where was this quote made?
by Truth and Justice inmy parents and i are discussing a quote that was made many years ago.
we know for a fact that it was made.
i have exhausted all of my resources to find it, and so i come here to this fine group to ask you about this quote.. the subject is about money.

They're not begging for money in the letter, and C.T. Russell is ancient history anyway, so this line of reasoning is not going to be effective on a Witness.

I would suggest just the opposite, that the reason they moved out of NYC is that the Society expects the world to get worse. Like the Christians between 66 and 70 CE, they are fleeing to the hills before things get worse (another 9/11). It's not a direct strike from the UN that they're fearing, but rather getting caught up in the death throes of this "old system". Obviously they believe that God will protect them from being wiped out by a direct attack; they've always said this much.

Freinds, how many do you have ?
by Satanus ini'll start.
i'm low on friends, for various reasons.
scientists poke their calculators into everything, and the number of friends we can have is one of them.

I believe that AGuest left here, or was forced out, some time ago.

Kingdom chorus
by looter inso im at the meeting after its over and this elder says to me that god needs my voice because he, the elder, feels that my singing is not loud enough.
i did not tell him this, but singing just is not my thing.
he then went on saying how gods people are better singers than "the worlds singers".

Raise your voice, but sing in a high-pitched Irish brogue. If he looks at you quizzically, tell him sheepishly after the meeting that you're sorry, but for some reason it comes out that way when you try to sing loudly.

DNA memory
by poopsiecakes inhas anyone here ever researched or thought about dna memory?
there's a lot of weird, esoteric stuff out there concerning this, like you can somehow access your ancestors' memories.
that's not really what i'm talking about - to me, that sounds a little too fanciful.dna is a relatively recent discovery and obviously, there's still a lot to learn.

The finding with the mice is quite fascinating, but I don't think it shows the way to ancestral memory recovery a la "Dune" (or the Buddha, I guess). The usefulness of this short-term adaptability is in avoiding threats and claiming resources in a rapidly-changing environment that traditional evolution cannot keep up with. So we can expect that it will primarily be centered around telling an organism what to do and not to do, rather than encoding entire experiences like "that time we went to the zoo and saw the monkeys".

Period of time from crack to avalanche
by NeverKnew ini know, people are very different and have different levels of holds to the organization, but i'm insanely curious about how long an exposure to ttatt may marinate before culminating into an action to research further.. from your earliest memory of a planted seed due to an event, challenge from another person, accidental website hit... whatever... (the crack) to the time the ttatt became a reality, (the avalanche), how much time expired?.
i guess we have to remember that everyone here is a success story and that for many, it may be never.. .

Wow, creepy story, The Truth. It's good that you were cautious that day. That's exactly what happened to Candace Conti. Incidentally, brothers and sisters are not supposed to be assigned to work alone together, so I don't know what the brothers were thinking when they organized the groups.

Leave it in Jehovah's Hands - Your thoughts?
by berrygerry inleave it in jehovah's hands.
is there a more disgusting phrase in jw land?.
the abuse, harms, thefts, suicides, family destruction - leave it in jehovah's hands.. why would anyone with a more than 2 neurons say, "oh that makes sense," we do not need to change or intervene in any way.. sooner or later, god will take of things.. .

It doesn't sound to me like your dad is incapable of thinking, flipper. Just that he's closed his mind a long time ago to considering the possibility that it's not God's organization. I'm sure this is due to pride or simply fear of what it would mean if they didn't have the truth. His statement about leaving things in Jehovah's hands is just his way of saying that he doesn't really care enough about those issues to rock his own boat by getting involved in them.

Why Talking to Jehovah's Witnesses is Hard.
by runForever inwhen we are talking to a jehovah's witness we might think we are talking facts with them but we are not.
they are looking through a lense.
of assumed facts they have already concluded as true.

I'd suggest looking at it from another perspective. For most JWs, the religion is where people go who want to shut their brains off, forget any worldly ambitions they had, and just join a club that makes them feel secure. So if you start talking to a JW who is not showing evidence that they are willing to examine the facts, then you just find a way to politely end the conversation. Their manner of responding has already told you what you needed to know, which is, "I'm all set, thanks, I want to stay in this religion."
