My wife went to local pharmacy, which is in a very tiny packed out building. She was met at the door by the assistant who said "what can i do for you". Wife handed over script, had temperature taken and was asked "do you want to wait here or come back later for your script, and do you need anything else?, I will get it for you". Very civilizedand well thought out solution for a tiny store. But you are right the fear and panic has turned many people into a-holes. Quite sad and scary, an indictment on the human condition, perhaps not as evolved as we like to think.Stay safe and well

My D.I.L. Works in a Pharmacy and gets abused by stupid people.
by smiddy3 inhi friends ,my d.i.l.
works in a pharmacy and looks after people who needs prescriptions and advice on health care products that patrons need .and the sad thing is with this covid19 virus seems to be bringing out the worst in too many people as more often than not she is getting abused and challenged for wearing what she and her workmates have to keep themselves and the public free from this virus.. there are notices all around the store telling people that they are out of certain items and cant supply them such as hand sanitizers ,face masks ,gloves ,personal disinfectant wipes etc, etc.and she gets abused because she has gloves on ,has a face mask on ,and has hand sanitizer that she can use and the customer says something like you have it why cant i get it ?.
in an abusive and challenging way and its getting her down.. she is getting tired of trying to tell the public she is their to help them and if she and her co-workers get sick the shop will close and nobody will get the help they need.. also they don`t respect the distance they need to keep from each other they lean over the counter with there hands touching everything trying to get in her face complaining.not only do they not appreciate they should only be in the store to get what they need and then get out ,they just treat it like any other normal day and browse around the shop picking up any and everything then putting it down again and buying items that are not necessary for their day to day existence .. i feel very sorry for her and all of the people doing like minded work , who are suffering under the same stress needlessly by unthinking uncaring people .. i just want to add she is a beautiful young lady who has a lovely caring personality and its a shame that she and others in her profession are subjected to this form of abuse.. note : this is happening in regional victoria australia.

Yes Smiddy, thank Zeus the liqour stores are classed as essential services!! Now we just hope that all the idiots stay home and stop running around without any social conscience. Can't believe the amount of deniers out there. Still will be a very hard ride for many many people, economically if not healthwise.
Edit; so far cafes and restaurants limited to take out only, may save some businesses for a while at least.

Will "social distancing" help JWs wake up.
by Tantalon inwith the existing and still to come covid19 lock downs in many countries i wonder if not being obliged to attend meetings and field service will give many jws the opportunity to clear their mind a little and start to see the cracks.
i know they will be expected to log on to their devices but with no one other than family to monitor this it could be a circuit breaker for many.
of course the fear of end times pestilence may counter that.

Sorry I just saw the other post about using cameras on your device to check up on the faithful. The die hards will lap it up, being locked down while the avenging angel with his bucket of Covid 19 swoops down on the neighbors. Should have guessed, so glad to be out

Have you Witnessed a Change in People's Life-Style / Behaviour where you Live?
by smiddy3 ini certainly have , over the normal week i go to one of two clubs where i have two beers over a couple of hours ( i pace myself ) and catch up with a few friends .
one of the clubs every hour goes around to disinfect everywhere people make contact with pokies /machines or whatever we might touch.and they also now have limits as to how many can be in a certain area at any one time.and that applies to both clubs ,except one does not disinfect every hour.. today, their were far fewer people in this particular club that i attended that is usually bustling with patrons on a saturday either drinking gambling and socializing .not today.
and a strict rule of how many could be in a certain area at any one time .. and i agree with all of this , its necessary .and i will be monitoring my own activities as need be.. what have you noticed in your neck of the woods.?

Hi Smiddy,
I am in West Australia, supermarkets are busy early in the day till everything is gone, shopping centres are generally a lot quieter, cafes have reduced seating and no cutlery, sugar, salt and pepper, etc on tables and have seen a few people wearing masks. I had to go to the big green hardware for work the other day and it was very quiet. The girl in the cafe nearly fainted when I tried to pay for my coffee with cash, silly me. My son works in a high end butchery, very expensive, they had to put a man on the door to control entry, sold out every day. Where we live is about an hour out of the city and seems about normal except for the supermarket which is full of people I have never seen before asking for toilet paper and rice!? The shop owner is approaching locals and offering loo paper out the back store room, put it in your bag and only show the checkout girl. I kid you not.Local pub quiet.
Stay safe every one and wash your hands!

When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?
by TTWSYF ini know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

Yes, I fully believed that I would not die, except for accidental death.I was born in and 17 years old when the big A failed to arrive in 75.
I am hopeful for a long life as I have good genes and good health but who knows? Just trying to enjoy the ride.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Is it possible to use this thread to compile watchtowers Armageddon illustrations
by jambon1 ini was informed today by a jw that the watchtower doesn't use images and propaganda to instil fear.
i would really like to see a compilation of all their armageddon illustrations.
maybe a thread or web page already exists that had this content.. the one i am really wanting is the most recent picture of the witnesses in the basement during the tribulation.. this will be a massive help so thank you..

I was born in 1958 and I got goose bumps looking at that pic. The earth opening up in the right of the picture is branded in my mind from a tender age. I used to fall asleep in the KH on a day bed at the rear of the Hall provided for the purpose of putting infants down to sleep during the fear mongering. Night terrors for the next 30 odd years!

How do you feel about the JWS religion after being out more than 10, 20, 30 years ?
by Finkelstein inmyself being a born in and completely out for more than 30 years i see more of the damage of what this religious cult causes people .. part of myself leaving had to do with the psychological harm it was causing people back in the 1970's, one guy my age at the time hung himself out anxiety and depression.. the numerous suicides that have occurred in numbers is shocking to say the least.. then there is the many families breaking up.. marriages breaking apart because one member decides to leave the jws.. the deaths of members or their children from refusing a blood transfusion.. this hit me personally when my mother refused a bt when she was ill in the hospital and died.. over the years and observing all of these things reminds me how glad and fortunate i left when i did but i do find it responsible to others to expose this religious cult to what can happen to people who get involved with it and that's what i've been doing on this forum and elsewhere.

I have been out for forty plus years but only really truly mentally out for a few years. I was real angry for a couple of years when I woke up properly then a bit sorry for myself for a while. Now I rarely discuss it unless someone else starts to talk about religion and don't visit ExJWsites as much. Pretty much over it I guess. I get that they are an evil and nasty cult but I don't allow them any more power over me.Free and happy!

Ex JW of 30 years , still messed up from it
by Doubledecker inhi , this is my first post .. i left jws 30 years ago as 18 year old unbaptised youth and after the initial fallout from leaving pretty much put the whole thing in a box and buried it .. however , i am now starting to realise how much the doomsday messages and the ‘them and us’ doctrines that’s fed to you from birth has remained in my core beliefs.. how have others managed to reprogram themselves ?.
thanks for reading , have a good day .

Hi doubledecker, I too was born in, left about 18 years old and it took me fourty years to shake the chains off. For me it was education that cured me. By that I mean researching the JWs and religion generally and reading Crisis of Conscience, Captives of a Concept, every word of JWfacts website and every exJW group I could sign up to. Also have a very loyal and supportive "worldly" wife, that helped heaps.
Now I sleep well; no more nightmares. I can watch movies with supernatural themes without getting anxious and have never felt so emotionally well. I also cut relations with my still in family so they could not "trigger " me anymore.
Atheist and free and happy!!

Another jw convicted of child sex abuse.
by lancelink infor the past year, the trial for this jw has been going on.
he was sentenced on 12/19 .. http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2019/10/23/13-years-of-sexual-abuse-results-in-37-year-sentence/.
i have been following the comments on fb regarding the aftereffects of this case, and there have been quite a lot of incendiary statements about what a scum he is.. one lady posted the following comments about how the witnesses deal with abusers is quite hilarious :.

This woman alleges she has witnessed first hand the turning of others over to the authorities for child abuse. How many pedos do they have in their ranks? She didn't think that through before she started telling porky pies now did she? So is it apostate lies or do they have a huge pedo problem?
