by franticfran inare there any female members in scotland out there?
i have had messages from a couple of scottish members, and they were lovley and kind too, but would realy like to meet a lady member.
i have a lovely girl from america who facebooks me daily and she has become a great friend and a source of much comfort for me and she tells me she meets up with a female forum member who lives near to her home and has coffee with her and i would love to be able to do that.

Hi all
by Saltheart Foamfollower infirstly, love and greetings to all - i've been lurking here and elsewhere for a long time and have benefitted more than i can say.
i'm still in - i have a genuine fear that coming out would kill my mother - but i've recently taken the first step away.
i told a non-jw friend that i knew it was all a load of nonsense and i didn't believe any of it.

Welcome here, I understand your predicament. I too tweaked my teaching when I was in and an elder, however with more responsibilities and JCs etc I found it too much of a strain, and had to stop going. My life experience and circumstances gave me a good reason to leave, so far my exit plan has worked and my JW family are still on speaking terms.
I wish you all the best and hope you stick around.

I wonder how many in the audience were crying at the reminder of not being allowed to talk to their family member(s), I'm so angry at this, I can feel my heart racing.

It's staggering that this person should write you in this manner, how could they have taken the time and not read it back to see absurd it is. You simply present facts on your site, obviously this person did not want to avail themselves of them. Keep up the good work, please!

First post
by EastCoastMindFree ini have been on this site lurking for over 2 years and this is my first post, i feel so bottled with emotion that i have to let it out somehow so i do not have an emotional breakdown!
i was raised in the organization and am married with 2 children ages 4 and 2. my wife and i have been inactive for about 2 years and i have always had hard questions that were never answered growing up, such as blood policy and how david and his men were allowed to eat from the bread reserved for the high priests without death penalty since it was life or death.
carbon dating on human remains/tools that date back 30-40k years, far surpassing the 6k year man creation date, the double standards and very real "human" aspect on the organization and its decisions and history.

Welcome, I'm pleased your children are young, mine are early teens and it's so tough especially as their mother is still a JW. WTBTS take away freedom of choice, for your kids follow your instinct.

Intro - First time Post- Ventilation (it's a good read actually)
by BLWashington incurrently from houston, tx, but spent most of my life in chicago.
i've never had an opportunity to just get this out... so i apologize for the long-windedness in advance... .
i spent the first 17 years of my life in a jw home, then the real world caught up to me.

^^ What Phizzy said was just like me. I too was an elder with doubts about the teaching of the WTBTS, when I worked it out for myself that I had been lied to I literally had a breakdown, came off being an elder and never went back. The last public talk I gave was not from the outline, and I knew it would be the last time I'd be on a KH platform. the following week I went to a DC, spent the whole time helping in parking and saw that there is no identifying mark of love among the witnesses.
I am however an all or nothing person, I cannot do anything half hearted.

Hi Kate, there is no easy fix that any of us can give you, however the encouragement that has been given you in this thread might just save your life. Keep your eyes wide open with the choices you make in your life, don't hand over your life to anyone or an organisation without thinking about the consequences. I do not believe god is calling you, you have had a real shock in your own belief system with your recent seizure, but don't worry, get the medical help you need, and live your life.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

My wife knows how critical I am of all the WT publications and therefore there are none left around in the house, but sometimes my kids still go with her to the KH, and I find Blondies comments really useful to scan through so I know how to counteract what my kids might have heard being said, I therefore find her comments very useful.
