Intro - First time Post- Ventilation (it's a good read actually)
by BLWashington incurrently from houston, tx, but spent most of my life in chicago.
i've never had an opportunity to just get this out... so i apologize for the long-windedness in advance... .
i spent the first 17 years of my life in a jw home, then the real world caught up to me.

^^ What Phizzy said was just like me. I too was an elder with doubts about the teaching of the WTBTS, when I worked it out for myself that I had been lied to I literally had a breakdown, came off being an elder and never went back. The last public talk I gave was not from the outline, and I knew it would be the last time I'd be on a KH platform. the following week I went to a DC, spent the whole time helping in parking and saw that there is no identifying mark of love among the witnesses.
I am however an all or nothing person, I cannot do anything half hearted.

Hi Kate, there is no easy fix that any of us can give you, however the encouragement that has been given you in this thread might just save your life. Keep your eyes wide open with the choices you make in your life, don't hand over your life to anyone or an organisation without thinking about the consequences. I do not believe god is calling you, you have had a real shock in your own belief system with your recent seizure, but don't worry, get the medical help you need, and live your life.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

My wife knows how critical I am of all the WT publications and therefore there are none left around in the house, but sometimes my kids still go with her to the KH, and I find Blondies comments really useful to scan through so I know how to counteract what my kids might have heard being said, I therefore find her comments very useful.

by msconcerned inso on friday all day, the mic guy did a bang up job.....until david splane got to the podium.
it looked like he discussed how the mic should be set up for him, then finally when the mic guy was walking away david says " well im glad we got that settled".
then today same thing, he got the mic guy to readjust the mic for him again.

One years has passed since getting the boot. My story, past, present, and beyond.
by BreathoftheIndianNose inso as of today, it is my one year anniversary of being out.
i simplified it so that most people who know nothing of jws can understand.
in addition to writing this as self therapy, i plan to use it to educate others in my life who need to know more about where i come from.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY believe that their worldly friends, relatives and small children will be slain in the street by god?
by jambon1 ini mean, it's so utterly ****ed up, it's unbelievable.. just think about the nitty gritty of it:.
people that they love & care for who don't share their religion deserve to be killed, left without a grave & eaten by wild animals.
one day, this will happen & they'll be surrounded by billion upon billion of decaying, rotting corpses.

I had a conversation with a JW relative recently, they said that they believed the bible (though it is the WTBS interpretation really), and I said "If you were born Saudi Arabia you would be saying you believe the Quran"
The reply was "When Armageddon comes Jehovah can read all honest ones hearts, and many who are not witnesses will be saved."
Is this a new slant? Or was it just a way to try and get me back? I suspect the latter, but shows that even die hard JWs can't stand to think of billions dying.

Here is an interesting news item:
"Me having contact with my son, who has paid for what he did, posed no risk to the children. They tried to make me pay for his crimes.”
This would have been a tough situation for the mum, even after what he did, she did not shun him, yet JWs are told to shun their family members for having differing views on 'spiritual matters'.
