  I have a dumb question re: publishing corp...

  many of you refer to wts as a rich publishing corp. since the mags they pass out are free i don't understand how they make money from them?

  sorry for the dumb question - curious newbie....

  Members contribute money, time and free labour in expanding the religion and recruiting new members. The WTS buys land and builds halls with the free labour and money that are donated. The WTS does not make money from literature anymore (hence the downsize of mags) but the literature is supposed to attract new members who will donate time, money and labour. The Society would have a staggering amount of $ in realestate, many many billions of dollars.

  Well done informative video of how the Watchtower Corporation psychologically damages people in its intent to control and exploit

  this youtube video put out by a once member of the jws, goes into concise detail the extraneous efforts the watchtower corporation intentionally goes into luring people into their organization to only exploit them as its own controlled and subservient sales representatives for their publishing empire.

  its a bit long to watch in both parts, it might be a good idea to just not watch it but rather listen to the audio portion alone.

  as the video plays along, how many points does this guy hit the nail on the head as to correctly identifying what is really happening and going on in this religious corporate hybrid organization ?.

  It's really well done, except I think it would be better to be written as transcript rather than delivered as a talk. He chooses his words carefully and speaks fast but he isn't speaking he is reading, and it gets a bit exhausting to listen to. It is still a brilliant analysis, just needs to modified for a verbal delivery I think. The more of this bad advertising for the WT the better, and this guy is great at advertising the negative aspects of the WT org.

  He has been given authority by God to make shoes for the world. If you don't wear them, you will die. Even if you do decide to wear them, but then find out that they are not the divine footwear that you were promised when sold, you can't speak negatively of the shoes or the maker. You might get away with questioning the practicality and comfort of the shoes, but any doubting or criticizing of the shoe makers qualifications or divine appointment will see you cast barefoot into fiery Gehenna.

  The man is a fool. I am surprised he doesn't refer to himself as the great potter, and we are his clay.

  Anthony Morris III makes shoes. He is just a humble shoe maker.

  He says "if the shoes fit, well you gotta wear em".

  My don't fit. They are useless. They are the most uncomfortable, ridiculous looking pieces of crap I have ever experienced. I don't know how anyone could wear these things.

  I have been trying to wear them for years and they are causing me serious problems.

  I am going to take them back and if I don't get a full refund I am going to pelt them at his smug face.

  The original Zelda games on NES were awesome, Ocarina of Time on N64 was good as well. Goldeneye on N64 was the best thing going at the time, so many hours spent playing that as a teenager, now I play MW3 online if i want to shoot things. Because of Goldeneye on 64 I still can only play first person shooters with legacy control styles.

  I recently downloaded the original Mortal Kombat series and Steet Fighter 2 for Xbox. Mariokart on SNES was good and is good fun on wii, Metroid was good, even if Samus was a girl. . . . . The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim is a good game, kinda like the old Zelda games. No legacy control style option though, so it is a bit of struggle for me to play it.

  i know this is true every week, and i say it all the time, and i know blondie will be doing her review later, but.... today's watchtower was bat-shit crazy!.

  i knew it was going to be a bizzare one just reading it, but the comments at the meeting took it even further.

  i can't post all the crazy ones, but in summary what they were saying was:.

  I overindulged on alcoholic beverages (WT speak for getting pissed) on Saturday evening and didn't receive any of this spiritual food that was prepared by the Slave at my meeting on Sunday. After last weeks WT gave permission for me to have sex with my wife I had an exhausting week.

  Is the Watchtower the most "dumbed down" Christian theology?

  when i was a witness i used to think that the wt's interpretation of ezekiel daniel and revelation was quite didactic and intellectually robust.. then i left and started reading the works of real christian theologians and scholars.

  i was amazed at how superficial and vacuous the watchtower theology was in comparison.. since i have left it would seem the standard of scholarly insight has dropped to a new low.

  i am sure that this is because for generations the message has been, "don't go to college...." and a culture of mediocrity dominates, resulting in an uneducated leadership creating doctrine.

  What about the 'pioneer school' or the 'theocratic ministry school'. This type of divine education is vastly superior to a worldly education.

  JWs have this view about the 'education' they receive. They like to brag when they have some illiterate bible study who comes into the truth and learns to read at a 5th grade level and starts giving talks on the school. "Isn't it marvelous the way Jehovah educates his people!". Jws honestly think The GB is just amazing with it's depth of research and use of language, some call them celebrated scholars.

  i cant believe all the empty hours i spent knocking on doors, going where i was not welcome, not wanting to be there either, foisting magazines on people, occasionally studying with people in an effort to indoctrinate them.

  The problems with fighting the WTS

  over the years, many well-intentioned posters have been frustrated when they ask fellow apostates (wear the name proudly!

  ) to band together to let the world know how corrupt and destructive the wt cult is.

  i think there are some hard facts about this particular cult that make combatting it so frustrating:.

  I think no.4 is a big one. This is the glue that holds the org together. They try and pretend it is love but really it is the shunning and ostracizing of ex members and anyone who disagrees.

  I would say the majority that leave stay quiet and keep their opinions to themselves to try and avoid this harsh treatment from loved ones. How many do we see here that still go along or try and get a 'clean fade' for this reason?

  No.4 is the WTS trump card and they know it.
