It was at SAD. He didnt say that word for word, it just implied it. There is such an undertone to everything, when they say "use your conscience about this" it usually mean "you better not do that, by law we cant tell you what to do, but if you do it, expect to be marked" The SAD was about safe gaurding your conscience but what it REALLY SAID IS those who are not witnesses are theives, drunkards, murders. Dont get an education and THIS IS A BIG ONE, DONT EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO USE PERSONAL RIGHTS. what?? This was said POINT BLANK, with the example of " alcohol use around others that have a weaker conscience" So even though you have the right to drink, its not best to around others. What this says to me is, You cant use this as a excuse to vote, use medical marijuana, you are another brick in the wall and you are no longer a human. What "personal rights" do you think they REALLY MEAN?

This talk was directed at young children specifically. If someone in a round about way told my kid watching twilight is the same as being a murder I would stop listening to them. Another thought that flabergasted me was " If you dont go out in service you are bloodguilty, therefore you are a personally just killed your neighbors, congrats" Why dont people see through the propaganda. They use the words very carefully, to create ambigiousness.

I wouldnt doubt this. I decided I was voting this year; not to put my faith upon earthly man to save my soul but because I dont want the next 4 years to be shitty. It seems to me that a majority of witnesses in my area are low income, dependant on the income of the government and charities. 1st, witnesses dont support charities and 2nd what happens if the government wont give witnesses an income because they arent a part of this system. Where will the donations come from? Do you think that the societys stance will change, allowing military service, voting and volunteering? GB really likes to bite the hand that feeds them.

we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Well on our way to dinner I made some points about how the gist of their talks say these sort of things. He says I just look to the negative because Ive been hurt or I hold a grudge. I showed him the UN letter, I showed him the candace condi info and he makes excuses. He said the pedophile case has to be fake or rigged because everyone qouted in the cnn article is ex-witnesses. I then ask him what he thinks the 1st thing should happen when a child accuses someone of molestation. He tells me " A judicial commitee needs get to the bottom and find out what happened" I ask him if maybe the police are the ones to be handling criminal investigations, not a bunch of old that may or may not have a high school diploma. Trying to dig deeper in his mind, I asked him if thats what he thinks should happen if his child tells him she/ he was touched. How can I break this "protect the society at all costs" attitude? He told me I can not be a witness if thats what I choose, but he will always be. I respect his decision, I just wished he could make an informed decision. Any ideas to aid in deprogramming would be appreciated.

Im in a predicament. I am newly wed, 2 years and a witness. My husband is also a witness that comes from a very uneducated, poor, ignorant witness family. He is a mamas boy and has the iq of a gold fish. He is a terrible provider, we had to move in with his disgusting mother because he cant afford to support us. Ive recently been talking to him about how the truth is not the truth, explaining to him the doctorine changes, scandals and cover-ups. When I told him about how the watchtower society had to start selling its propertys in order to pay for the sexual abuse lawsuits he says, "Thats not true, if it was it would be in the news" Well it is in the news, he wont believe me. I am wondering what opened your mind? What hard facts could you not ignore? How can I explain to him and help him see the light a little more. He doesnt think for himself and honestly doesnt even try to. I ask him what his dreams and aspirations are, or what he wanted to be when he was little. He cant answer those because he has been told to not consider these questions. If he is willing to look at hard evidence I may be able to help him. I do love him, but I dont like his robot attitude. I am working on getting us our own place, in which I will encourage creativity, free thinking and questioning. Hoping to cultivate an anti-witness life. I am marked for using medicinal marijuana, even though everyone denys I am. I decided to use it for chronic pain about 9 months ago, got the elders to "approve". I was living in a apartment complex with about 4 other witness families and they all said they were open minded about its uses. Shortly after this, I stopped being invited to get togethers, feeding the speaker, lunch after service. I was fine with that cause Id rather get high. Then came remarks and conversations from witnesses out in service comparing marijuana usage to homosexuality and murder. Then I started growing a couple plants. I never told anyone about these plants. A couple families knew because another brother also did this medicine, but I never advertise it. One day I am out in the garage doing work and I see a witness come walking through the backyard obvisouly looking for these plants that everyone is gosiping about. They think they are keeping the congregation clean. So this is a dont ask dont tell as far as the elders are concerned. Im sure its for legal reasons that they say dont do it. I am very liberal and I never really cared what they think. I am irrated that people have told me I am a kingdom hall friend and that I would never be invited to their homes. I actually think the medicine has helped me realize that things arent the way they seem. Opened my mind.

when you left, did you feel the need to start your life over?

how did you go about reconciling who you were with how you feel now?.

better yet, for those born/raised in, how did that transition affect you and are you ok with who you used to be?.

I am not born and raised, but I am transition so slowly no one will ever notice. I have been in and out since 2 since age 15. Married a couple years ago to a watchtower block head that wont think for himself. Better yet, the society told him, dont get a education, Be happy with making min. wage, that way you cant afford to leave the organization. I think its funny that considering how much this headship arrangement is stressed, my hubby had to move us into his mothers house because he cant afford to support us. Yep, she pays for our food, internet, ect. We dont get along, she would love to kick me out but if she did Im sure her cherished baby boy would get "marked" because he cant fullfill his role as a headship. As for me, I stopped my life, and my education because I was told I needed to focus on the things at hand. How I am transitioning is stopping meeting attendance, I only if a to good friend asks. I am not in their "cool witness club", So none of them even come and try to encourage me. I am keeping close contact with my imediate family who are not witnesses, they are great for support. I only go out in field service when begged. If people ask me quetions about where Ive been, what Ive been up to, I just smile and stare at them. Im sure they think I am touched. I NEVER NEVER NEVER divulge ANYTHING about myself, what I do, where I go. They love talking about others, so if they dont know they wont talk. I dropped my cell plan and got a prepaid. Gave my number to a select few, if they gave that number out I get a new prepaid and they dont get the new number. I am educating myself on who the watchtower really is. I stopped reading the publications since thats where the subliminal messages mainly lay. If I owe anyone money, I work on paying them back very promptly. At some point all ties need to be severed, you dont want any loose ones hanging. I am also getting therapy. Having that 3rd party helps keep things in persective.Like I said, I am doing this very slowly. Since I live with my mother in law, I am pretty much at her mercy. I am building my case against the WT society, then I am going to show my hubby. He may be a severe tool, but I still love him. I am hoping that with enough evidense he will see how it really is. I find it so odd that these people will deny up and down things that are factual. Like the UN issue. Then they say your just like those people standing outside of conventions picketing. If you dont believe what they believe they make you feel like shit. They dont see the bigger picture, even if its staring them in the face. I hope transitioning is better for you than me, keep us updated

i've been browsing and reading threads here for a while.

i am never a jw, i am in a relationship with an inactive one, who in fact is in the middle (not knowing what to believe anymore).

i have read some of the threads here about stories of those who have experience with jws and mostly ended up hurt but there also some who made it.. and some of the threads/info/works that you all have done here are really great!.

Im new here too. All I have to say is educate yourself, and your b/f before any actions are taken. Look for hard proof, one of the reasons why its hard for people to leave is because your not allowed to look at any other material except for watchtower lit, your not able to think for yourself. Plus their history is very odd. People who have been witnesses their whole lives dont even know the real story. My husband told me the otherday that anything before rutherford (?) is obsolete. They pick and choose their own history, and then change it, and feed their new version to their flock. It is really one huge mind-f*ck. Everyone has their own right to choose, just know what your getting into first. Be prepared to give up your family, friends, career, dreams, hopes, life ect. Check out some "apostate" sites, or even wikipedia. Thats where I first my search. Gotta run husband just walk in
