  New Member-Active Elder

  i'm a new member & i'd like to say hi to everyone, intoducing myself.. i am a 3rd generation born-in at mid 50's & an active elder.. english is not my mother language, so pls ignore any grammatical errors.

  i live in a small country in europe.. i'd like to thank you for all information posted.

  some of them have rally helped me to understand and examine again my beliefs.. last new light concerning f&ds=gb has verified the idea that they are popes in the position op pope.. i still believe in god & in his son jesus christ but not in the gb..

  this is truly terrible.

  i just love the statement "instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness concerning the truth.

  " in other words, utterly disregard the deceased.

  I gave a funeral talk, the PO gave me the outline but I did my own, speaking all about the old person that had passed away, they'd had a very interesting life before becoming a JW. everyone after said how much they enjoyed it, some even requested that I give theirs when the time came! its not dignified or respectful to use the occasion as an advert for a religion.

  A JW got checked in my congo

  the announcement was something like "[name] got checked".well if he ain't got df'ed then what does this mean?is it based on the bible?where does this policy come from?how is the rest of the congregation supposed to behave to that person in a situation like this?what happened in the background anyway?is he checked for a period of time or what?any restrictions?.

  There must have been a change in policy, when i was in someone marked would not have it announced, a talk would be given on why and those in the know would guess what it was about

  i don't know why, but it took me up until a few hours ago to read her story at http://www.watchtowerdocuments.com/ and it opened my eyes more than i'd have thought possible.

  having researched the real truth over the past 3 years or so, i felt my disgust was complete, but i was wrong!

  i used to think that bethelites had it made, being in amongst like-minded brothers and sisters every day, but it appears their little 'spiritual paradise' is just a facade.

  Talked to Phone Witnessing JWs

  i usually can't hear someone knocking on the door of our enclosed porch, so i haven't spoken to a jw in person in the ten years that we've been at this house.

  and being that the temperatures are currently very cold in northeast ohio, i suppose the jws are doing telephone witnessing.

  so, today i had the opportunity to talk to two real live jws.

  they mean the leadership.

  all of this is code for: one who is not ready to really study and accept how the leadership of jehovah's witnesses use the bible to their own self serving means.

  but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.

  How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?

  several years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.

  of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.

  i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

  I would do a lot of research before preparing a talk in order to do it justice. As acrough guide I'd spend 1 hour prep for every 5 minutes of the talk. I could however give a talk at the drop of a hat, a number of times my name was announced for a talk or item and it was the first I knew of it, but still got up and did it.

  My Mother Passed

  thank you for all of your support durning the two difficult weeks my mother was on her death bed.

  last night at 10:30pm she breath her last with my sister and i by her side.

  this is a real end of an era for me as i have known little these past 8 years other than taking care of my parents.

  A question on "The Life of PI" movie Warning :if you havent seen it .Don`t read

  this is a question for those who have seen the movie , without disclosing too much in case some inadvertantly see this thread ,does pi represent god ?

  other souls represent someone else ,was that also the case with pi ?

  i`m going to watch this movie again as i think a second veiwing is in order .. it was impossible not to veiw this bengal tiger as the real thing ,look at the well fed animal at the beginning and the half starved animal in the end .. i thought it was extremely well done visually and if i can say so intellectually .. i welcome your comments on this movie ,.

  Perhaps he felt that the tiger was his god protecting him and then leaving once he was safe, but angry at him for some reason hence the hardship. I did find it a little confusing though, but then so did Pi following every religion he could.
