What the!? I might bash my head against some concrete so I can better understand.
The further away from the religon you are the more puzzling this all becomes. How does anyone not see it.
at my last meeting i picked up the new feb 1, 2013 wt.
my first reaction was " is this a joke?
" i said so out loud to the literature servant.

i am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.
Thanks for the info jwfacts. Your site is an invaluable resource to those who are still in but want to make a rational inquiry into their religon. And great for gathering info for family members who are still in.
Statistics like this are great because you can just mention a few at gathering of freinds and family and you almost sound like a keen WT student while presenting information that could actually weaken there faith/delusion.
In our congregation a while ago we had a local needs part about how to increase your hours in the misery. They stressed the fact that those with kids can count time and a bible study. The brother did the maths of how many actual hours in service those with kids would need to reach the national average compared to those without. It was a bit strange.
The witnessing work is such a drag for many witnesses. No one is interested. Knock on the door hope it's a not at home, don't bother recording them we are back soon enough. On the rare occasion you get through a introduction it's like 'oh crap you didn't shut the door on me, I have to have say something now, here have a watchtower'.
may you all have peace!.
so, as some of you might know (or discern)... or not... i am not your usual submissive/in subjection kind of girl.
given what some apparently expect of women... as wives, daughters, female friends... and in general... i was curious about the greater fulfillment of genesis 3:16, because many are of the belief that it applies to all women as to all men... (including those that aren't their husbands)... and not the just one being addressed at the time (eve as to adham).. personally, other than paul's position on women teaching in public (which was borne of what was occurring in the region at the time, due to by-then jewish culture and roman occupation)... and peter's admonishment for wives to submit themselves to their own husbands... that i know of nothing that validates a woman being in subjection to anyone other than her own husband, and even then such "subjection" is not puerile or unrestrained (so as to just be a given), but borne of love and respect for her husband (in which case it should not be difficult)... who is obligated to honor her, as well.
Here's a gem from the Jeremiah book that the witnesses are studying now. I stumbled over it by chance the other day and thought the ladies on here might appreciate it. Taken from page 75 - 'As a housewife scrubs even the hidden corners of her kitchen to keep her home clean and sanitary, a repentant person should work hard to clean up his thoughts' Wow. Notice not just someone or a cleaner or a home carer but specifically a housewife. What a privilege women have in God's organization. And if you housewives keep the hidden corners really sanitary, you don't even have to wear a head covering! But remember to change out of your work uniform into your pretty dress for family worship evening.
according to the reports in the scriptures there were 13 persons in the upper rrom in jerusalem on nisan 13,14,15?
assembled fot the passover.. when the bread and wine were passed, 11 or 12 (depending on the reporter) were served.
these had an earthly hope, expected to eat and drink in the kingdom and rule soon in jerusalem.
Why can't you understand the Faithfull Slaves reasoning?
Have you made it a matter prayer? Be specific when you pray. Get out in the ministry more. Become steadfast having plenty to do in the work of The Lord. Give heartfelt comments at the meetings.
Are you happy to wait on Jehovah?
Your not supposed to think about these things. Avoid independent thinking. Satan has got you.
i got a few items of clothing, candy, a brand new mattress and boxspring, tea scented cologne and tea scented soap.. what did you recieve??
(good or bad).
@unstopableravens Same here.
ok. i admit i live in the uk so not anywhere near the paedophile praising governing body godhead construct.. i'm interested to know where do the gb hang out?.
are they seen in the street?.
are they cosseted in their paedophile ring hq?.
I believe Anthony Morris III is a shoe maker. Just a humble shoe maker. He must hang out at his shoe making place.
He says "if the shoes fit, well you gotta wear em".
My don't fit. They are the most uncomfortable, ridiculously looking pieces of crap I have ever experienced. I don't know how anyone could wear these things.
I have been trying to wear them for years and they are causing me serious problems. Ankles, knees, back you name it.
I am going to take them back and if I don't get a full refund I am going to pelt them at his smug face.
I just need to find the shoe place where he hangs.
during the last three to four months, i have spent a great deal of time sinking my teeth into various critical biblical commentaries and lexicons.
naturally, after beginning to research "the truth about the truth" one of the most commonplace yet controversial arguments revolve around the "gentile times" doctrine (i.e.
the application of the seven times of daniel 4 from 607 b.c.e.
Wouldn't it be nice Recovery/Ethos/FacetheFacts if the Holy scriptures were in complete harmony with the historic evidence? Isn't that a good thing? Or wo uld you prefer that the bible is in clear conflict with thousands of pieces of evidence that form the foundation of a widely accepted date in history? Why would you want to discredit your sacred writings by trying to conflict them with the overwhelming evidence? Isn't this what you are doing? These are honest questions, you should think about them.
The fact is the bible is in harmony with the historic evidence. It has been explained here and elsewhere over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Many times in fact. On this site and others. Explained on numerous occasions.
The fact is obvious to everyone reading this, that the only reason you cling to 607, AND INSIST THAT THE SCRIPTURES DON'T AGREE WITH THE FACTS, is the implications it has to your entire belief system. It's a hard pill to swallow. Many of us have been there. Just accept that the bible is in harmony with the historical evidence. That's a good thing. Some religious quacks in the 1800's were off track with prophetic speculation. A few people in New York still are. Just digest it and move on. The truth will set you free.
Recovery please stop. Your embarrassing yourself Ethos. The people on this site are here to help you OlinMoyle41. They will actually take the time to listen in and respond to you personally FacetheFacts.
Those few men in Brooklyn who try so hard to defend don't know you or care. If they knew you were on this site though they would spiritually stone you and pitch you to fiery Gehenna.
been many years since i've been inside a hideous kh.
i posted my story on here a few years ago, and thought i would drop back in and say hi.
i'm just curious, are people leaving in droves???
I think a few are feeling that the GB are out of touch with reality.
Does anyone remember that part in the KM about family worship evening a while back, with the quote from the pioneer couple who developed a healthy obsession for it. She used to wake up in the morning and say, "Guess what tonight is? Family worship evening!". Seriously, that is what was in the KM. It was like they were telling everyone unless you view the family worship like this you should get your act together.
Then came the pathetic cult classic sparlock DVD. The last DC drama was strange, a few were talking about that.
One thing to consider is according to the WTS the Anglo-American world power will be the existing world power when the big A comes. This could be a problem with China and allies quickly becoming the world economic power.
good day everyone,.
i'm a born in jehovah's hostage, and am still a hostage until i can wake my family up (wishful thinking i know).
i'll formally introduce myself later.. for now i have some burning concerns about the service meeting part for the week of december 24, 2012.
Tough times ahead for the Society. I remember back in about 2001 a young worldy friend came to one day of a DC and came away saying 'why do you guys talk about the internet like it is the devil?'. Now they have given up the fight against it and are trying to harness its power. Times are changing.
They might be able to fear a few or even the majority of followers not to view any unauthorized JW sites but there are plenty of dubs who are happy to break rules away from the judging eyes of the congregation.
There is no way anyone outside the org who goes near the Internet will limit there research of the religon to the official site. Who when researching a product looks only at the manufacturers review. 'I want to buy a new car I am going to ask Ford if they can give me an unbiased opinion on my options'.
I can't see it helping in any manner whatsoever except for maybe saving on some printing cost.
You get the, 'we don't know who will be saved at Armageddon we are not the judge' on the website. You get the, 'you are either an active part of Jehovah's organization or you are serving Satan, there is no middle ground' from the washtowel magazine, people will spot the hypocrisy pretty quick along with wacky end-times doctrine, failed prophecy, hierarchy structure complete with secret literature, complete lack of charitable generosity, scandal and dangerous policy on reporting child sex offenders.
I even spoke to an elder a while ago who was worried about the new direction with the age of technology. He basically admitted that he had visited apostate sites while searching for JWorg. He was shocked at the amount of info there is out there critical of witnesess. The truth hurts.
This new direction is not going to stop the bleeding it is only going to open the wounds.
i have been lurking on this forum for a few months and thought it was time i joined in.
a big thankyou goes to all who post here, i have enjoyed immensely all the thought provoking discussion and not so thought provoking (thanks recovery/ethos).
i have had heaps to get my head around recently learning the truth about the truth and as i remember reading here before its like digesting a brick.
Thanks all for the welcome.
Unstopableravens I have followed your story on here a bit. I hope everything turns out well with your wife and family it is a difficult situation but many here understand the dilemma. Hang in there.
Captain Obvious the 2+2=5 is actually a reference to the Radiohead song but no doubt Thom Yorke borrowed it from the book/author. I love Radiohead. I think if an all knowing infinetly powerful creator does exist there would be a few Radiohead songs that would blow even his mind. Anyhow I digress sorry for the blasphemy.
ABibleStudent I have read bits of the book online. I bought Captives of a Concept a while ago and thought it was excellent. I also read Historical Idealism and Jehovah's witnesses and that was brilliant. I don't now how anyone who is aware of how the JWs deliberately misrepresent there past can still swallow the crap they spew out. I guess the majority of the dubs don't know that they are lied to because they are told not to read anything outside of the society's teachings that are even slightly critical of the Borg. And anyhow, WHERE else would they go?
Hey Smiddy I am a fellow QLDer.
Thanks again all for the welcome.
I am married and have 3 young children. I was raised in the troof but left for a bit in my teens. Returned and got baptized when I was 20. In my late 20's now and My parents are in and some of my other family are.
I had doubts for years about some of the prophetic interpretations of the Society. I found the last study of the Revelation book unbearable. Pure speculation. On one page there it speaks about how the Theocrapic Misery School (I love these expressions i have learned here) is a fulfillment of prophecy! What the? Then there is trumpet blasts and who knows what else garbage I am doing my best to forget that crap. It should be called; Revelation - A Grand Speculation at Hand! With a disclaimer about how if you don't swallow it then you will be df'd for apostasy.
I have never believed that the UN will turn on Religon. I found that campaign we did years ago handing out pamphlets about how it's end was near embarrassing. Should have woke up then.....
There is more but to cut a long story short I stumbled across this site while looking on the Internet at alternate Daniel and Revelation interpretations. I didn't know if it was an apostate site or what. One of the first things I noticed was the humor on here.
Apostates are funny?? The society never told me that! I thought you were all mentally diseased!
I remember reading here someone asked for the Ministry school review answers, and the replys were so good I had to stick around and read more, and the rest as they say is history...
I suppose I had never really been 'spiritually strong', I find the WT study so tedious. They want us to prestudy it? The dude is gonna read it from the platform and stumble over every fourth word, i think I can absorb this info just fine on the day. Just to make sure we will have everyone say the same thing in there own style five times before they hand the mic to the resident nutjob who is so off track the study conductor is forced to move on.
Anyway I am getting a bit carried away.
Thanks again great site.
