  Since leaving the filthy cult, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing violent video games.

  I’d argue that moderate violence in video games is far less harmful to a child’s psychological health, compared to the ‘My book of Bible stories’ rubbish. Lot’s dead wife, Jesus bleeding... not to mention all the sick imagery from the ‘Revelation climax’... I can clearly recall these illustrations, they scar on young developing minds.. and the WTS is overflowing with this twisted shit, it’s not for children.

  Caleb and Sophia are like candy in comparison... it’s still shit, no child should have to digest it.

  The political system puts a ban on religion, and it’s supposedly the JWs who won’t assimilate and cause the authorities the most concern..... Islam just needs a polite “stop now, thanks”, and it’s dissolved.

  Jesus rejected Mosaic concept of God

  moses formulated his own image of god (in violation of the very essence of exodus 20:4) thus believed god is like humans who feel love is ‘you must do what i want’ [rather than giving others the space in which ‘they can do what they want and still i love them’] and conveyed into the readers this weak image of god who takes revenge/laments for not being loved.

  thus ot image of god is someone who is actively involved in the responses of people on earth.. however, jesus conveyed the truth about god when he said god makes provisions for life’s enjoyment equally for all types of people alike (mathew 5:44-47) as he wishes good for all people [benevolence for its own sake] and renews the same in case they are depleted/destroyed (mathew 19:28) with no intervention whatsoever in between.

  thus jesus presented an image of god who is not actively involved in the responses of people on earth because there is a guiding mechanism already in place—externally and internally.. external: people can easily choose their course of action looking at the results available in plenty because anyone can see the chain of action in anyone’s case: destiny is the result of habit, and habit is the result of tendency, and tendency is the result of repeated action, and action is the result of thinking and thinking is the result of belief system, and belief system is the result of family, religion, country … into which one is born.

  Should kids learn cursive handwriting?

  i am an elementary school teacher of the fourth grade.

  in times past, students would start learning cursive handwriting in third grade and by fourth should be transitioning to writing in cursive at all times.

  as you might be aware, this has all but been taken out of the curriculum.

  Doctors handwriting usually bridges the gap between illegible scribble and cursive writing. So yes, it’s important we teach cursive.

  trying to follow media reports in the us and elsewhere, a question occurred to me.. in the uk, religious beliefs are largely irrelevant to most people.

  even those who claim adherence seem to do so in a fairly vague way and it doesn't seem to make much difference.. in the us (it seems to me) it's a much bigger issue.

  the evangelical christian movement seems quite powerful politically in various iterations ("family values" etc.

  Nobody stands a chance in American politics unless they believe in Jesus, it is certainly a prerequisite to running for president, it’s a real shame. The sooner we bury all religious bullshit the better.

  in the montana sex abuse court case for the first time watchtower has been required by the courts to give a financial statement to the court to assess awards of punitive damages for negligence and (for the first time)malice in non compliance of mandatory reporting laws.. watchtower corp of new york has finances in excess of $2 billion while cc of jw is worth $49 million.

  this doesn't include the pensylvania corp or what overseas branches may have.. pretty healthy bank balance by any standards..
