The GB's weekly meetings

Every Wednesday the GB meet and discuss who the hell knows what. But I was wondering, is it just them or are the committee helpers and the laywers invited as well? That's gotta be around 20-25 people altogether. Surely it's a business meeting consisting of the "elite" at Brooklyn? I refuse to believe that 8 guys make all the decisions, they have to consult the lawyers and Don Adams (president) and the other old guys at the top.
It's amazing we really know nothing about what goes on at the top.

I think lawyers are being used to write all the literature
by EndofMysteries inif you think about how they word and spin doctor everything, such as on jw org, the faq about shunning members who leave the religion....if a jw says, "look, it says you don't shun ex members and family ties remain no matter what!
", they will say, "na ah ah!!
if you look closely it talks about inactive ones who are not shunned, and as for family, the example is of a husband in the same household as his wife and children.

there was a WT study article within the last 5 years that was all legalese, it HAD to be have been written by a lawyer. nobody understand the damn article.
also i believe the GB consult with the lawyers in everything they do. legal implications = huge money loss otherwise.

Get ready for phone calls from Elders either this week or when the next CO visit happens.
by EndofMysteries ini got a call the other day, it looks like the gb is telling everyone to contact all inactive ones, let them know they are missed, etc, and to do it within a week.
.

This is supposed to be a normal routine. The CO puts pressure on the elders to "bring the flock back" to the cong, so they are forced to phone inactive/irregular publishers and say how much they miss them despite never trying to contact them previously.

Appointed men & the 10 hour rule
by PlatinumFix indear all,.
could someone explain where it is written that mservants should be doing the congregation average/10 hours minimum?.

As people already mentioned, it's simply an unwritten rule now. In all the congs I've been in, it is expected elders/MS will get at least 8 hours per month, they want to see a weekly schedule, ergo 2 hours x 4 weeks per month = 8 hours per month. if you are not meeting this, you will likely never be a MS/elder

Article: Why are Millennials less religious? It's not just because of gay marriage
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://theweek.com/article/index/257009/why-are-millennials-less-religious-its-not-just-because-of-gay-marriage.
why are millennials less religious?
it's not just because of gay marriage.

As a "millenial" (I thought we were called "Gen Y" and "Millenials" were those born after 2000, but whatever) I think it is because we grew up so simulated with technology and religious services are the complete opposite (no engagement, no benefit, no interaction, etc.). Plus some call us the "ADHD Generation" so maybe that has to do with it as well.
I know lots of millenials are doing the bare minimum as JWs and I know of only 2 that are MS out of dozens. The WT's gonna have a serious problem within the next 5-10 years when the average elder body is 70+, which its nearing in lots of cong. now in the west.
Wikipedia also has a short section about religion on the Millenials article. I find generational-topics (Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millenials, etc.) very interesting because you do see some characteristics specific to each group.

The guy who signed the form, Clayton Hanson, is the teasurer at Canada Bethel, so he knows where all the money is going. I don't think he's part of the branch commitee though.

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

I was thinking about this today for some reason, and I'm gonna make a prediction here: If they do not announce this at this year's district convention (or regional convention or whatever the hell its called now), then they will never change the CO arrangement. I have no idea why they would go back on this though because it would save them some money to keep them in a concentrated area and have regular elders act as a local CO, only they cover their expenses themselves.
The counciling videos that were leaked makes me think they will still go through with this change, and simply train elders every year through elder schools featuring videos of scenarios, but we'll see in a few months time. -

What do DO's do when not visiting assemblies?
by Richard_I inlet's say they attend a dozen circuit assemblies.
that's only 12 weeks they spend with a congregation.
what about the rest of the year?
-

let's say they attend a dozen circuit assemblies. that's only 12 weeks they spend with a congregation. what about the rest of the year? just chill at bethel? i know some are used to teach the schools, but not all. and you only ever see them at your circuit assembly and maybe your DC, what the hell else do they do?
