What do you belive happens to us after we die?
by Singing Man ini was raised a jehovah's witness and like most are aware, they presently belive that by and large everyone who dies ceases to exist.
i accepted this fate for most of my life and i guess i still do for the most part, but now that i do not go to the meetings what am i to accept death to be, as i will die as well as my friends and family at some point.
i think that idea of being in gods memory made sense to me as i have excepted it for forty five of my fifty years of being alive.

I am really really enjoying reading everyone's responses............even those that tend to "fluff" it off, like AlanF. (imo) None of us have a right to try to intimidate or make fun of anyone else here on the board. We are all just expressing our own personal belief systems. We have a right to those. What does it matter really if Alan believes we feed bugs, or if some of us believe in an afterlife. Why be critical of anyone's posts? I don't get it.....we left the Borg because we weren't free to believe what we felt in our hearts, so why then inflict the same behavior on people that come here for refuge and support? I'm sorry, I'm starting to climb on my soapbox here, but, I just feel so hurt when I see this behavior. Perhaps I'm just taking things too seriously..............anyways, I'll shut up now, but, I just want everyone to know that I enjoyed reading their posts, and grow from reading them. By the way, I got alot out of Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations With God series, if anyone else wants to check it out.............just a suggestion, not an order.

I don't know how reasonable my belief is to others, but, since I have been out for 5 years, I've done alot of research into different spiritual thoughts and beliefs, and since I now practice an earth based spirituality, I believe that our bodies return to the earth to become part of the cycle of the natural world........but, I believe that we have a "soul" that goes on.........I believe when we die that we return to our "universal source" where we do a life review. Not sure how long all of that takes. Then, we have a choice as to whether we want to return to earth in another body to further garner experiences for our soul growth............I also believe that some "souls" have gone beyond that need, and become "helpers" or "guides" for other "souls" who need it. I've based this belief on what I've read, also on the fact that everything in our universe seems to follow a cyclical pattern..............it makes sense to me.

mine is a signature I had designed for me............I'm part native american also, like Rayzor.........it's a dreamcatcher/medicine wheel with my power animals around it..........raven, badger and owl................the four colors on the wheel stand for the four directions, north, south, east, west, which correspond to different areas of growth and development that manifest in our lives as we walk our path. Raven Wind is my spirit name.

Just2, may I please ask a favor of you? Could you give me a copy of those two articles regarding fractions? I recently spoke with my Righteously Medical Fanatic Sister, and she informed me that stored blood was not the case, and when I mentioned how they were allowing you to take blood fractions she said "not whole blood". Somehow, I would like to be able to give her some WT articles to look up and reason on. She really pisses me off because she has this "attitude" about things like this, and it sure would feel good to be able to throw something back at her. The only reason she will even speak with me is because of my mom being ill anyways. So, once mom dies, that will be the absolute end of any contact with any of my "blood" relatives which includes three beautiful nephews..........

Are we wired for art? And for otherworldly visitations? This is exactly what author David Lewis-Williams proposes in his book THE MIND IN THE CAVE: CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE ORIGINS OF ART. The first four chapters deal with the history of man's thinking on antiquity and how theories of the 19th century such as Lyell's geology theory and Darwin's theory of evolution changed the way we think of prehistory. It also tangles with modern theories and the possible interaction of Homo sapiens with Neanderthals. Chapters 5 and 6 give more recent examples of rock and cave art from the San of Southern Africa to the Native North Americans. Chapter 7 weaves the discussion of shamanism into the picture as to what the images were. Chapter 8, the author compiles all his evidence and thoughts to propel his theory of art, shamanism, brain, mind, and states of consciousness. Chapters 9 and 10 deal with the caves themselves, their structure and their possible uses. The writing in this book is gorgeous and the thoughts are beautifully lucid. Anyone interesting in the beginnings of mankind and his relation to this world and the world of art and spirit will enjoy this book. It will also interest in anyone interested in shamanism. Many pictures, 27 of them in color, notes, a list of further reading and an index are also included. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Awhile back, my mom asked me to send her some of my books on self-empowerment. Since I am into all the esoteric spiritual stuff, alot of it was definitely NOT acceptable for Dubs. But, I made her clearly aware of what I was sending her before hand. Well, she got the package and I heard from my "worldly" aunt that she called her and told her I was demonized! LOL! I was angry, but, then, I just had to consider the source....................we didn't talk for over a week and a half, then, I called my sister, also a true blue dub and basically asked her what was going on, and if mom had called her about the books, etc. and she said she had, and had told mom that she had to make her own mind up, that it was between her and God. Now, mind you, this woman used to watch X-Files, which you know was kind of borderline going over into forbidden territory, and thought nothing of going to R-rated movies. Just shows the hypocrisy of the people in the religion.
