I can't imagine the pain of losing one of your children, reality is no-one wants anyone to go through that pain.

This really works to shut up the elders and other do gooders prying questions
by harleybear infor what ever reason i have been contacted by a number of jw's as to why i do not attend the meetings etc.
in the past i have blown it off by saying i am super busy, tired, sick etc.
i had the opportunity just last week when i ran into an elder and his wife at the grocery store to respond to their comment.

I said this to an elder who said I should write to the 'society' and let them know my concerns! That was before I left and realised they already knew the stupidity of it and yet insist on sticking with it

it's nice to finally be able to say hello to you all, having been a long time reader of the forum.. i put off signing up as i didn't feel i had much to contribute, but if i'm honest, seeing atlantis' post about confidential information pushed me into it.. i hope i can get round to writing my story - i always enjoy reading others and it never ceases to amaze me how many have had similar experiences.. so there goes my first post!.

10 things that happened in 2012 - my review
by cedars inlast year i did a review of 2011 for the forum.
this was more of a review that focussed on some of the awful stuff that was printed in the literature that year - the first year of my awakening.. 2012 has been more interesting from the point of view of things actually happening outside the literature.
i thought it might be nice to take a look back and put some of these events in chronological order.... .

Was he leading his double life back then? Will you able to trust him again, after you discovered his double life? All the while he remains a JW you will come at least second place.

They've repented by getting married, I'd say.
It happens a lot im sure, but generally only heard about it if the couples fell out.

Did you ever have to walk out of/shut off a movie when watching with JWs?
by keyser soze ini can only recall one occasion.
it was when my brother and future wife were dating.
they had dinner at my parents' house, along with her uber-zealous/borderline psychotic parents.

There was one (I can't remember which one) I went to see and raved on about how I liked it in front of loads of our 'friends' only to find out they'd been the day before and walked out! I've never walked out, nearly did but that was just because it was rubbish, I stayed to see if it could get any worse, and it did!

Over the Sea to Shetland - This is What CCTV was Invented For
by cofty infrom the comments at youtube - if you are on a laptop move it from side to side and you can pretend you are a cruel god.... .... .

Cofty - it's looking very pretty draped in christmas lights just now, probably more pedestrianised than you remember and a few more empty shops. Apart from that, still popular

I am exhausted emotionally.
by PaintedToeNail ini have been reading ashley judd's 'all things bitter and sweet' autobiography, and it has exhausted me.
she paints a picture of neglect and abuse from early childhood on.
as i sat reading, i realised i was identifying with so much of what she wrote.. why, when having an emotional breakdown as a teenager, major obsessive compulsive disorder, obvious depression symptoms, would you refuse to get medical help for your child?
-
happy@last
PaintedToeNail, please know I understand your pain. One of the biggest issues I had was blaming myself for not having spoken up as a child, however my psychologist showed me children don't act and react like adults, and I was looking at my childhood from an adult perspective, which was unreasonable.
So please don't worry or wonder why. As to your parents behaviour, it is typical cult behaviour, this is not an excuse but is an explanation.
Keep grieving, it is a necessary part of your healing. Thank you for sharing, it helps people like me realise we are not alone or wrong in feeling the way we do at times.
