Do you want to build a bridge to people like that? It's a cult. Continue loving your wife and be thankful she escaped, she's been through enough as a result of that organisation.

Young man walks out of Glasgow convention and commits suicide
by jambon1 inlast weekend.
so unbelievably sad.

Absolutely tragic. The last meeting I ever went to was an assembly, except the one to hear my no longer being an elder, I needed to hear that for closure. These gathering are pure BS, promising comfort and security in a spiritual paradise! Yeah right! I was in Glasgow on Saturday around that time (not the convention, in an antique shop not far away), so near and yet so far for this young person :-(

Letter to BOE re: baptism of my minor children
by Michelle365 inok i posted about a month ago asking for advice on writing a letter to my former congregation regarding my children.
my ex husband still goes to our old hall and although we have joint custody he is raising them to be good little jws on his time.
i understand that in your organization age is not a determining factor in whether or not a person can get baptized, however as the young people ask book points out:

Hi Michelle365, I understand your frustration. I would perhaps word it that 'legally' they are not old enough and that you will seek legal advice should your children decide to go ahead.

Feeling Disfellowshipped
by meep5 inlet me briefly explain my back-story: i grew up in a jw household and was technically a jw until 20 years old.
i stopped attending meetings in 1998 and told my parents i was done in 1999. i'm not sure where i saw my future when i was 19 but i know for a fact i didn't see myself as a "witness" then.
i hated the hypocrisy and the extreme gossip.

Welcome here, it is a place where most understand what you are saying, having been there and now seeing it for what it truly is, a cult. One thing I'll add, at least you know where you stand with your mother and she's not saying one thing to you and another thing behind your back, and as has been said you don't know what tomorrow will bring.

Seeing the name "Jehovah" was a catholic invention of the 13th century and was popularised by Apostates because of its usage,"Aid Book",will new light reveal another name in the future ? Maybe Yahweh ?
by smiddy inthe witnesses say the apostacy took place after the last of the apostles died off , the name jehovah was invented by a catholic monk in the 13th century and because of its popularity among christendom (apostates ) it became acceptable.
and they have adopted it ?.
are the jehovahs witnesses following along with apostacy ?

I don't think so, my wife is currently at the convention, she said that after some of the things I have been telling her over the last few months she is hearing things more critically and plans to do research. I asked her to give me an example, she said that yesterday a talk said that the JWs are the only ones to use the name Jehovah in their translation and she suddenly thought that seemed odd. So they are still banging on about it as some good thing. I told her I know why but wasn't going to tell her, she must research it to find the answer herself.

Oh the irony!
by Captain Blithering inhahaa, ive gotta do a demo this week about responding to the question 'are jw's false prophets'?
.
shall i throw in a couple more arguments than the o es i'm given?......

As a householder then can you not say "I've heard you guys have predicted the end of the world on several occassions, the dates came and went, doesn't that make you false prophets?"

The Confessed Pedophile Who Raped Me Is Going To Be Made A Elder Again, Need Help Please!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inyears ago you read my horror stories about being raped by a jw.
i was nine years old when this took place, now the man has been getting all his works in order.
what do i do to stop the seventy-year old pedophile from getting his position back?
-
happy@last
Thank you for the update Bubblegum, I am glad you are forming a plan of action, it shows that you are taking control of this and it not controlling you.
You asked about counselling, when I told of the abuse I suffered I was never told of any counselling, and years later when the pedo was re-instated the elders told us to 'move on'. After I realised that I had fallen into a pattern of thinking how I was going to end my life and planning it all out, I went to my doctor and asked for help, he referred me to a psychologist, which saved my life. I didn't have to give details of what I went through, in fact it would be another 12 years before I was able to tell anyone. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Thinking of you, keep us posted.
