How did you feel when you got baptized?
by Schnufti inback in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.
8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.
my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.

I got dunked so that I could "court" a pioneer sister. I was 16 at the time, with no plans to be a model dub. I had not a spiritual bone in my body.
Until some hellduh decided a swim was in order to even speak to this mega spiritual lady. So i was baptized at Scarborough arse-embly. My now wife was sooo proud of me I got a kiss and a cuddle that evening! Was worth every molecule of water.
Both been out for nearly 10 years now, and much happier. Would we change anything? No.

Is it possible to decline preaching in the carts?
by Skepsis inhi folks,.
i have a difficult dilemma.
since i'm not pioneering any more, i'm reducing my hours wasted at that artifact known as cart or trolley.

Complain of having anxiety attacks. Nobody can disprove it. When on the cart one day, start breathing into a paper bag and say you're all sweaty.
Hey, that might work with the mini servant thing when the time comes! You wont have to give talks either!
Hope it goes well whatever you decide.

How do JW's determine a person is anointed?
by thinker11 ini've always wondered about this.
when a person believes they made a spiritual connection with god and proclaims themselves as anointed, how do they determine whether this person is anointed or not.
does a group of elders look at the person's spiritual resume and check off the person's pioneer stats, bible knowledge, attendance, work ethic, personality, etc and then believe in the person if they have a good track record?

In my first cong, we had a 'tongue of flame on the head' guy who had multiple failed businesses, a failed marriage, in fact all but him had left the club.
I ended up doing work experience with this loser when I was still at school. He was cleaning aircraft for our local airport. Half way through the week, he sent everyone home as he'd gone bust again. 6 brothers left with no job.
I thought that you could be deleted as an elder if you went broke?
He was and is a joke. Nobody believes that he is anointed. 'god' must be really licking the barrel with this one.
Yet each memorial he has the 'privilege' of giving the talk. That's at least 40 years of listening to an absolute yawn fest.

Dose Wt really have that much cash.
by joe134cd ini realize that wt has got a wind fall of cash through various means.
so my question is in the greater scheme of things is it really that much.
for example let's say with all their real estate and cash on hand they are worth about $20 billion dollars.

What alarms me is the SPEED with which they have made these changes. Herd might as well have had a machete the way he carved slices out of each department. That doesn't show to me a sustainable business model being slowly rolled out. It shows sheer panic.
They already have congregational pledging. It wouldn't take much to implement it on a personal level. It will be just one extra form to fill in.
Yes, some may leave, but the gb will just blame it on the 'love of the greater number cooling off'.

I think they will need to start tithing. They'll probably dress it up as an 'adjustment' to the congregation pledging arrangement. After all, its just one more step up.
What else can they do to raise more money? Nothing I can think of right now...

Cheers Darkspilver, its difficult to tell what has sold and what hasn't when the estate agents don't update their websites.
Either way, finding KH's for sale could end up being a good hobby!

Much of the Old Testament accounts do not seem to be historical, shows internal evidence
by anointed1 inezekiel 16 gives a brief history of israel.
surprisingly, it has no resemblance with what we already know about israel—their origin and progress as given in the prophecy genesis 22:15-18 and also in the description that follows.
ezekiel repeatedly says (16:2, 45) “your ancestry and birth were in the land of the canaanites; your father was an amorite [descended from one of the sons of canaan (genesis 14:7), occupied large parts of southern mesopotamia, and their god was amurru] and your mother a hittite [ancient anatolian people who established an empire centered on hattusa].

Nice bit of research Anointed1! You would have thought that if all scripture is inspired and beneficial, the small historical details would be the easy part to get right.
