Really? News to me!
Aw, just admit it, you're trying to start your own church. You even have your own literature!

I will contribute to a pool if someone wants to offer a prize for someone shouting "Apostates! Look out!" and running out of an assembly during that talk. Caught on video, of course.

When I am ready to move away from friends and family (maybe a year). Why have a confrontation that I can avoid?

Thanks cedars, you made me snort with laughter at your comments on those 1 John scriptures. Up until recently, as a True Believer that every word was inspired of God and beneficial, when I came to verses like that I used to concentrate really hard because I was sure that, being God's Word, they must have some deeper meaning that I was missing. But perhaps John really was just tired when he wrote that, or he was rambling on distractedly while someone did their best to take dictation....
Apostate mania right before lunch, that'll make the Subway sandwiches churn all afternoon.
What do you suppose would happen if, in the middle of the apostate talk, someone stood up and shouted, "Apostates, right over there!" while pointing into the distance. Would people start screaming?
Don't take this the wrong way, cptkirk (I really admire your work with the going-where-no-one-has-gone before and all), but I feel like I must be having a stroke every time I try to understand your posts.
sorry it's cut and paste ...................... .
nature 14 march 2013modern birds have two fewer wings than their ancestors.. instead of two wings, the first birds might have used four feathered limbs to stay aloft, according to research published today in science1.birdlike dinosaurs, such as microraptor and sinornithosaurus, are known to have had long, sturdy feathers on their hindlimbs2.
but until now, researchers were not sure whether the earliest birds had already abandoned this extra plumage when they emerged to take to the cretaceous skies over 100 million years ago.. the researchers, led by xing xu, a palaeontologist at the institute of geology and paleontology in shandong, china, found evidence of feathers on the hindlimbs of 11 basal bird specimens (gathered from the lower cretaceous jehol group in china)3. on some of the individuals, these feathers appeared to be veined flight feathers that stood perpendicular to the leg bones, similar to those in the basal bird archaeopteryx.. one specimen, attributed to the sapeornis genus, had at least one hindlimb feather longer than 50 millimetres.
Psh, that's just Roadrunner with legwarmers on.
this popped up on the age website today, might have to buy the paper tomorrow..... http://www.theage.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.
Perhaps it warns people of the dangers of cults. We all have a responsibility, even Jesus said false prophets would come saying "here is the Christhe is in the inner room " (invisible). 1 Thessolosians 5:21 commands us to test all things, shunning and Demonizing is yeast of pharisaical teaching that give birth to suspicion and hate.
Indeed, if it starts people questioning what the Witnesses are about, it will at least dissuade some from joining the org. Unfortunately the article is inaccurate enough that it likely won't trouble any Witnesses who are "in".
i have noticed the extreme lack of love in this group of people who preach love, love, love.. we recently had serious floods come through our area and the jws couldnt have cared less.
our 'worldly' friends did sooo much for us though.
raising money, giving gifts, cards, accomodation and so much support and hard work.. i personally think jws are one of the most insensitive, uncaring religions around.. three religious groups were absolutely wonderful during the flooding of our area.
There are good and bad people ... unfortunately the good are being taken down now with the bad.
"Beware the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees." Sadly the Witness organization is run by the modern-day Pharisees, and their leaven corrupts the good-hearted ones in the congregations. They may still show love, but they're being limited in how much love they can feel and express.
i was studying spanish a little while ago - had to stop because of finances but became friends with the spanish teacher and we keep in touch, see each other now and again.
i just got a message from him:.
"hola louise, i would like to talk to you about 2 things, about the jws, as we are following this fatih, we find it interesting, we haven't been baptised yet, i want to make sure before making a mistake and the other thing that allan and i wold like to talk about is starting your own business.....".
Excellent. Sounds hopeful for them that they want to talk with you some more!
