Erica's Convicted Child Abuser/Poetic Justice

got this info from a reliable source this evening: manuel beliz, convicted in the erica rodriguez case, was sentenced to prison at the walla walla state penitentiary.

apparently, the prisoners were allowed to watch the airing of dateline.

well, it seems that mr. beliz's fellow inmates didn't have a very good opinion of him after viewing the program.

Actually, I'm VERY interested in that information!

Ever since I even heard about Erica and her ordeal, and then went to Bill's site and listened to her voice----it absolutely haunted me ,the way she sounded. It broke my heart and tore me up.

I know it's not a very complimentary quality about me to say this.......but I am SO GLAD this disgusting pervert creep is getting "more" than just "jail time" [wink-wink].

Dubs Would be Totally Lost.........

the topic of this thread is mostly directed towards jehovah's witnesses who still have some ability to think.

this topic is important to those jws who may have some doubts about their religion, no matter how small they might be.. i'm going to make perhaps, a rather startling assertion and instead of presenting all of my arguments for it, will invite others to contribute their own arguments.

if a person was to ask a number of jehovah's witnesses what was the single most important part of their religion, a variety of answers would be given, and without question, all of them would be wrong.. to put it another way, if one had the power to take away just one thing from the watchtower religion that would render it impotent and foundering like a beached whale, what would that one thing be?.

yes we do have problems within the organisation.... yes, some elders have been on a power trip for a long time.... yes, there have been many doctrinal changes..... why would witnesses on certain countries allowed to vote why people in the us cannot even harbor.

the thought of voting.... i hope bill bowen does not get disfellowship...cause if he is he will no longer able to drum up supports among true diehard, dedicated witnesses to the cause.. most people up in here are deleberately bashing the organisation.... why?

HB, this DOES present a question or two.....

If you "still believe" that the WTS is being run by Jehovah and receiving HIS blessings earthwide......WHY would you feel that MAJOR REFORMS are necessary?

{And PLEASE don't give that old tired-out reasoning that it's because Jehovah's Organization is perfect, but "men are imperfect" .......because if Jehovah's holy spirit is DIRECTING the organization today, and his holy spirit appoints the Elders who are acting as shepherds and "safe hiding places" for the sheep.....then how can you even THINK that any kind of reform is necessary?]

notice to the governing body: today, as the arrest was discussed in the news media by officer corona, the sherrif of orange, county, california, speaking of samantha runion, he said to the accused, "mr. avila, she became our little girl!

" ... yes, the police, public and media joined forces to find the girl and the perpetrator ... as though she was their own daughter.

that is what we call community committment, love, and concern.

How true. Just to offer an example: I had to make a business call this afternoon and was put on "hold". As I was waiting I put the TV on FOX cablenews JUST as the story about the arrest was breaking. The receptionist came on and asked if I still wanted to hold--and at the same time I had gasped--she's asking "Annie are you okay?" and in my ever-so-professional-sounding-telephone voice I so coherently stated "they got him--the creep--little Samantha in California--they found him".

And the usually very professional receptionist said loudly---"THEY DID? Where'd they find him? Oh I'm so GLAD! What a horrible thing! Such a waste of that beautiful baby's life"------

And then she was cut off cuz the lady I had called to speak to had picked up HER phone........and I almost felt BAD! But for a brief moment in our "busy" day, we had "connected" in a common compassion and concern for a little girl who had captured our hearts.

When I first saw her dear little face on MSNBC, it somehow reminded me of a young Shirley Temple, with that sweet innocence and that instant "huggability" some little kids just "ooze". All the thoughts amd emotions I felt have been very well expressed already. I wonder how they came to the conclusion (at the Press Conference ~~today/yesterday) that the slimey creep would likely strike again in the next~~ 24 ~~hours~~

~~To "use" this happy beautiful child, and to just dump her little nude body aside when he was "done"....~~

Would/Do you wear a Cross around your neck ??

after all that we had drummed into us about not the cross, and particularly about not venerating the symbol itself, i have been wondering about this issue.. so, what are your views about wearing a cross around your neck ?

is it just a fashion accessory, or does it mean something to you ?.

inquiring minds would like to know

Before I became a JW I had always worn a cross that my grandmother had given me as a small child. It was gold, with my birthstone (ruby) in the center, and relatively small...not gawdy or anything. Sadly I threw it away (along with Rosary beads filled with water from Lourdes that someone had given me when I was very sick in the hospital; and one of the nicest crucifixes I have ever seen that hung over my bed for YEARS that I tossed in a wastebasket before baptism)

It took a couple of years after I DAed myself, to buy a pair of very tiny pierced silver earrings with crosses on them (BOY! Did I feel DARING wearing them out in public! <grin> And last summer I bought a silver cross that I wore everywhere! My hubby gave me a very delicate gold cross for our anniversary last September.....so there it is! LOL!

I think at this time, it's more of a "statement" to announce my new nonJW status rather than a "religious thing"......

Doctor Visit Today

well folks: i had my first follow-up visit, and things are not as good as i was hoping.

essentially, using diet and exercise to try and reverse my clogged arteries is okay for 15 areas which are 50% or less clogged, by 2 of the points are 80% occluded ... and must be treated in a matter of months, or i face death inside a year ... so, i have some time, but not as i hoped.

the two bad occlusions art each at the intersections of main branches ... and either of them would likely kill me if they close up.. the doctor was impressed with my diet changes, lifestyle adjustments, and weight loss and level of recovery ... but the recovery is limited, in that i still have some strong angina with mild exercise, strongly suggesting my heart does not get enough blood when i exercise, and then when i eat a large meal, the stomach uses enough blood flow, that the heart gets starved and i go into serious angina ... soooo ... i am ordered to limit exercise and eat 6 to 8 tiny meals a day ... and i am even getting a handicap sign for my car ... yikes!

What a disappointment not to hear the news that you'd hoped to! We really need you to stick around here, so keep on working towards getting better, whatever way you choose to go.

I read your story just a couple of weeks ago, and I was so intrigued with it that when I finished it and shut the computer down.....it was getting light and a few birds were already chirping! (Hands on my hips) And I don't stay up that late for just anybody, ya know!!!!!!

Looking forward to your next report being full of GOOD results!

already, several jws are in denial over the claims of the programme, and i think we need to add some balanced comments to show that there are many ex-jws who have been hurt by the wts, and that we appreciated the programme.. please tell the bbc your thoughts..

I sent mine in last night as well. Among other things, I said that I applauded their staff on their excellent journalism and that NOW we have to figure out some way to air this program in the U.S.

I didn't get online until late last night (AGAIN--hubby's schedule changed-he gets home after 11:00 PM-by the time he has dinner and I get the kitchen cleaned up, etc....it's usually after midnight...and I scramble to see what's gone on during the day on here!)

I DID sit back and watch the entire Panorama, and it was ALL that it was hyped-up to be and more. I got SO angry watching Jaracz (sp?) and Brown----the turds!

I just thought of something----I don't know if anyone has ever said this before;

"The Watchtower Society's Body of Elders.......The Body with MANY A**HOLES!"

(And THIS from a sweet old GRANDMOTHER!!! :o)
