Will the 'Make Good Use of Our Official Website' discussion backfire?

    Good day everyone,

I'm a born in Jehovah's Hostage, and am still a Hostage until I can wake my family up (wishful thinking I know). I'll formally introduce myself later.

For now I have some burning concerns about the service meeting part for the week of December 24, 2012. "How We Can Make Use of Our Official Web Site."

The dubs who did the demonstration section at my hall aren't that articulate and made several blunders simply pronouncing the name of the offical site for Jehovah's Hostages. Also some of the older, not so tech savy Hostages like my father have since been making blunders in telling persons about the offical site.

Additionally, the average non dub isn't going to obediently stick to just one website or search result. They are going to Google the hell out of whatever doubts or ideas that they have about the Corporation and its policies (dub beliefs).

I think this opens up an oppurtunity for more people to discover TTAT via search engines directing them to websites such as this, and clips of former Hostages on Youtube. Now is a great time to make sure that everything uploaded exposing the Corporation is properly described and meta tagged so that it gets first preference in results and redirects even when minor typos are made.

    With that said:

Do you think the service meeting part for the week of December 24, 2012. "How We Can Make Use of Our Official Web Site." will do more harm than good?

I think anyone who has critical thinking abilities will google the subject and read all the crazy crap this cult evolved from. There are those who will not read or believe one thing that is critical of the cult.

It opens the door for some hostages to research, yes.

Might I suggest a small change that might give you a psychological edge? Instead of Hostage, how about Freedom Fighter?

    I think:

Hostages= Current R&F, blindly obedient to WT.
Freedom Fighter= not in anymore, or in, but just because of family or other issues, but mentally out.

    Welcome!

Unless the elders are going to go around checking everyone's browser history (hah!) then the Society can't control what the R&F research and read. Only the most faithful/brainwashed members will avoid apostate websites.

I had a comment on my blog from an active JW saying that Satan had me wrapped around his little finger. Now, how did she reach that conclusion? By reading one or more of my blog posts! Nice little seed planted there. Maybe it will grow and flourish and she'll have her eyes opened.

    Love the Internet!

    Will it cause anymore harm?

I don't think so. 90+ percent of those who would ignore WTS direction to avoid "questionable" websites have already done so.

Only the obedient "hostages" did not stray to those mentally diseased sites.

You could compare it to porn.

Just your average, red-blood, clean living male has viewed porn sites.

WTS says when those things pop up IMMEDIATELY CLICK IT OFF.

Judging by all the articles [new view on acceptable porn and debased porn] and the amount of time at Elder Schools spent warning of porn, do you think most of the JW Elders/MS are obeying? Obviously not. They had to quit removing Elders/MS who looked at porn or there would be no one to "lead". However, there are a few die-hard, sexually repressed hardliners who would NEVER look at a naked woman [prob including their wife]!

It's the same with "apostate" or anti-JW websites.

The R&F who have the computer savvy, are "disobeying" and cruising these sites. Likewise, a few diehards will not! Issue of "loyalty" for them. For the most part, those who do visit and look can read anything about the WTS and mentally dismiss it as rumor or sour grapes or erroneous apostate propaganda. But we all know that it gradually seeps into some. It's baby-steps. A little wedge of doubt here. A little wedge of doubt there. Then when something happens to them that resonates with what they read: BAM! The dam breaks.

Point is: The damage was already happening. They know it. There is not much additional risk to directing the R&F to the web. PLUS! it will save them money!

[EDITED] After reading Cedars post below, I think I am obviously proven wrong in my opinion on this one.

Pleased to be eating "crow" on this one.

I've had 61 visits to JWsurvey.org in the last 6 hours (10 visits per hour) via the keyword "jw.org", so they can blunder away as far as I am concerned!!
