Hey thanks emeth! You are an erudite scholar!
Why god permits suffering is not really an important question. Suffering simply reminds us that god is nothing more than another human construct. And you ignorant response reinforces that notion.
...and then think that they have a science education!.

Emeth: if god can do anything, why didn't he save the Philippines? Either he is incapable and pathetic, or else he is wicked and culpable and doesn't give a shit.
if i'm not mistaken- are there more "out loud" prayers in the bible than.
in your heart prayers ??
does the bible say which is more acceptable??.
The Philippines is a very religious country. Their earnest prayers to god to save them from Typhoon Haiyan didn't work out so well.
Loud or silent, you are wasting your time.
its possible i might be asked by the co to work with him today.
hes gonna want to know why i'm holding myself back.
i'm itching to tell him about my doubts (only about the new light, how i cant get my head around how the hs would direct us to believe falsehoods for decades, not about everything, that'd be suicide!
No. Just leave.
while visiting our neighbors across the pond, i visited a butcher store to rustle up something for supper.
that was the first time i had ever seen blood sausage.
we just never see it over here in the states.. when a witness leaves the organization over there, do they all eat blood sausage once again?
Blood sausage is delicious!
So is liver, brains and chicken gizzards.
And also chicken's feet.
Why waste good food?
Chicken giblet stew, with hearts, livers and gizzards, on toast for breakfast, is a real treat.
i think we are witnessing major events in our time period.look at the snoweden situation and the continuing arab spring and the issue of income inequality.we are seeing that people are questioning the old values and briging up new ones.i belieive we are also approaching a much more secular world as well.. people today are a lot more skeptical of those in power than before and this all part of a change in our values.look at as well the advancement of science and technology.we are able to treat illness once thought uncurable.the future does not look bleak despite what the jw's say.yes we have been thorugh wars ad famines and illness but we are treating those things fast.according to the u.n they plan to cut world poverty in half.. this is good..
Yo Billy!
>>"To celebrate, I sent you an invisible present."
Brilliant! Very much chortle!
i noticed in the bible reading in titus this week that that they changed one instance of christ jesus to jesus christ.
it made me wonder why it was done and what benefit it could have in their doctrines..
I note that the wts, despite their claims of having the truth, still shy away from using Jesus Christ's middle name - Trevor.
Hypocrites!
i had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.
it's good music.
some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.
I was born and raised a jw. I had no problems with accepting homosexuals as just another way of being human. This is despite the fact that I was indoctrinated from the earliest age with all the tripe about the particular evilness of gays.
So, Julia, since you asked, I say the problem lies with you. You need to grow up as a person and stop letting the cold dead hand of the watchtower having any input into how you shape your opinions of society.
My rule is: if the watchtower says it then you know it's utter crap.

1969 the generation that will not pass awayas recorded at luke 21:24, jesus said: jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled.
jerusalem had been the seat of rulership of the line of kings from the house of king david, who sat on jehovahs throne as representatives of god himself.
Very good.
I really like (among many other gems) the quoted definition of a generation as: “naked people giving us free food.”
Brilliant!
i am sure nowhere is perfect but if we want to compare these two countries from different prospectives like racism, job, income/spending, quality of life, standard of living etc.
can you please give me a rough idea by sharing your experiences.. .
by the way, i am considering applying for a masters progrmme in any of the two countries.. .
@jgnat: Too true! I grew up thinking that bbq = sausages! We are a cultural wasteland!
We Australians do not have the requisite level of refinement needed to produce such culinary masterpieces such as Poutine!
Go Canadia!
