At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

British zone visit from David Splane - a report from the special meeting in Glasgow
by slimboyfat inwell i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.
apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.
there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.

Sbf, my wife and one of my children were there, but my wife and I don't really talk so I couldn't tell you how it was for them. I took my other child out to Lanarkshire for the day, we had a great time.

HI! im new here...
by outofthelionsden ini have been reading post on this forum for many months and i wanted to thank you all for all the great posts and comments that have really helped me get through this hard year of fading.
my husband and i where born in jdubs and almost 1 year ago we started to fade , now that we think about it has been a few years that we were suffering from cognitive dissonance without knowing it.
we feel that finally we have our life back , a life that is just starting.

I just can't believe how in the dark they are
by joe134cd inok the term i can best describe myself is a "neutral witness".
im neuteral in the sence that i know there are points that they are clearly wrong on, but just go along with it anyway because it the easier course of action.
i am fully a wear that things aren't the best, but like a bad marriage i just put up with it, do the best i can with the circumstances i find myself in, and hope things will improve, although they know deep down they won't.. anyway that aside.

It's because it is a cult, the issues bring about cognitive dissonance behaviour, it is easier to not think or believe in the truth about 'the truth' (TTATT).

Off to the Doctor.
by LouBelle inin a couple of hours i'm going to the doctor - an intervention.
i don't want to be a burdon to my mother, she has her own life to lead with her own responsibilities.
i've always been able to take care of everything for myself.

When I realised that all I was thinking of was ways to end my life, I then went to the doctor, and it was just knowing that I was doing something about it and realising I was doing it because I didn't really want to die that helped.
Accept what they give you, and yes, find things you enjoy doing. I love the idea of sleeping with a happy momento, tell yourself there wil be happy times in the future also, because there will be, I'm sure of it. Some people have an easy care free life, I seem to be one of the people who lives in peaks or troughs, when I'm in a trough I try and tell myself there will be a peak at some point.

When all seems ok....
by Tylinbrando inmany of you know what has been transpiring with my daughter and the abuse she suffered for years at the hands of a congregation elder.
the abuser is still incarcerated awaiting trial.. today she had a substitute teacher that reminded her of the abuser.
there was a confrontation and she had a breakdown.

Hi, can I just pick up on something you said: "by all appearances doing great"
She is doing great, getting through each day after what she went through is doing great, achieving what she is achieving is amazing. I suffered abuse for 5 years until the age of 12, and I didn't do anything great at school, I couldn't be bothered.
I didn't get help until I was nearly 30 years of age, I am now 40 and still not a day goes by without some reminder. I have learned how to cope through therapy and talking to a close friend.
I would say the one thing she needs to feel is the love of her family and friends, a reminder like that can take you back to the time of abuse, but there will be things she has learned to help her, and each day is an opportunity for her to flourish and achieve, which she will do with the love she receives.

They are numpties, and plainly making an issue over something that had nothing to do with them. I found it interesting that they changed their story on how they heard about the book, and the 'humanity' side coming out in suggesting using a pen name.
