If it is something good... it is coming from God... if it is not... it is always your own or Satan's fault
It is just that simple...
at the meeting this week, there was a part about placing our trust in jehovah and not worrying about food and shelter (mat 6:33).
the part was based on the 2013 yearbook p138 and 139 where there were two examples:.
a family went to their convention leaving their chickens unattended for a number of days, worried about if they would survive.

okay, i never went to university , or had a college education, though i`m damn sure that "truth" is "truth" and it never changes.. if you" beleived "something was the truth in the past and now found out it was not correct , you cant say it was an" old " truth ,it must have been wrong/false reasoning in the first place......so it was never really the truth.. sure you can be aware of a "new" truth something you never knew beforehand , though whether you knew it or not ,it has always been a truth.
example:the earth was the centre of the universe ,beleived as a truth.........that beleif was false , it was not an old truth.. if their was something you beleived before as true and you now find it wasnt true , then it was false / untrue .. their is no such thing as an "old truth " and a "new truth" that is apparently accepted by jehovahs witnesses .. if jehovahs witnesses were as honest as they profess , then they would acknowledge when they make adjustments to their beleifs/doctrines that they were wrong in their initial understanding of said scriptures instead of passing it off as old truths or new light.. i was a witness for 33 years before it became obvious something was just not right with this religion and it took another 10-12 years before i found this site , that set me free.
so i ask , is it an iq level ?
IQ is never the problem... human nature is very complex and intelligence is just one of the many elements of a person. Character, Emotions, backgrounds etc etc all have an influence on human behaviour. So... anyone can get hooked by a cult at any time but some are more vulnerable then others. Also... there is a difference between coming from the outside to the inside of the cult and being born in. Those who were "born in" can have a lot more difficulty of loosing the JW-mindset because of constant flow of doctrine. Not everyone can handle the trip out well... and some just can.
i'm a jw, and i have several bills to pay.
me: "oh my goodness, i have so many bills, it's ridiculous!
i have car rego, phone bill, electricity bill, rent...it's terrible!
Legacy... why staying if it can change you into "that"? I mean... it is not worth your time really!... what is that keeps you going there?
well... not yet (it was just a thing that was bugging my brains today).
do you remember as a child or teenager that every time we preached and asked when it would stop the answer would be: "till jehovah tells us it is no longer necessary"?.
the amount of literature is dropped... there are no old bibles... they sell all kind of keylocations all across the globe etc etc etc ... all money is getting centered to one spot one way or another.. also... if shit is gonna happen worldwide (maybe a "normal" world war or something) it is actually not a strange thought that one day soon they may announce something like the following:.
Well... not yet (it was just a thing that was bugging my brains today). BUT it might actually be going that way still. Why?

Brothers and sisters... we have now officially preached till the end of the world... armageddon is coming this very moment... we stop the presses and all kingdom activities since from now on it is in heavens hands... we see your sorry asses in the new world and will contact you then...
It would be the perfect excuse to make an exit for them.

It is all about the attitude...
For most JW's working MUST be done because you NEED to pay the bills in this system. The result is that everything you seem to do is worthless or done out of need... they do not seem to ENJOY what they are doing. They mostly focus on the goal ... not on the journey... so at the end: if you missed THE goal you missed everything as well since they missed soo much.
I am not religious that much anymore but like Jesus said it is best to not feel too much about the problems of tomorrow... in other words: take the ones you have today, solve them and enjoy the rest of the day... drink wine, have great sex, watch your best programs, pet your animals, compliment and play with your kids, enjoy your meals, even enjoy the fact that you CAN still pay your bills. Even the shittiest things get a lot brighter when you look at them differrently
we will be putting our beloved pet of 13 years to rest soon.
is there a wt policy, written or unwritten on what could be done with the ashes after cremation?
i assume it's basically the same for pets as with humans but i'm not real clear on what that is.
To hell with their policies :P ... we cremeted our cats (even as a jw and put it in a urn)... it has nothing to do with worshipping. I am not talking to it or whatever. It is there as a remembrance.
Sorry for your loss by the way :(
talk about "food at the proper time"!!
i was just perusing this forum and stumbled across a post by abandoned called "the joy of sect".
it's a simpson's episode where homer joins a cult.
I wrote a thread about one of the films (Equilibrium) that could help: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/social/entertainment/255691/1/Equilibrium#.Uk08kYbWMgI
The Matrix is also a good movie for letting people thinking about "reality".
I believe in a deity... but a do not know exactly who he is or what he want or if he really cares. The book that showed us is becoming more and more of a sham but I can not change the fact that there must be "something" that is much much much more intelligent.
Maybe it is wishfull thinking... I just don't know. Funny thing though is that I am not confused... I will just wait and see since I can not judge what I do not know
i was doing some mild cleaning for one of the local hoarding witness sisters; her house was going to be condemned so we all got together trying to get her house in order because she does not have any worldly family willing to speak to her.
some of the friends decided they would try to guilt her family, her family was very blunt when they said to tell their sister to tell the stealing bitch to go and f-yourself!.
i got in touch with one of her local family members and he was more peaceful and explained why all his family members hated her.
I think in most congregations you have hoarders... it also has to do with emberrasment I think... affraid of the stink since JW's are clean etc etc
Romans 2:14 is an open door to paradise for me... why choosing a hard way of living if my conscience is bigger then that of a witness? I sometimes hear stories from my wife that makes my ears bleed and I am just laughing inside and think: how on earth could I ever believe JW's are living the good lives...
