  hello to everyone :) i wanted to introduce myself as a newbie.

  i was raised in and i am currently on active status due to most of my family being very much in, but i am so ready to be done and have felt that way for quite some time.

  internally i know this is not the right religion without a doubt.

  Happy@last - How did you introduce your children to everything and how did you temper their unsure reactions (if there were any?)

  For birthdays I said that to me it was quite important that I don't let their birthday go by without acknowledgement and asked if they would be offended by me giving them a present. Guess what, they said no. The cake was a bonus for them.

  For Christmas I asked each one seperately how they felt about Christmas. My eldest said they did not get where the JWs were coming from, my youngest said they liked all the lights. I asked them both (seperately at different times) if they wanted to be involved this time, without going over the top, and they both said without hesitation "Yes". I bough them fairy lights to decorate their rooms, an LED tree and lights for the living room, and loads of presents.

  They know that their uncles and aunties and cousins wouldn't approve so didn't advertise what they were doing, I'm sure if they were asked they blamed 'daddy'.

  Were you popular in your congregation or district?

  not to start some form of popularity contests here but i was wondering how popular some people were?

  how far did your network go in this organization?

  this question also pertains to those who are actively fading..

  I was/am well known (faded just over a year, wife still in), and only 'popular' when I was needed to do something. I then became very popular when I stepped down as an elder, I've never had so many invites for dinner, that lasted about a month, even invites through the week! Since then, nothing and I'm so glad.

  Welcome here, a hiding place from the wind! I too saw and experienced the lack of love in the KHall, glad you found this place.

  I too was introduced to the cult at an early age, and remember birthdays and Christmas, I am happy to have faded away from the constraints and loveless place and introduce my kids to birthdays and Christmas after they have missed out for a number of years.

  my first glimpse into the horror and beauty that lurk uneasily in the human heart came in the mid 1980s.

  i was born in 1987 at a time when my natal town- a population of 2 000 000 was in the midst of one the most brutal civil war in the history of the continent.. thinking back, i am amazed that wars terrifying images have since taken on a somewhat muted quality.

  it requires sustained effort to recall the dread, the pangs of hunger, the crackle of gunfire that once made my heart pound.

  Jeremiah book this week - cult control at it's finest

  having to sit through this at the meeting just now.. blatantly saying to obey without question: "will you be as determined to comply with god's guidance as jeremiah was?

  ", "...accepting the guidance given through the faithful slave class is for your lasting good.".

  this is so painful to sit through :(.

  Tonight on Channel 4 prog about Child Abuse !!!

  the programme is at 10.30 gmt and is a channel 4 dispatches special about child abuse in a religious community.

  i think this is concerned with a case within the jewish religious community here.. i think we all in the u.k, and anyone else who can access it, should watch it , and then perhaps many of us can e-mail the programmes makers and highlight the jw problem.

  the jewish religious community is probably only about twice the size of the u.k jw's, about 266, 000 identified as jewish in a religious sense in the 2001 census.

  hi guys & girls.. though you can sit back down in your seats now, sorry but not a jw, never have been & never will be, am a totally happy with athiest life, lol.. started lurking here about a year ago, started dating a jw woman didn't i, i here the face palms, lol.

  lucky for me i found this site while trying to find out more about the jw's very early on & knew exactly how this was prob going to end.

  but i thought what the hell lets see where it goes.

  Amelia, it's taken me almost as long to realise I am loveable, don't give up hope in that.

  My mother taught me that the cult she is in is more important to her than I am.

  hi there, as was suggested to me, i'm starting this thread to say hi to everyone.. my awakening began recently, after the new light on the 'slave'.

  i felt it didn't add up and went to check and found out ttatt.

  for a while i tried to find evidence of whether the wt might still be god's organization, i needn't say i couldn't.. i had already resigned as a ministerial servant and a pioneer, had already had several issues with the elders and did not put up with their nonsense for a long.
