LMAO!
You can do whatever you want with it, dude! It's actually one of the themes of the next short-story that I'm writing, where JR Brown gets elected to the Governing Body and he institutes the new "THUG LIFE" policies in Bethel...I thought I'd make it into my avatar, because THUG LIFE on top of the Watchtower symbol is just the coolest...hehehe...have fun! And if you do get it tattoed, you will of course have to post a picture!

I think Blair should win the election.
And if Bush doesn't "win" again, I'll be extremely surprised. You'll be able to knock me over with a feather!

Could I ask somebody here (anybody!) a big favour?
Could one of you wonderful Apostates PLEASE scan in the chapter of the YPA book about Le Masturbation. I need it for my upcoming humorous short story (let's just say that I'm going to ... doctor it) Even just part of it will do. Those pictures will be gold!
Many thanks!

2034's Coming! UN is banning Religion! Where is the urgency?
by Nosferatu init seems that jehovah's spirit disoriented organization has really made a mess with this one.
people are speculating about 2034. throw the whole un thing about banning religion into the mix.
jehovah's people are now saying that armageddon's right around the corner (but what else is new?)..

As far as I can tell, it seems that only the 2034 issue was "hinted at" by the Tower. They're not stupid enough to even mention the whole, utterly ludicrous "proposal to ban religion" spiel in their literature. I mean, a lot of the people at the top bear more than a passing resemblance to rocks when it comes to leaping over mental hurdles, but even they aren't that stupid! However, it's typical for a bunch of people who're eagerly awaiting something along these lines to yearn for even the tiniest glimmer of "light" in their situation.
And, as is also quite common for Witnesses, and much lamented on this site, they've taken the ball and really, really run far with it, without bothering to do any proper research.
Good grief!

Another survey from Lee
by Lady Lee inreading simon's post about how things used to be i started thinking about how the internet has changed things.
many believe the internet and the freedom of information it contains will be the undoing of the wts.. when i was a jw, there were a few dfings but maybe one a year or even less.
people drifted away but we really didn't pay a lot of attention unless it was a close friend.. in here we see new people coming in all the time.

- What year did you leave? 1999
- How old were you when you left? 17
- Did the internet have anything to do with your decision to leave? Nope!
- If you left before you got on the internet what reading did you do about the WTS or cults that helped you make your decision? I didn't leave because of the literature - I left because it was a terrible, terrible way of living your life, being a Witness.
- What was the one most important reason that helped you decide to leave (even if the decision was made for you through a DFing). How boring and pointless everything was, and how utterly ridiculous all of the theology was if examined in the light of logic and reason.
- If you left and still thought it was "the truth" what helped you change your mind? N/A.

Hi Nadsam,
From an ex-Johannesburger, well, nobody has "The Truth". Anyone who says that is laying a true WHOPPER on your lap and expecting you to accept it hook, line, and sinker.
However, that doesn't mean that people can' t be convinced that they really know what's cutting in the world. Most of it stems back to ego, the "I'm right and you're wrong" mentality.
I think the Tao puts things in perspective very nicely, without heavily religious overtones. Give it a read sometime - there are various translations available for the price of a quick Google search for "tao te ching". At the very least, it's an interesting and very different idea of what life's about.
My personal opinion? Truth cannot be found, it can only be searched for. And love your neighbours. That pretty much sums up my personal philosophy in life!

it was helpful to have them separated before while i was trying to make them all.

Too many favourites by him to mention here, but probably my absolute favourite is Holy Quarrel. What a mind-bender! It's a short story, but dear Ghod, did it change my perspective on life in general!
