I believed in god once because I was told to believe in him, but had no evidence to prove it. Whilst I believed I also believed he had it in for me as well as lots of others. When I became a parent I suddenly felt a love I had never experienced and knew I would do everythingin my power to stop my child from being hurt and as time went on knew that whilst they would experience hurt I would do all in my power to 'fix' it as quickly as possible. It was then that I became deist. Today I find it hard to believe in anything I cannot see with my own eyes or prove to myself that is exists beyond any doubt.

Talking with a nonbeliever...
by suavojr inin my search for the truth and the burning desire to become free from all forms of dogma and wishful thinking.
i have approached my first crossroads in my life, should i continue to believe in a god or not?.
currently i am leaning toward agnosticism, but all the suffering in the world, all the loss and pain in my own life makes it hard for me to simply let go of the idea and hope that at the end justice will prevail, that one day god can make it all good.. .

What allows parents to shun their children ?
by man in black inmy son, went to college and got his bachelors degree.
he started his own anmation company about two years ago, and it really has taken off.. while my wife and i were witnesses, we both received grief about allowing our son to go to college, but we stood up for him and backed his decision to attend 110%.. anyway, this past week he finally closed on a very nice, neat condiminium .. and while he is getting ready to move out on his own, i have quite a few feelings of sadness,as a parent, seeing him move on is kinda rough, but realizing that this is a very good thing for him makes it easier.
he will only be about 7 miles away.

Advice on children
by Apostating inmy ex-wife got married in december last year.

there was a misunderstanding in our visiting arrangment, we agreed on that they would spend the weekends (once in two weeks) with me they would stay until sunday.

I really feel for you and don't know what to suggest. However, as you are still and will always be an equal parent to your children you still have a say in their upbringing. If I were in your situation I would take legal advice and not allow the precious time you have with them be invaded by anyone else, and I would certainly never take them to any JW meetings.

she is dating a worldly guy and i'm sure someone has seen them together.
makes us nervous and with us being fairly new to the fading facet... should she call or avoid.

Welcome, glad you are free. Think of it as part of your learning curve, hope you are not too scarred from it, many here were in for decades.

in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

There is no 3 year rule, as to how to say no without being 'detected', just say no thank you as I feel I can serve the congregation better in my current capacity and feel being an elder would put on too much stress on me and my family at this time.
