Let's Talk About Sex
by cofty ina old thread was bumped recently in which posters from 9 years ago raised objections to evolution basesd on personal incredulity regarding sexual reproduction.. i remember an elder in one of my old congregations saying something to the effect that "how could evolution be true, if men evolved before women...blah blah" you get the picture.. i have refreshed my memory of a chapter in nick lane's excellent book "life arising - the ten greatest inventions of evolution" and put together a summary.
it would be great if others would add to it - cantleave, adam, tiktaalik, s&r, bohm et al?.
here is my starter focusing on the problem with non-sexual selection.... if the driving force in evolution is the struggle of selfish genes to pass on copies of themselves to future generations, then sex seems counter-productive.

Ever read back your own posts and thinking WTF?
by DeWandelaar inas time goes forward people tend to change... expecially if you get out of a cult.
your brain for some reason gets de- and reprogrammed and you get other insights and new opinions.
you become a other human.. when reading back some of my previous posts (of about a year ago) i could not help but have a wtf-moment... i even felt a sudden way of "shame" of all the bullshit i was writing.. if you want to read some of mine just check my posts of about a year back.

I think it is just a label for something we do not understand :P ... In the time of Jesus there were people with sudden "demonic" experiences but nowadays we have proper labels for these deseases. Once I saw a documentary on television about a girl who got mentally ill and saw snakes near the television while in fact it were cables. She heard voices in her mind but she was a schizofrenic. So... were these people possesed? Or were they ill? I think it is the latter one.

The mind/brain creates them... just like it images someone or things being there who or which doesn't exist (schizo).
I once was confused (something had happened) and I heard a baby crying and saw some hands in a hospital picking me up as a baby. It would not have occured if I was not confused... it is one of those situations that I was truly mindfucked. It was no vision... it was confusion.

by dog is god inbeng raised n da troof i thought there was one archangel, michael ( aka jesus ).
so i am talking to a woman who mentions that she named her cats after the archangels (plural).
how could i have missed that little gem?

There are actually a lot according to literature like book of enoch: Gabriel, Uriel, Rafael etc etc.
The bible do not really mention them like that but if you read the text: "the voice of A Archangel" it is quite logic there should be more... (IF they would exist that is ;))

Is asking questions of logic about a Global Flood effective in waking loved ones?
by BU2B ini was thinking about using a tactic of asking questions revolving around "noahs flood" to try to start my wife doing some serious thinking.
unlike doctrine that cannot often be proven one way or another, this issue can be proven beyond the slightest doubt that it is impossible.. i was thinking about asking a question something like this "i was reading about coral reefs today, and they sure are amazing!
what amazed me the most is how long it takes for them to build the reef, and how long they live!
