  Outrageous memorial experience *sigh*

  That is truely sad. I can just imagine what serge of varying emotions ran through this man.

  BTW, when I was DF'd in 1997, procedure (as explained to me by the men on the power trip) was that I was to sit in the back, near the door. I was to wait in the car. I had my watch set by the KH clock. My dh (not baptized then) would come out and let me know just when they started (as they were always fellowshipping well past starting time). I was not to come in untill the opening prayer was over and had to leave before the closing prayer. I do not recall the Memorial that year. I'm not sure if I was allowed to handle the emblems or not. But the sitting in the back row near the door....I do remember that all DF'd or even those who had been either publicly or privately reproved were required to sit in the back row. As if we all had leprosy or something.

  Now, how things are done now, I don't know. I can only imagine that they have gotten worse.

  Apostate Yearbook!!!!

  Speaking of "apostate", I remember going to District assemblies and there was a person dressed in a gorilla suit outside. He held a sign saying "Don't let the Society make a monkey of you".

  They made monkeys of all of us. We were the lucky ones who evolved.

  i was reading a judicial meeting transcript last night on the inet and the accussed had added vasectomies to the list of procedures that are frowned upon, or forbidden, by the wts.

  is this true?.

  Thank you zev for posting that article. Up untill last night I had no idea how the WTS felt about such procedures. My nother had her tubes tied after my baby sister was born. But at the same time, the elders in my old cong kept a tight leash on their wives and tubals were not an option for them (although being on the pill for 20+ years can have a major negative effect on a woman's reproducing ability).

  I'm not sure if it applies also to women. I would imagine that it does. It was something that I had never heard before. If it is true, then maybe it is because it would be interferring with a natural process, procreation. But on the same token, if this is true, what about all the couples who use chemical birth control methods, since, after all, having children "this close to the end" is definately discouraged?

  Disturbing material in May 15, 2002 Watchtower

  in the questions from readers section, the question was: "would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?".

  to analyze this wonderful piece, i'm going to use their words, and translate them into real english.. "being in a group where everyone else is engaging in a false religious act, a christian may find it difficult to resist the pressure to join in.

  how unwise to expose oneself to such pressure!".

  I attended many funerals when I was in the borg. None of them were a JW funeral and all but one were in a funeral home. I just wasn't allowed to pray.

  I did miss all the family weddings, of course. But when a pioneer sister was married, her father (non witness) was smoking outside and was called in so he could walk her down the isle. I never understood that. Because even if my dh had been baptized we weren't allowed to include the man that brought us together in the wedding party. He was only studying and wasn't a baptized brother.

  Just backwards is all. They are just backwards.

  i just noticed some more anti apostate lessons in the latest watchtower.

  here is a scan of the offending article, may 15, 2002, p. 27 .

  looks like we are all now poisonous roots, and a fellow believer must not divulge confidential matters that might endanger them.

  Rather than betray a confidence, they cover over the matter. What kind of bullshit is that? Most who are disfellowshipped are done because of things that have been confidential between them and one friend or elder.

  I guess they just want to make sure that the R&F know that it's okay to cover over molestation and other forms of abuse in the congregation. God forbid us "apostates" get wind of it and air it for all the world to see.

  If they don't want anyone to know about their dirty laundry, they should keep their shirt clean.

  dear all,.

  as a young teenager, we were always having get-togethers.... you know the spiritually upbuilding' kind ie.

  bible quizzies, really boring stuff.

  WE had all our get togethers outside. An elder in the congregation had a yard the size of a football field. We'd build a fire and have a BBQ, roast marshmellows. We'd play football, kickball, volleyball. Then we'd all go to the local high school for a game of basketball. These were almost always done on Saturdays. The day would end with the Watchtower study. Can you imagine it? The whole congregation (which was about 20 - 25 people including children) would be crammed into this guy's living room in a 12 foot wide trailor! Gave me an exuse to be really close to the cute brothers (there was only 3 of them). We would do this rain, snow, or shine.

  I do remember one brother had a really rude obnoxious kid. At a memorial cleaning we tied her up to the sign in the parking lot for all passerbys to see. Now that was fun.
