Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program
by thedepressedsoul inwow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

..and for the record I've seen "he-sed" translated as both loyalty and kindness or loving kindness. So I don't see an issue with either translation here. -

I don't see the original text in any of those. I only care about the original text.

@Robo Bobo actually Micah 6:8 actually says to "humbly covenant loyalty and to love" so the NWT translation in this case is accurate in my opinion. -

A rough count of the program indicates the word "loyal", "loyalty" or "loyally" are stated 100 plus times in the interactive program including songs etc.
Never seen anything such as this. Amazing stuff.

i will keep you updated about that.

quick thought. Of the cranes listed here and I'm going to guess that they originally paid around 3.5 or 4 million for the below listed. Who knows how many others have yet been listed.
How many poor would this feed?
Also why not rent? Long term rental even if charged for 24 hours a day 4 mil goes a long way like years worth of rentals.
Not to mention the amount of repairs these things much take and maintenance as well.
How was it cost efficient to purchase their own equipment over long term rental. Add to that some of the prices listed here in just some brief comparisons are high so they may lose considerably more money.
Was this the best use of the millions of dollars of the friends money?
Just askin....

My Personal Invitation to the Celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal
by TMS inby no means is this a heartwarming "experience" illustrating how an ex-jw skillfully "reached the heart" of a current jw, moving them to re-examine their belief system.
that won't be my take on my half hour visit with an elder's wife last sunday.
no one scored points here as is almost always the case in these interactions.. we live at the extreme southern tip of texas, on the u.s.-mexico border in a city of about 200,000. twenty years ago there were 20 spanish language congregations, 2 english.

The Borg would say "resistance is futile".
...but when it comes to Witnesses it is better said:
"persistence is futile"

Why is this year's memorial being held on March 23 (which is the 13th of Adar II on the Jewish Calendar)?
by outsmartthesystem ini thought it had to be done on nisan 14????.
nisan 14 isn't until april 22nd.
does this have anything to do with an intercalary month being added to the jewish calendar this year or something?

The Sanhedrin of Jesus day accounted for such times as this where the closes new moon to the spring equinox would be in such a way that the barley was not ready to harvest. Why is this important and why was this criteria required also?
Jesus said "take life's water free" while celebrating the Festival of Tabernacles. Hence precedence is set in that Jesus observed this holiday or gave it some importance. It seems reasonable then to follow the 13th adjustment month much like the Sanhedrin would have in order to keep the festivals in tact as to date.
How would you have for example the festival of firstfruits when the barley could not be harvested yet? You can check the barley report in Jerusalem yourself.
Under the current date the Watchtower has chosen for the memorial I see no way possible to correlate the rest of the festivals appropriately. Leviticus 23:39 for example discusses when the Festival of Tabernacles was to be. I don't see how this festival could have been celebrated and still follow this command from God given the date the Watchtower has chosen if Jesus were alive today.
I think the issue here lies in the fact that the Watchtower has chosen to take only one piece of criteria the Sanhedrin used back in Jesus day as opposed to all the criteria use to ensure proper celebration dates.

The Modern Exodus: Perception or Reality?
by Hadriel ini'm completely new at this however just in my joining this forum and of course interacting with others i can't help but notice what appears to be a significant exodus from the organization.. for those of you that have long been in this game have you seen this before?
i'm really curious and we should refrain from the sensational, but is what we're seeing different than in years past?.
it sure seems like so so many are waking and leaving.

@Simon in all sincerity you'd have a way better handle on this than I. My sample size is well not exactly large ha ha.
...and ur right they'll just keep moving the goal posts and people will still buy it. I just think with 1914 eventually you just run out of scenarios. I can't see where they can go anywhere from the overlapping deal. I don't see where they can come up with another "this generation" scenario.
My guess is the next light will be complete abandonment. However they've abandoned things before around the turn of the century and people still stayed so maybe it's all just a dream.

Halfway House: Assisting Youths that Cannot Afford To Live On Own
by Hadriel inhas anyone considered a halfway house of sorts for youths who really have nowhere to go?
i'm not speaking of underage teenagers there's not much you can do there.. i'm speaking of someone that's 18, 19 or early 20's.
it's tough to get on your own feet when you have no family support at that age.

Oh it wouldn't be easy at all. I get that. Partly why I pose the question.
Just happen to know of a couple kids that are really stuck. They desperately want out but can't afford it.
No doubt tho it would get really sticky and as you say just a ton to work out. I guess I just feel bad for them
