I'm surprised they even let you get baptized! Didn't they "tell on" you? "Hey, she said 'No!' *pointing fingers*"

Cyrus: Yahweh's anointed pagan and conquering ruler
by M.J. ini wonder about the wts's strict view of all worldly governments as ultimately under satan's rulership.
in practice jws are led to take on an uncomprimising attitude of resentment and hostility toward "satanic" world governments, not mere neutrality, as they claim.
i wonder about this in light of romans 13, where world governments are said to be appointed by god, a "minister of god to you for good.

He explained that back on page 2 - " My convention talks were on the Ministry School. My interviews were because I was a Pioneer."

It gets better. Part II of "Apostates are blown out of the water"
by never a jw injust a recap.. i posted a thread yesterday about an exchange of e-mails with a well known and respected elder and c.o.
sibstitute in a spanish circuit somewhere in the u.s. the man is about 50, raised in the truth, belongs to a family where all men are at least elders.
he is proud to have forsaken his dream of becoming a doctor to serve jehovah.

Yes, but to counter-balance that, Paul said that eventually we need to move on to solid food. It's a progressive action that can only go forward. This allows a Witness to avoid their fear of losing their beliefs by starting over from square one. They did their Beroean-style testing when they first learned the "truth", why should they risk finding out something contrary when the religion works for them? It's a big mistake that former JWs make when they assume that all JWs are yearning to break free of the org. just because their own experience was horrible. Many of them are perfectly happy where they are!

Why didn't God design humans so they pay a price with their health and bodies suffer for committing evil?
by yadda yadda 2 inthe laws of health dictates that if we abuse our body and neglect our diet and health, we pay a price in our bodies.
our health deterioriates and we get sick and diseased.
its like the law of gravity.

I don't really follow the logic as to how designing humans with this built-in karma is better than destroying them at Armageddon, or how it would allow people to freely choose God or Satan when the wrong choice would shorten their life.

I've never known anyone to be convinced of something radically different from what they believe by having a simple conversation, especially when they have everything to lose if they listen. That's not JW nature, it's human nature.

Question For Elders - Am I being Paranoid?
by The Searcher ini gave the talk last week on the meaning of the memorial emblems in the 'b' school.
(included subtle 'seeds' as well) i was puzzled to see a member of the service committee come in as part of the spectator group, because he never leaves his family to come into the 'b' school.
(i was wondering if i'd been deliberately assigned the material, to test me).

Ha. Your School Overseer probably just isn't organized enough to schedule in line with the CO visit, or he made the schedule before the date was announced. I'm always surprised when they give me assignments too, I don't do very much in the congregation either.

Applying Genesis Laws to Blood Transfusions appears to be ridiculous!
by Terry indeuteronomy 14:21new international version (niv).
21 do not eat anything you find already dead.
you may give it to the foreigner residing in any of your towns, and they may eat it, or you may sell it to any other foreigner.. .

I just have to say, every time I see this thread I laugh a little. The title is so perfect. I always imagine a man with a British accent leaning in to look closely at something and saying, "Why, I do say... applying Genesis laws to blood transfusions appears to be ridiculous!"

If you really were paranoid, you sure as heck wouldn't be posting this outside the Private forum. Pretty identifiable, if a brother in your cong. happens to be browsing here ;)
