what was one thing you did and really wanted to do when you left the jw's;what you couldn't do because of the organization?.

Feild service and answering
by shera ini was wondering how you all felt about feild service.. i didn't like it all all,i would have minor anixety attacks and sweaty palms before i went door to door.
i would have a hard time taking a door,so one time,my loving "sister" left me standing at door by myself.i remeber being "happy".
i was very uncomfortable going to peoples door and trying to force religion on them, when they didn't want it.i only went out because it was imbedded in my mind that i had to go door to door to save peoples lives.i didn't want to have blood on my hands of the people i may have helped save with god's words.. with the answering,i almost passed out...lol..i used to be painfully shy.when i didn't answer enough,i would be judged as not being spiritually(sp)strong.the woman i was studing with would try to raise my hand up.the way i looked at it there was no accepting of who you were...had to be like the social butterflies to be accepted.now thats what i call love.

How many would have stayed?
by freedom96 inmy lost new posting topic made me think of this question:.
if the wts was more normal, how many would have stayed?.
was it in fact the teachings that made you leave?
-
shera
I think if we were able to believe what we wanted and rules were different, the JW teachings would be different or perhaps there would not be a JW organization...?
If I was able to sit down and read the bible for myself(not the NWT) with the lit,I wouldn't have stayed.

That is real crappy to tell people God doesn't want shy people......God knows what is in our hearts and some people are limited to what they can do ,when it come to public interaction. What we are able to do and we try our best,God knows.
Alot of those social butterflies, seem to be a bit self righteous, thay really don't understand shy people.
My tounge used to feel like it got 2 inches thick...lol

Do you still call on God, by the name Jehovah?
by LyinEyes inthe other night i was upset and decided to pray to god.
i was outside looking at the stars and wondering if i was talking to myself or if he is really out there somewhere.. as i prayed i didnt know who to address, i have said jehovah, jesus, father, who ever is out there please hear me.
i don' t mean to be disrespectful in saying it that way , but just confused.. many of you know we havent been to a meeting in over a year .

When I pray to God I use God Almighty
I don't feel I have to use Jehovah, well I must say I used to years ago.I'm one of those people who doesn't believe God's name is Jehovah, some catholic monk came up with the name Jehovah.I feel like its renaming God.I'm not sure if God cares or does not care.I choose not to.

If only you just wouldn't CLAP so hard....
by PopeOfEruke inwhats with the jw's and that insane clapping that goes on at assemblies?
can you all remember it?
not just at the conclusion of a talk (which is somehow expected and simply courteous), but the intra-talk claps where sometimes no-one know if its a clap-moment or not..... so the speaker drones on and on, and then comes the voice inflection change, either louder ot higher-pitched, and then you know its coming: another clap-moment......*groan*.

shera
At the assemblies I went to ,the speakers would ask us to clap when the talk ended, because of the interruptions. It would still happen tho.
They would start that clapping ,then stop with a few still clapping. Then he would talk longer..like take a hint..stop being long winded and get it done already.
