Help! Raccoons!

the other evening when i put the garbage out, i got that creepy "i'm being watched" feeling.. elders?

i thought, looking around in a discreetly paranoid fashion.. nope.

it wasn't elders.

Get a can with a really tight locking lid, coons are quite smart so they can get the cheapy ones open. We have problems with coons all summer long and I live in a Mobile Home Park in the middle of corn fields! Lot of trash I suppose is what brings them in. But we keep our cans locked in the shed. Growing up, we had a building (well an oversized dog house) on "stilts". We had just a simple bent nail above the door and the door swung downwards to open it. The bent nail kept it closed. That is what we called the "garbage bin." (In the south it's garbage, at least where I came from). Nothing could get in there, not even the neighbor's 35 wild cats!

I know I did, but it must not be spoken aloud for fear of the Elders' wrath. But really, what do these ppl think they're going to do forever after teaching is unnecessary? Garden during the summer and whitle by the fire in the winter?? There are suppose to be new scrolls so you can only learn and study that for so long.

Witnesses are trained for the preaching work. Their meetings, study, everything, is directed toward the preaching and teaching work. Now, the WTS does say that during the Thousand Year Reign there will still be teaching to do. But what after that? These ppl will be at a loss for how to live without preaching and teaching others, that being the only thing they've been taught to do. How are they to live their lives?

Seems that there would be a world of confused people during the NWO, IMO.

50th anniversary of the show.. anyway, lately i have been doing more thinking about everything.

Vitameatavegamin ~ I can relate somewhat of what you're going through. I'm not sure just what is truth and what isn't, when it comes to WT doctrine. It is confusing. I'm trying to study the Bible and do my own research without WT publications, but it's hard because the influence is still there in my mind. I have to try to be skeptical of everything, which leads to doubts of the actual Bible. I want to believe in God, I want to believe that the Bible is his Word. But I want truth, not lies and deciet. Studying independant of any religious organization is the only suggestion I have for you. If you find some of the WT teachings are truth, then by all means, believe it. But don't believe the teachings that you feel are not truth. I have yet to read Ray Franz's books, but I am looking for them at this current time and would love to get my hands on them. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the task ahead of me. Many trips to the library that just lead to dead ends. Not knowing just where to start or where to go to next to find the answers. But I know that if I keep searching, I will find my truth. And so will you.

MAJOR UN/WTS/NGO NEWS - WTS IS GONE

as of 11:45 this morning (i had a telphone call this morning with the refernce department person named holly at 212-963-7234), i can tell you that the watchtower has disassociated itself from the united nations dpi!!!!!!.

the dpi is now taking them off the list.

the dpi requested the list removal to be done this morning!!!!!.

Has the WTS ever made a prediction that came true?

this morning a thought occured to me "has the society ever made a prediction or prophecy that has come true"?.

most of us are familiar with the prophecies or dates the wts has emphasized in the past.

of course all of those predictions never proved to be accurate so the question is, "if this is god's prophetic organization where is the proof"?.

I was unaware of how many false predictions the WTS has made with dates, actual dates - untill recently. I found in my study and reading of just how many false predictions there were, other than just 1914 and 1975 (which I did learn via the KH, but only touched on briefly) but they try to keep the other dates away from the r&f. If you listen to what they say at present, you would never learn of these other false predictions. This thread is very informative and when I have more time, I would like to delve into deeper.

First off, welcome to the boards and hats off for keeping control of your mind.

Isn't amazing, this "friend" was there for you for 26 years even before you became a Witness. And now, she won't have anything to do with you. Maybe it was a ploy to lure you into their organization, I don't know. I'm not one to judge. But I do think it's a shame that she allowed the WTS to take such a beautiful friendship away from her, and you.

I agree that you sound like you have pent up anger. I myself am still working through it. I also DA'd myself, a year and a half ago. I have lost my mother, my younger sister, and I have missed watching my baby sister grow up and blossom into a pre-teen (due to the fact that I was inactive before I Da'd myself, and was DF'd for about 5 months just after I got married).

It is hard at first, to deal with God. I'm still working through that also. Esp. when you feel you have no one to talk to. When all those who were "close" will no longer speak or look at you. But be assured, you will find there are ones here who will listen patiently as you find your way out of the darkness and back into the light.

May I ask, where are you from? I enjoyed your illustrations and it sounded like things that were used often where I grew up. I grew up in Eastern Ky but am now living in NE Ohio.

this is great!.

most days i have to walk through a shopping centre.. a df'd guy is always in there preaching.

he was df'd nearly 10yrs ago for basically disagreeing with everything the soc.

How backwards.....can't believe how some people will behave. If he were such a good little witness, then why hasn't he tried to be reinstated? But then again, the Elders hatred for him would get in the way of that.

Witnesses who do not want to believe that the WTS is affiliated with the UN as an NGO, will make exuses and will not believe it, no matter how clear the facts are.

So Sad that they have been so blinded.
