Thanks easyreader1970. This was one JW doctrine I wasn't familiar with.

from my understanding--at least from my instruction from the wbts--humans were not permitted to eat meat by yahweh until after the flood.
if that is true, then why would abel offer tasty, delicious "fatty pieces" to yahweh?
how would abel even know how to cut up an animal for food and know which parts were the best for eating?.

so, what is the "inside scoop" on how the society & friends view american idol & such "competition-type" shows.. i am wondering as my ultra jwdub relative turns up a nose to these shows.
.
skeeter.
My Pioneer sister is not as hard-core JW as she used to be (attended a birthday party, sends birthday and Christmas gifts, etc.) but I cannot, absolutely cannot get her to turn on American Idol. It's the name. She can't get past it. Maybe she's typical?

Where does it say in the Bible that they were all vegetarians until after the flood?

so i tried to find the right category for hobbies, but there doesn't seem to be one.
i just wanted to let you knitters know that i have listed a few hard-to-find norwegian knitting pattern magazines on ebay - i think there are some knitters here!
i think i'm in the midst of changing hobbies.
Kurt:
Where do you find stamp albums? I need a new one, two in fact, one US stamps and one worldwide, but can't find decent albums. What can you recommend?

Hortensia, that sock pattern is absolutely beautiful! I can see I need to add sock knitting to my list.

I get bored with things easily so need to rotate hobbies often, putting one away for a while and focusing on another. So I do cross-stitch (I have more than a half a dozen underway now), knitting (about the same number underway), quilting, applique, crewel, crocheting (I have three afghans currently in progress), tatting, painting (I love doing flowers, animals, and scenes), stained glass, and on and on including current music lessons on piano, organ, strings, and a woodwind.
And I'm an avid reader, currently into Maeve Binchey's work. Her character studies are fascinating. DH is good at building bookshelves as I never have enough. The local libraries always have tons of my donations, but the "must keeps" continue to pile up anyway. I always buy more books whenever in the city or on a trip. DH has learned not to say anything, though I do get an eye roll or two!
We moved from the Colorado mountains to where we are now partly to get four seasons as I'm a hard-working gardener. There's something so elemental about working with the good rich soil and enjoying the fruits of my labors.
A dozen other hobbies are on the back burner for now while DH and I remodel our home -- this one being a total remodel. He's very creative and talented at design work and I do the finesse and detail part. We seldom hire any help as the doing is the fun part.
Life's too short not to enjoy it. Our brains grow dull and lazy if not constantly being challenged to learn new things. Suduko anyone? Isn't life a blast!

Thanks for the information regarding your auctions...I'll be checking it often over this next week as I need to take my mind off some upcoming events. EBay is good for that, too. Can you recommend a good socks pattern book? Will you be listing one? And the best type of yarn?

when i was searching for religion, post witness life, i spent a few months studying mormon faith.
while i found it interesting, i also found it comical in their believes.
yet until i found this cartoon on youtube, it was hard to explain how mormons see the origin of man without cracking up.
So I showed you several obvious distortions/errors/outright lies and you think it makes the video more correct? Hmmmm, well, your choice!
Enjoy.

EBay used to be a great place for selling hobby things. I got a lot for some of my art books and supplies. Then suddenly there was a glut of art books. I had an auction going with brand new books that had cost me over $100 total for the set, all by the same artist. I should have made that much or more, but because so many others offered the same items mid-auction, I wasn't the only one. They went for about $10 plus shipping. At least the young lady who got them from me was thrilled to have them.

I check eBay for knitting books and patterns a lot... just got Domino Knitting by Vivian Hoxbro. It's nordic knitting and fascinating. How do I find your books and patterns?
