Hey! This was supposed to be an edit for clarification, not a second posting. Did I do something wrong that it came up as a second post? How do I get the first one off?
Can someone please advise so I don't make the same mistake again.
Thanks,
Susan
since the days of rutherford the dubs have entered into a kind of collective denial of reality through the morbidly neurotic personality and spirit of that very convincing liar which were engrafted on their collective psyche and since then they are unable to see and acknowledge the benefits they receive from non jws eg doctors, lawyers, judges, law makers and from ordinary folk.
deep down they believe there can be no good people outside the org.
they live in denial day after day and living beneath reality is not a healthy thing.

It is worth noting, Mary Magdalene WAS an ex Prostitute so Jesus wasn't a biggot in any way, in fact she was his favourite follower
Actually, this is not true. This is an intentionally induced perception by Catholic leadership because Mary Magdalene had developed a following of her own and they wanted to put an end to that. She was not at any time a prostitute.

i met a really nice couple once who went to an orphanage in a foreign country and adopted a little girl.
impressed with their goodness i probed a little as to why they had done such a noble thing.
surprisingly, the man told me that this was their third child to adopt.
He died for everyone. What we choose to do with his gift is up to each us.

Guns aren't the problem. If he hadn't had a gun, he could have used a machette or any of a dozen other favorite tools of murderers.
The problem is allowing crazy people to fester in their hatreds until it boils over in an event like this monsterous, senseless tragedy. Being as tolerant, understanding and kindly towards those who exhibit antisocial behaviors -- such as this man surely did many times since whatever happened when he was 12 happened -- as many "experts" have been for the past couple of decades only allows the deeply disturbed to believe that they are right in their feelings and justified in their desire to get even in some way when the opportunity presents itself.
We had a foster child for a while. The things he said and did kept me awake many a night until he was finally removed from our lives. Poor little boy? Yes. Certainly. He was beyond what love and a good home could cure, but that was all we were allowed to give. As far as I know, the help he needed was never given. I wonder what ever happened to him as he grew older and capable of carrying out his twisted thoughts.
It was many years before we took in other outside children, and then only when we were able to guarantee they'd receive the therapy they needed to overcome the mess their parents had made of their young lives. Love and understanding only go so far.
What a heartbreaking situation this is for the families involved, including the children and wife of the killer. So many people will be grieving a long, long time because of today.

P.S. This was especially shocking to us as only a few days ago there was a similar incident at Platte Canyon High School. If we'd lived two houses further over, just two houses, our children would have attended that school. Many of their friends did. Our sons attend proms there.
Also, remember Columbine? The school's readerboard had a notice regarding the Band Festival being held there the day before. Two of my sons were at that Band Festival. They ate lunch in the cafeteria where the shootings took place.
Sometimes it seems like all the world is spinning faster and faster out of control. Danger seems to get ever closer. Do we need any more reason to embrace goodness where ever it can be found?
just got this e-mail in case there are any r/c-model buffs out there.. .
this 1/9th scale radio-controlled c-17 model was built in the united.

WOW!!! What a cool plane! Hubby is into RC planes and helicopters. Just got another heli for his birthday. I think he has five now/ (Why anybody needs that many, I don't know, but he is generous about supporting my hobbies, so it gave me a chance to return the favor!)
I spoil him, he spoils me. It works.

you didn't think you could get rid of me that easily, did you?
(i'm sure some are going, "damn it, why doesn't he leave for good!".
we're heading down to cancun for a week.
Wow, if that picture is right, there's a serious wind issue to deal with there. Take care, have fun, and don't open any umbrellas!

my mother said that the society sent a letter out to all congregations recently saying that they should keep a few days of food and supplies stored up in the case of a disaster.
anyone else heard this?
apparently it has stirred a lot of discussion about the fast approaching end of the system.
So the JWs admit the Mormons were right after all.
should be allowed to revisit their decision and either revoke or keep their baptism.
this is too major of a decision to be placed in the hands of minors.
the mental anguish that can result from it is something that kids should be protected against.. how would one even start the process of getting this passed as a law?
Let's not forget.... there is a world of difference between what JWs refer to as baptism, and what almost everyone else refers to as baptism. It's not just that the details vary, i.e. sprinkling vs. dunking, etc., but that the entire meaning of the ordinance is different with JWs.
I don't know of any other church that expects a baptized member to find all the answers for themselves from that point forward, like the JWs do. Can you imagine the Catholics expecting a newly baptized infant to be "mature in the religion" from that moment forward? Do other churches hold baptism over peoples' heads like a sword ready to smite them down if they step out of line, like the JWs do? None that I know of would even consider doing such a thing.
With JWs baptism is a matter of gaining added control over the individual. For most other religions, baptism is a way of the individual gaining added control over the powers of evil. There's simply no comparison.

today, i go over to a fast food place for lunch, and while i am walking to find a table with my food, a group of rowdy and unsupervised 10-12 year olds come tearing through the restaurnat, and one of them runs into me.
my food and drink goes flying, and i shoot daggers at the stupid brat.
this brat doesn't even apologize.
xj, if you would have related this story exactly as you did, but this time instead of the woman being a leftist, you portrayed her as a j-dub, all the posters who were incensed by your generalizations would now be patting you on the back.
its ok to insult people.............it just has to be the right people.
This observation seems to be accurate regarding this board.
Meanwhile, I'm sorry for what you encountered at the restaurant, but am grateful to you for having the courage to stand up for yourself and for giving the mother the opportunity to make things right with you and with her children. Obviously, she is lacking in vital skills of social interaction.
People respecting the simple rules of polite behavior make life better for all of us. That's what manners are for. Sadly, there are far too many today who believe they are entitled to act however they choose, without regard for the rights or feelings of others. Most of them are encountered only in frustrating or annoying situations such as you described regarding the restaurant, but by the time those out of control children are grown, they might well have advanced to less benign offences.
Good for you for speaking up. If more people did, maybe at least some parents would be shamed into taking control while there's still time to help their children learn basic decency.
