however...what differences are there in the jw loaded language?

for instance, ive always heard or said the expression going in service, however, ive noticed in a few instances where some have said going on service.

The idea of “doublethink” emerges as an important consequence of the Party’s massive campaign of large-scale psychological manipulation. Simply put, doublethink is the ability to hold two contradictory ideas in one’s mind at the same time. As the Party’s mind-control techniques break down an individual’s capacity for independent thought, it becomes possible for that individual to believe anything that the Party tells them, even while possessing information that runs counter to what they are being told. anyone who has ever researched, this word, parable, knows from the dictionary definition of this word, that there is a hidden meaning within each parable, so that what one might suppose, is a correct interprtetion of a parable, might very possibly be, a wrong or faulty interpretation, due to this hidden meaning.

although the governing body, of the watchtoer society themselves will tell all of their followers that it is they who are this faithful slave, responsible for supplying the spiritual food at the proiper time, but by their very claim, they are not seeing this hidden meaning; for they quite definitely are not the faithful slave of the parable in matthew 24:45. we notice that this slave in question is appointed over all his masters belongings.

i recently bought geza vermes new book, christian beginnings-from nazareth to nicaea, ad 30-325, i thought it may useful for a study unit i want to take next year, on the topic of early christian writings.

these documents, such as the shepherd of hermas, help us to appreciate what early christians really believed and also provide details of their behaviour(s).. vermes*, as well as being extremely knowledgeable on the subject of the dead sea scrolls, is regarded scholastically, as one of the world's leading jesus scholars.. so to the point of this thread: on page 106 of my hardcover, allen lane/penguin, 2012 edition of this book, vermes commences analysing the status of christ in the pauline religion, and under that sub-heading he concludes that in (authentic) pauline theology, the son always occupies an inferior position, and draws on paul's writings to support his position.

on pages 111,112 he lists texts to demonstrate that paul directed his prayers to god alone, and "never to jesus!

Hebrews is probably my most favorite, and probably written by Apollos. It seems to end the Jewish age nicely, for the Jewish Christians, before the temple was destroyed in 70AD. The transfer of "Spiritual Israel" to the heavens as indicated in Revelation 7 and 14 ( which seems more believable from a partial preterist's point of view... That it occurred at that time around 70AD) as fullfilling Gods promises to Israel that they would be a blessings to the nations.....out of THEIR great tribulation at THAT time came blessings, as like out of the rubble came a better civilization.

Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome here, and blessings on your teaching career. My big dark mystery is a Guinness ! Lol

Well, FIRST AND LAST, ALPHA AND OMEGA is attributed both to the Father and Son. I belive twice in revelation and Isaiah, forget exactly where, and I'm tired lol.

How can one describe Eternal Life, a quality we do not have ......By the words FIRST and LAST....ALPHA AND OMEGA ...All encompassing of time.

When Christ was called the first born from the dead, the first in all things, we know he already existed prior to this in eternity. Proverbs 8, and hebrews 1: the creation will wear out but you will remain..... like melkisideke (spelling) an endless life.

Its more credible that when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD, this was the end of the Jewish era and the domination of the gentile power over Gods people. This ushered in the New Spiritul Israel as living stones and Christs kingship and all authority in the universe.

Red flags for me.....

1. Jesus is only the gate to the pen for 144K...and NOT a mediator for me personally.

2. I'm not buried with Christ in his death and have NO resurrected new life to overcome sin and death and the GIFT of HIS righteousness, that baptism signifies.

3. Speculative eschatology, errounous date setting as their whole foundation and justification for being God's only channel.

4. The great crowd are ONLY alien residence, spiritual Israel is only 144K, but the great crowd can NOT be the other members of the NON priestly Israelites.

5. My salvation is being dedicated to the watchtower FDS class to survive the great tribulation, then be faithfully for another 1000 years to survive another test....NO ransom in Christ for me now as the GREAT empowering salvation in Christ

Effects on my life.

1. Severe depression, blood guilt.

2. My whole non JW family and friends are all satans demons.

**** it would seem that like many other respected scholars, Vermes does not neccessarily recognise Hebrews as a 'genuine' document written (or dictated) by Paul.******

True, I remember I did a free online theology course with similar critical analysis of Paul's letters. It also stated that, what was considered Paul's letters were inserted in the NT in order of Size. Hebrews was put last because it was very doubtful it was his work.
