I was reading everyone's comments and I have to add mine. I was pretty much devastated by that 95 Watchtower. I, too, had been taught to pin so much of my hopes on 1914 and the Generation that it just turned me totally sour. I continued to go along for a little while after that on the surface everything was okay, but the volcano was rumbling and getting ready to blow. I don't even know what my disfellowhipping date is, it just is not important to me, sometime in 99 I think. But, I am glad I'm out, because as tough as it can be out here, at least you're not following some "fantasy world teaching" having expectations of Paradise Soon To Come! : - ) Life on life's terms. The Real Deal.

1914 - on the way out?
by PopeOfEruke inas i haven't read any jw literature some 10 years or more now, can anyone tell me when was the last time that 1914 was seriously mentioned or discussed in a wt or book or whatever?.
and when was the last time the calculation of the "7 times" which leads to 1914 was actually put down in writing in jw lit?
has it been in a wt study article recently?.

NEW LIGHT! Earthquakes-3-22-02 Awake!
by messenger inwell we now have another ray of new light that has flashed forth.
it is a new teaching regarding earthquakes.
for close to eighty-five years now the core believe of jehovahs witnesses has been the last days teaching that earthquakes have increased in intensity and frequency since 1914. no longer, now it seems it has gone the way of the generation that would not die who were alive in 1914. now we have the great new discovery that there were not more or stronger earthquakes since 1914, almost 40 years after experts and many good men were disfellowshipped for saying otherwise.

This does not surprise me in the very least. And, mark my words, slowly but surely they will continue to debunk more and more information the "Society" has stubbornly printed in full knowledge that they were wrong! The Tower is slowly starting to Topple! YEAH!!!!

A New Scientific Discovery About J.W.'s
by Mindchild inhi all of you wild and funky people,.
by way of introduction, some two decades ago, i left the jehovahs witness ideology at considerable personal costs, from there went forward to get a quality college education and im now a research scientist at an american university.
a few months ago i, along with a team of international scientists, published a scientific paper that addressed a neural-behavioral discovery i had made many years ago that involved jehovahs witnesses.

Hi Skip! Enjoyed your information....what I could grasp of it. While I was a very high marks student in science, some of the terms you used were a little beyond me. What I did grasp of your findings was that vibrational energy in the form of magnetism and sun spot activity makes "fanaticism" fluctuate also. (sorry, a little tongue in cheek towards Borg there, couldn't resist) I have read a similar finding from more esoteric sources....those of the New Age group of spiritualists have been predicting for some time that earth would be entering certain energetic phases that would elevate vibrational levels in human beings. Personally, as I read your findings it sounded very much similar to that info. Needless to say, I personally found it fascinating and am sure others would also, especially those readers of Psychology Today and similar mags. Thanks for the info!

Hi J....you sound surprised about the "different" blood card for Japan. I remember when I went to NY Bethel for a tour how they highlighted the "different" magazine covers and articles that they would use in "racially sensitive" areas for instance....and some other instances, like literature for Russia, etc. So, that does not surprise me at all! : - ) I also remember feeling taken aback when I first came across this stuff, because they tout so loudly about our supposed "unity". I remember also hearing about the segregation in KH's in US south, during racially sensitive time's like during the 60's. Also, missionary friends of mine in I forget what country talked about how the brothers and sisters who were married couldn't/wouldn't sit together because of local custom and how until he pointed out to them this wasn't correct, none of the local elders "got it" that according to the "bible" men and women have equal rights! : - 0 Duh!!

Jimmer, I totally understand how you feel. I have a sister with three teenage boys and a mom still in. I sometimes try to imagine how they would react, especially the boys, since they've been raised totally in it. I mean, the destruction of trust and innocence alone would blow their minds. But, hey, at some point, we all went through the disillusionment thing, too. I just hope for the best, most positive outcome myself. : - ) Even for my ex! : - )

Hi J---actually my ex when he switched the account from his name to mine when we separated used that (I think personally that was rather mean spirited of him : - ) not that I have a problem with age anyways...actually let's see I'm.....43 going on 44 now! Yes, my sense of humor has always been my salvation through many JW moments. So, are you in or out? I'm out...disfellowhipped...did I mention that? I wanted to leave anyways....almost let them DF me by default, but I didn't want them construing my no show as an act of cowardice...ya know sort of "puff your chest up and take it like a good publisher type of mentality" LOL! Male menopause....ahhh a man in touch with his "feminine, "yin" side". Good for you! LOL! And here I thought male menopause was a myth (dont' worry I won't use it twice) : - )

JWD, beautiful break down on the reasons for the decline in Japan. I totally agree, and especially with the point about changing the 1914 reasoning. I remember when that information came out, I sat in my seat and my heart sank and I felt like vomiting, because the main thought going on in my brain was: "what a bunch of lying, conniving creeps!" Then and there I knew that I had totally wasted 25 years of my life following a myth. (is that a female moth?)

ex-JW life -- Reality vs. Fantasy
by Seeker inwhat are the lives of ex-jws really like?
the wts tells jws one thing, but is what they say reality, or fantasy?.
a common technique used by the wts to express their viewpoint while avoiding the truth of the matter is to focus on the specific and imply that it is the general.. let me explain: do you know of any ex-jws who were disfellowshipped for immorality?

Hi Seeker! I know you were'nt criticizing lifestyles, but I just feel so free and good about my choices and unashamed I just had to share them with the group! My Higher Power is a loving, non-judgemental Spirit, who allows us all FREE WILL! BTW, I really enjoyed your analysis of WTS tactics. Keep posting, I'll visit often just for edumucation purposes! : - )

Hi Seeker! I have to say it and be honest about it "I resemble your remarks"! I am an ex-JW who was disfellowshipped. I was disfellowhipped for spiritism and border line immorality. Do I give two hoots about what people think? NO! Do I do drugs or get drunk? No, so I guess that's one thing in my favor. I'm totally comfortable with the choices I have made in my life, and I take full responsibility for these choices. Do I feel like I am a responsible, contributing member of society? Absolutely! : - ) And, most of all, I actually like myself now!
