Don't know what the law states about charity status organizations flipping property is... i'm guessing they have to have the property for a certain amount of years before they can sell it to qualify non payment of tax on the profit but when you've got a property portfolio the size of watchtower, you can afford to sit on them for however many years in order to wait. Your investment's only going one way and that's up! Buying prime property wreaks of flipping for profit to me. Every little helps.

Just a simple question.
by Sabin indo you think it is easier for an elder to wake up to the wtbts because of the position he is in which gives him access to info that the rank & file would not be privy to, or do you think it would be harder for him to wake up because of all the prestige/power/admiration he receives as a result of being an elder, or does it come down to something else entirely?.

@ esse - Finally a question that makes perfect sense! Yes, it's just a theory at this stage and i know it's out there but putting lots of pieces together it does make perfect sense. Well, now i've said it. It's out. I haven't found this theory anywhere it's just a scenario that's bugging me, fits the agenda for multiple parties and the various technologies are being tested. I think i'd better shut up now. I hope the brakes will continue to work on my car arghhh lol!

A fresh start
by FormerlySandL inafter the worst introduction i could ever make on the forum i would like to reintroduce myself and make a fresh start on the forum and hopefully over time i will be able to redeem myself.
i have changed my user name which was over dramatic and ridiculous in the cold light of day but for transparency and to show i am not trying to hide anything i have adapted the original name and it now has a more positive feel.
after reading a lot of posts on this forum i am feeling more optimistic about my future.

up family)there's huge similarities between the borg and individual members of the cong as well i've noticed.the over whelming love of self, the need to believe in a grandiose fictional version of themselves, always striving for more power and wealth, being unable to stand any criticism, and then there's the manipulation of the victims too.i could be wrong i guess but what thoughts do you guys have about it?

I would say that npd is a symptom, a coping mechanism. From my understanding so far, it's a symptom that can manifest itself naturally when the underlying belief of what god is, is a seperate, unconnected being from satan, oneself and from everything else. Or to put it another way, when one thinks of himself as an unconnected entity to anything else. That seperation plants a seed of thinking oneself is something seperate and therefore can be compared.
To study the traits of people is a monumental undertaking when going from ground up. I've found it easier to go from top down - top being the notion of god or no god and if god, then who or what god is and then... practices preached by the various religions and the effects of those on the people.
Jw's are a christian organization who believe that god is a seperate physical entity to self, jesus, satan, holy spirit, creatures and to everything else, driving the seperating wedge between everything and everyone. Good v bad. Interestingly enough, Genesis establishes the foundation for the bible with this seperation with it's metaphors for adam and eve, satan and god in eating from the tree of knowledge. (Why does the bible use metaphors? Why do people try to take a litteral understanding when reading out of context? This is why there are thousands of religions from one book. Because in the metaphors lies room for misinterpretation and it's these reasons why i believe the bible is a manmade creation because in it's very root, it seperates i from god. Everything made more sense once i got past that. The whole we're all hydrogen blah blah... I've digressed.)
When you take that state and then make everyone responsible inside a religion or cult for their own individual fight in the doomsday race against time where how you conduct yourself along the way is judged by peers, and judicial persons, the individual is constantly in a place of survival from the bombardment of the mind asking "am i good enough" "will i survive". The prolonged effect of being in this survival state kicks in coping mechanisms and some deal with it better than others. Some fall into self loathing from not feeling good enough, some feel they're doing better than anyone else or lie that they're doing better than anyone else. Depression, split personality, narcissism etc. are all symptoms of the coping with one's situation by oneself in a setting where they don't really understand what's going on or what will happen. So basically, when i see a narcissist, i just see a person whos been exposed to an experience where they had to find a way to cope and survive. I often feel narcissists have it better than the other route which i suppose is self loathing. Whichever way we look at it, i feel the very root of mankind's identity crisis is rooted in the seperation of everything. But then again divide and conquer wins wars!
These are just thoughts off the top of my head and i went off topic and rambled. Sorry about that. But when you type on a tablet it makes it very difficult to delete what you've tapped out with one finger! Did i write anything that made sense? Or even connected to the topic?

i am an ex-elder and pioneer and i don't know anybody outside of the congregation.. i have been unhappy for so long and wanted to leave.

If you're in direstraits in the uk we have the citizens advice bureau in every town and city who provide free advice on any emergency housing needs, employment rights, legal advice and much more. They are literally a one-stop shop for anyone who needs advice about anything. They will point you in the right direction and help you contact anyone you need. (If you don't want to be disfellowshipped, ask if there's anyone who can help represent you legally at any judicial meetings. It's your human right to a family life and in time, if you're not dis'd your family can talk to you again!)
In order to be accepted as homeless you will require a letter from the owner of the property you are residing in saying that they no longer want you there. Take this to the council's housing dept. In the town/city where you live to start the process for emergency housing. Check their website for other documents you'll need to take.
Both the citizens advice and the government housing dept have websites. Google them.
"Shelter" are a charity and provide emergency shelter in uk. They have a website.
Go to your local government jobcentre and look on the boards for jobs with accomodation and also ask the staff.
Join exjwreddit website to get friends quick who understand and might be able to help you in uk.
Join social forums in your area and make friends.
Look up old school friends. You can search on facebook for them and meet up. You'll probably find they're already connected in one group.
If you lose your job, i think you can apply for an emergency grant from your local benefits office. I did that when i left but that was 20 years ago. Use the citizens advice bureau for all of your living needs and legal needs. That's what they're there for and it's free! They have a solicitor on duty. Whilst at the benefits office get info on what financial support you're entitled to.
Google your local food bank if you don't have money for food. Many community run places offer free meals on certain nights.
A lot of pubs and hotels have accomodation for staff that need it. You could apply for a job as a kitchen porter locally and say you need accomodation. Look into pub companies for manager training positions with accomodation. Gumtree is also another source for jobs that come with accomodation. So is craigslist. Trawl the internet for jobs with accomodation. If you live near countryside check any stately homes as they have live-in positions for general staff. If you fancy getting away from it all check out websites offering jobs in other countries. It's a bit late for ski season but summer season is coming. These jobs can come with accomodation. Temping agencies will have janitor jobs.
There's no need to panic. Be glad you live in a country that does all it can for people in need.
What i did is took 3 part-time jobs and went from no friends to loads of friends in a very short space of time. And people care! Especially when you open up... most will help you out willingly!
And if you are legit and recieve outside help, when you're back on your feet, pay it forward and help others. (You know, the worldly ones:) there's gonna be a mass exit of jw's from .u.k. if this Goddard inquiry is anything like the australian one and these people will need help too. (It's already started and i fear that the councilling services in uk need to start getting up to date on the psychological aspects of this niche group before it's too late. I don't want to see more lives being lost!)
