Point well made SFPW! And i would add as well that while this 'encouragment' to live simply is given, everyone must also give us the money you have left. "You mean you have no money left this month? Oh ok, just use the credit card machine in the assembly hall foyer then! Ahh! Doesnt it feel all cosy and spiritual to now have NOTHING to buy your kids a school bag? Oh thats right! They shouldnt be going to school!!!!"

The Gall Of WT To Give This Advice To Pioneers:
by JW GoneBad inthis past week's wt study lesson was entitled: 'pioneering strengthens our relationship with god'.. under the subheading 'remaining in the full-time service' in par 14 the wt has the nerve to give this admonition to pioneers: .
'desiring to learn from jesus' example, a pioneer does well to keep in mind that the more material things he has, the more he will have to maintain , repair, or replace.'.
i don't think the gb or anyone in the writing department has the freedom to speak on giving adivce on the matter of 'material things' given the fact that wt has close to a billion dollars in real estate and loads of money in various bank accounts; given the fact that gb is currently building themselves new living quarters with who knows what sort of comforts and other amenities.

Transfusion Experience from France
by Bells inlong story short - my in-laws know that i strongly disagree with their blood doctrine.
i received 3rd degree burns as a toddler and without blood, i would have died.
no doubt this is much of the reason that i feel the way i do.. my mil sent me an article, saying that i might find it of interest - in other words, it is an example to 'refute my contradictions about blood transfusions'.

My wife is a phlebotomist and trauma nurse with the NHS NortEast trust, and can say without exception that when JW's say that they have had a hand in pushing bloodless medicine in mainstream treatment is utter bollocks.
The only reason that bloodless treatments are available is because of the huge lack of blood donors. These treatments were originaly developed for ease of use and transportation in the battlefield. The NHS found that they could also be used to shore up stocks of blood by using them in less severe cases, and also save money because of huge costs involved with live blood.
In her opinion, the JWs just jumped at the chance to use them (que the "wot a wonderful provision from jah"bollocks) as it meant they would be sued less.
As an aside, please please please, if you have never donated blood before for whatever reason, please reconsider. It is the best single humanitarian act you can do. If you have a rare blood group, even better. The blood can be made into life saving drugs as well as for transfusion. You could end up saving not just one life, but hundreds.

Believe in yourself and your family. Its not selfish to want to be somebody or good at something. As long as you don't forget your fellow man along the way.
Believe in your abilities. Your skills. The WT is all about take, take, take, until you are just a burnt out husk. Its time to start wanting your life back.
It is yours after all!

How Jehovah's Witnesses benefit those humble enough to study the Bible with them.
by Stand for Pure Worship inexcellent material can be found within the reasoning book, page 328, para.2, 3. occasionally, i see posters make presumptuous comments like, "all you need is the bible", or, "i'm born-again, so there's no need for spiritual assistance from another christian", or,"i'm saved", or my favorite, "jesus talks to me directly.
" on one hand, i can't be overly critical of such ones because they do attempt to read and understand the bible on their own.
(acts 17:11) not to mention they're generally peaceable folks, just self-misguided when erroneously believing that they can go it alone.

If sfpw is just ringing on doorbells and running away, why are we answering the door? How about next time he/ she / it posts, NOBODY ANSWERS! Tumble weed. Nadda. Nothing. Like a fish seeing the bait and ignoring it.

Hi SnailsPace2!
The best thing any parent can give to their children is a childhood. A good honest normal childhood. But only you as a parent can give this, not grandparents or any other family member.
Very early on when me and my wife left, the first thing that the G parents asked was "can we take them to the meetings sometimes?" Our answer was a heavily stressed NO. No meetings, no talking about meetings, no 'such and such says hello'.
We even went so far as to say that contact with our children depends on you doing this for us. We got past the shunning thing straight away by putting our own parental conditions on everything. You must get in there first.
I am happy to say, the G parents are now into their own fade with my Mum in law missing all meetings since this June.
You never know, they may start asking you questions about this controlling cult. All the best!

My 7 year old daughter was asked at end of class on friday to put her hands together and recite the lords prayer along with the rest of the tykes. She puts her hand up and asks the teacher "who is god?" The teacher replied "god is what you want god to be" So she tells the teacher " ok, i'll be praying to spongebob then"
god. Who's he again?....

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

How do you get a person to do things that they would normaly shy away from? Its the carrot and the stick! They need a gauge to measure 'spirituality' and then they can be rewarded with responsibilities. Everyone loves them!
Or have them taken away...mmm, everyone is suspicious of you and avoids you as your lack of spirituality may tarnish them....
There you have it. A willing slave of the mind. Easy.
