Hello from Scotland - it has been ages....
by The Scotsman inwell how the devil is everyone?
i have not been here for a long time........totally lost track of what is going on in jw land, apart from the little bits i hear from family members still in.
(they say everything is swell and that armageddon is just round the corner).... :).was hearing that anniesland congregation in glasgow has been (or is about to be) disbanded.

I believe because Anniesland hall is so old and has been in need of demolishing for years it's reached it's end of being useful. I heard the cong had a large donation when one of their members died so therefore at the moment some may remember that and grumble if the money went to Kelvin. Don't forget though Kelvin has foreigh language congs there too so the hall is in constant use!
I met up with some of the Greenlees recently, all well and good and enjoying freedom

Faith to Faithless XJW event London, UK
by Fe2O3Girl indescription.
we often come across jehovah's witnesses near station entrances and at our front doors, but we never hear about what happens when they leave.
if you're near london, uk, faith to faithless are doing their first ever event at kings college london, and their first ex jw panel!.

It was great to have been part of this event, I've already had a busy inbox from ex JWs who now want to speak out after attending or seeing these videos.

I want to be a JW but they seem to hate me? Help!
by Alostpuppydog injust going to give a little background about myself and then bring anyone who is reading this up to speed with where i am today:.
growing up in a family that was not aware of jehovah's witnesses at all, as none of my family members have had a run-in with them other than my parents, my entire life has been a mess ever since we met them.
the witnesses first came to my door when i was 12 and my dad started bringing me to meetings and we even lived with a witness family for a month when we were both homeless due to my parent's divorce.

Your teacher did a good thing telling you to get professional help, it is unusual for that to come from an elder. You need to accept the help from the doctors and I would recommend looking for some support groups that have meetups. There are a lot of people who are not associated with the witnesses who would understand what you are going through. You have been through a lot and are still surviving, well done.
Wishing you all the best.

HELP needed from folks in UK, esp. in Scotland!
by WTS Archive intl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.
please contact me directly for details on when and where the court case will be held (i will know these details in few days probably).
ps.

There's few exJWs here in Scotland but not that many activist type, most leave and turn their back on it altogether. I'm in Glasgow if it helps.

Interview with Jehovah's witnesses
by John Doe64 inhello i am john a student of naperville north high school.
in a comparative religion project we have to research a branch of christianity mine being jehovah's witness and do an interview so this is out to all jehovah's witnesses or former jehovah's witnesses.. what do you enjoy about being jehovah's witness and what do you enjoy the least?.
what is communion like for jehovah's witnesses?.
-

Most JWs would not be able to answer these questions honestly for you, I am trying to think what a more liberal JW would say, it's a few years since I've been one but here goes:
-----------
What do you enjoy about being Jehovah's witness and what do you enjoy the least?
Being a part of an international brotherhood / going door to door
What is communion like for Jehovah's witnesses?
We do not have communion
What is your important belief as a Jehovah's witness?
The good news of god's kingdom
How has being a Jehovah's witness affected your life?
It has protected me from satan's world
What are your stances on homosexuality, abortion, and divorce?
We do not agree with any of the above, only divorce where adultery has been commited.
----------------
Hope this helps, I can't believe how blind these people are despite having been one

It confirms that the older you get having lived all your life in the hopes of the big A you must start having doubts about the company you've been working for all your life -

As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Sail Away inafter listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

I DA'd on principal also a few years ago, it certainly opens your eyes to the shunning! I think though if people choose to shun me I don't want to know them as they can't act as decent humans.
It feels so much better not having anyone hoping I will return or calling me up, having to look over my shoulder etc..

Undue influence - other areas in life
by DavidG inafter gradually waking up to ttatt im finding myself with this question:.
since it is so easy to be indoctrinated with jw beliefs, are there other areas in my life where i'm also under influance of other false beliefs?
from the culture i've grown up with, school etc?.

Do you view everyone as your equal? If not then you've been influenced by something/someone. We are all influenced by our upbringing and surroundings, we need to watch that it doesn't affect us to the point we are judgemental of people we know nothing about.
