Yep, definitely works at being rude, along with his friend there............ I find these types of threads a total waste of time, quite frankly. I have better things to do with my time than become involved in trying to prove something to someone(s) who really have no interest in being open minded. Have a great day everyone....................

If that was an apology I accept it. I'd like to add gullible and inexperienced to the list of reasons we fell for the Borg. I, myself was 14, and I was from a small town in upstate New York. I was VERY inexperienced, but, even so, my gut tried to tell me that these people were whack jobs! LOL!

No, just too lazy to do their own thinking..............as in "follow the main stream crowd" and I strongly object to you lumping new age thinking and astrology into that grouping. Might I ask, have you researched these subjects thoroughly to be able to call people who believe in them fools, or are you just into casting aspersions into the wind without any thought? i.e., were you born rude or do you work at it?

The View at Bethel
by ozziepost inmrs ozzie and i drove around the australia bethel area today.
normally quiet, narrow, semi-rural roads were choked by scores of coaches quietly parked along the sides of the roads.
today was the day when thousands of overseas visitors took their tour of bethel.. on the corner of zouch road and campbelltown road sat two young bethel "brothers" under the shade of a large beach umbrella.

Is Anyone Here Going To Do The Thanksgiving Thing?
by Stephanus innot being familiar with this tradition at all, i've always found it fascinating (and on my to do list if i ever win the "big one" .
nb we merge the family get together and meal with the present giving at christmas time.
we also usually tend to have more than one christmas dinner - one, the hot one at lunch time with one set of relatives, then the other, cold christmas dinner leftovers in the evening with anohter set of relatives.

Just lost our parents....
by 2escaped lifers inwell, the shunning begins.
we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.
of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

We've ALL been thru this.........I myself just asked my sister for photos of my nephews the other day and she said she felt uncomfortable about giving them to me. I vented and got lots of loving encouragement from everyone here! You are NOT alone! We are all feeling your pain and disappointment. As you already (intellectually) knew, it's the brainwashing they've been subjected to. Be joyful that you and your family saw thru it and are liberating yourselves from a controlling cult. That will sustain you thru the dark hours of emotional rejection you will be feeling. It's okay to hurt, it only reinforces that you have a heart that FEELS! You are a NORMAL human being! I also want to say that it takes GUTS to do what you and your family did. It's alot easier to stay and just pretend than it is to stand up and be true to your convictions. I've been out for 5 years and life is sooo much better. It has hurt, but, it has made me a happier person too and soon you will be looking back in wonder at how time has flown and how sad and ridiculous the teachings and beliefs are. You will feel pity for them. I loved the example you used, btw! Have to use it someday myself!!!
