Is this site controlled by atheists?
Well, I'm not atheist and I'm wondering whether to even respond or not. So what does that tell you?
under the exterior of being an ex- witness site, is this site simply converting atheism?.
i pose the question, because many come here in distress and insecurity with the realization that the w.t is wrong but still retain a belief in god.
my personal opinion is the threads on god are not challenged by an atheists personal animosity to believers, they are challenged and become confrontational because the atheist wants an elaboration and factual proof to a believers faith.. is this unreasonable?

someone asked for a second source on this, so i'm putting this out there to those who may have visited the new wt hq lately and know it to be true.
i had read from others on the ex-jw subreddit that had taken a tour recently at wt hq, that they had been shown photos of a mountain in china, and told that this is where all of the granite is being mined from and shipped over to new york to use at the site of the new wt hq.
apparently, it was cheaper for them to do this and have the local brothers in china mine it, then having to by tons upon tons of granite here in the usa, even wholesale.
Is there any information on how much they say Wallkill's costing? Anybody seen it being discussed anywhere or rumours? Let's just say I'll know for sure if they're lying.
Regards granite from China, it's not as expensive as you might think when you buy in bulk and China sells it mega cheap. Even granite producing countries are importing it because it's not the granite that's expensive, it's getting it out and cutting it that is. Wallkill isn't even the size of a mountain so I think that squashes that idea and 150 tonnes of Granite isn't that much. Be interesting to see the total amount. However, it would be right up their street to spin this bullshit by saying they bought a mountain because it was cheaper, just so they could buy a mountain and then sell granite for profit (on the sly?). The accounts will be an interesting read. This is one to keep tabs on!
so my handle has a typo, it is supposed to be never allowed to be myself but i'm okay with that because it is kind of symbolic of my situation.
as a born-in i have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a jehovah's witness.
my earliest memories involve being upset that i would die at armageddon because i was bad.
They did so much damage to us. More than they'll ever know or admit to. The problem you describe has been a big one for me. I'm still trying to get over the fear of being myself after nearly 20 years of being out. That's the problem with brainwashing from babies:(
Welcome!.. and I love the irony of your handle! It's really fab!
I wish you well on your journey!
alex cooper, a former mormon, offers a terrifying account of being held hostage for eight months in an unlicensed “residential treatment program” modeled on the many “therapeutic” boot camps scattered across utah.. at the mormon run “treatment center” alex was physically and verbally abused.
many days she was forced to stand facing a wall wearing a heavy backpack full of rocks.
she developed sores on her shoulders and cramps in her back.
the god of christian theism values faith.. "without faith it is impossible to please god, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists" - heb.11.
faith and evidence are inversely proportional - the more evidence there is that god exists the less faith you need in that proposition and vice-versa.. so how can a christian criticise any other faith-based belief?
for example they can protest that all the evidence is against the claims of scientology, but that just means that scientologists require more faith than christians.
And you just want an argument. I'm humble enough to leave this thread now. Because I ''KNOW''.
Peace

You don't understand the word ''unknown''. So how am I even going to explain it to you? I picked to respond to you, specifically you because you seem to be the person who ''knows'' God doesn't exist on this forum with a knowledgable background and to ''know'' God doesn't exist you should have knowledge on physics and maths. You don't. Go and learn about Physics and Maths and then come back.
But...
I apologise sincerely Cofty, it was my fault. I thought you were 'top-dog' non-believer.
Peace

How can anybody be expected to follow your terms when you confuse the unrelated words "absolute" and "absolution"? Ah I see you updated your comment... but it's not strong enough for a responce.

No it isn't unknown, it's just a daft question. Maths is a language. Dividing by zero is a sentence that makes as much sense as asking what is the colour of gravity?
Wrong! Go and research it.
I know the terms I just don't have the patience for the pointless Q&A
Your posts are a word salad of unconnected random ideas.
If you ever get the urge to succinctly join the dots I will be interested to consider your point.
No, they are connected because they exist in absolute. That's why listening and asking the right questions is important to understand.
I'm done.
Peace
(The peachy hue is for the ones who are searching for God and it's a clue which I can explain.)

Skedaddle - Did you even read the OP?
I'm not interested in the story Cofty, if you get me. I'm interested in YOUR CONCLUSION. What did you find?
Nope I don't get you.
What has dividing numbers by zero and rabbit holes got to do with the price of fish?
The OP is a knockdown argument against faith as a basis for belief in god.
The god of Jesus demands faith. Therefore there is no basis for belief in the god of christian theism.
Hi Cofty,
Yes I read the OP. I added to the conversation already and you commented with;
vague notion you call "absolution
and...
It is intellectually dishonest and patronising to pretend you can bypass the process of evidence. When I was a christian I often came across people who would assert they KNEW god was real or that they had MET god.
It is posturing. I didn't fall for it then or now.
and...
I suspect you meant to say "divide a number by zero" but what does maths have to do with the subject of faith Skedaddle?
So, you implied I was ''posturing'' because I had not provided evidence. As I've said already, we need to use maths and Physics for evidence of God. It's what scientists use.
The answer to dividing any number BY zero:))) is ''unknown''! Mathematicians and Physicists and readers of, know this.
The ''rabbit hole'' is in reference to the same metaphor as ''red pill, blue pill''. If you've been down it you should know that there is no end. Or is there?
Absolute is a word I'm using in the correct entire meaning of it as described in any definition, in any dictionary. Mathematicians and Physicists use it.
I was beginning the process of trying to give you evidence on terms you should know, if you ask for evidence. If you don't know the terms Cofty, then... sorry! I mistook you for a person who doesn't believe in God from a background of knowledge... specifically in Maths, Physics and Religious studies.
I answered on the topic of faith already.
Peace
