How is Life measured at Death?

recently an old friend died in an accident at the tender age of 35. the unfortunate event has been described from 'sad' to 'unfair' etc.. dying of old age is one thing, dying of sickness even.. but dying abruptly in an accident (or worse, being eaten by another creature, shark etc) is downright ludicrious.. if there is no afterlife in any shape or form, and one dies being struck by a surviving drunk driver or murdered at a theater, a tornado, or mauled by piranhas, what the hell is the point of that??.

what of all your work to raise a good family, helping your fellow man, doing good deeds, building something etc.??.

it's almost laughable to think that one can do all these things and in the broad spectrum of things death can make it all ultimately meaningless....

Sorry to hear about your friend Monsieur.

Since learning that the WT religion is a scam, I have come to realize how precious this life we have is. I think about my own mortality and that of the ones I love. I never gave much thought to dying young, now I see it as the tragedy it is.

When you are a JW life just passes by without really being appreciated. Some JWs almost hate this life because they believe a much better Satan free life is just around the corner. Like prologos said, we should live this life the best we can, it is the only life that is guaranteed.

What is that saying.... 'Keep looking for answers, beware of those who say they have them'. Something like that.

How to identify Publishers who know TTATT

since coming to know ttatt, i have always wondered if there are others in the congregation who also share similar experience with me, are there pointers to identifying others who are also faking meeting attendance and fs activities..

Exwhyzee that is a great list of telltale signs, I can relate to every point you made.

I am always elbowing my wife when the GB worship is being promoted or the speaker is taking scriptures way out of context. I mostly spend the meeting just reading the bible. I cannot stomach the songs and rarely bring my own WT magazine.

I think slim is right, it is very hard to continue a normal JW routine once you have awakened. I have only attended two mid week meetings since the Jeremiah book started and have not been witnessing since I learned TTATT. I got through the memorial season without doing any field service despite some pressure from the elders to participate. I have knocked back a few sheparding visits. I missed the special talk and the zone talk on the weekend.

Eventually anyone who learns TTATT will stop attending IMO. It can literally drive you crazy trying to live the JW life when you know the truth, so you either stop going to meetings or lose your mind.

hi everyone.i have been reading the blogs here for some time and have just decided to have an in put.

i am still a current member of the wts and am sort of planning to fade.

i realise 2 things (1)i have to build bridges in order to replace the ones that will crumble behind.

Welcome Joe and thanks for sharing. Many on this site are trying to fade and wake up some loved ones on the way out, so we can understand your frustration.

... can you name that the wts hurts people?.

two big ones for me:.

it pushes people to the edge and when they commit suicide they say: "well he wasn't really a jw anyways soit has nothing to do with us".. it pushes people so much to do more and more and more that they get depressed, and physically sick.

I know an old elder who has always wanted to learn to play the guitar. He has put this desire on the back burner for now, while he pursues 'kingdom interests'. He told me that in the new system he is going to sit under a shady tree and learn how to play.

My elderly Aunt never had children because she was waiting for the paradise.

This is the biggest hurt the WTS delivers IMO. Don't pursue any of your dreams or passions, just focus on the WTS interests and you will get your reward in the future.

It sucks the life out of peoples lives. JWs focus on Satan and this 'wicked system' and are told constantly that life in this system is just temporary, and if they serve the WTS correctly, they are promised a better one. It is terrible way to live a life.

I wish I could wake my family up. This is life, the only one you get, live it and enjoy it.

as people get older they inevitably lose more of their friends and family.

they ache to see their dead rise.. so ... i die.

This process would take 8 billion years to complete. That is, at the end of 8 billion years, you will have lived with and had sex with every other human on the planet

This might be paradise for some. I think I'll give it a miss.

All this crap the GB have come up with about themselves being the FDS is such a blatant power grab. Why would Christians concern themselves with this garbage? It seems the GB are not really Christians, they are just out to control them. I hope this arrogant self promotion helps some poor JWs wake up, my family especially. Thanks for your efforts Cedars.
