Are YOU a Better Person Now That You're Out of the Organization?
by minimus inthey say that you're like a dog returning to its own vomit.
do you think that you're a better person now than you were as a witness?

The #1 thing for me was stumbling upon a reference here to the book, "Crisis of Conscience" by Ray Franz!!!
While/after reading Ray's book the subconscience 'guilt' I had carried for almost 20 years just melted away.
I had been a subscriber to the WT & A and had noticed a stark difference in the 'tone' of the WT articles around the very early 80's; the
"LOVE" was gone.... because Ray was gone.... and I only learned of the connection upon getting my first computer in '02 and finding this wonderful site here (JWD). I havn't looked back since and every day now is appreciated and enjoyed to the fullest.Judy

US Presidential - race of minnows in pursuit of power
by core infirst - yes - i am in uk and have no vote and possibly no right to overly criticise.
be that as it may i must comment that the candidates available for the us voters do not stand out as world leaders, neither are kennedys, eisenhowers, or even nixons.
is this choice the best that the us has to offer itself ?
-
talley
We, unfortunately, let the most qualified candidate considering business, economy, management, and of 'world leader' potential get clean away; that man is Mitt Romney. Whatever.... we will get "what our ignorance and class envy deserves".
So I have to agree with "core's" assessment of this sad situation - a choice between two discouraging choices, discouraging for us and for the rest of the world.

Isolation or integration?
by hamilcarr inthe world wants changean international poll confirms what the us's pilgrim founders first recognised - that the eyes of the world are on americaso, after eight years of blair and brown toadying up to bush, 65% of brits want barack obama to win the presidential election, according to the guardian's international poll published today, and only 15% are rooting for the mccain/palin ticket and one suspects that some of those would be voting for the racist bnp given half a chance, not least when the numbers indicate that obama is only supported by the 54% of the lowest socio-economic class, whose neglect by new labour has left many of them clutching at racist straws.. in every country, opinions of the us have declined to record levels over george bush's two terms as president.
one can understand why 75% of the french would think so, but what do you make of the swiss, 86% of whom think so, even though not even the republicans boycotted helvetian cheese or cuckoo clocks?.
the world is showing what it thinks of sarah palin and the bushite know-nothings who have usurped mccain's campaign.

Why certainly "the world wants change".
Especially the world of: Islam and its radicals, communism and socialism and their radicals like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, among many other groups found around the world, including the UN.
Here is a very tantalizing list of Obama endorsements: http://www.politicallyincorrectfacts.com/Barack%20Obama/Endorsements.htm Please take a look at this link, it is fascinating.
And these are all friends of the USA and only wish us the best - NOT!
Believe it that if the "triangle of evil" (Obama, Pelosi, Reed) gain unobstructed control of the USA, not only we will suffer, but so will the rest of the "free world" suffer; well, whatever currently remains of the so called "free world", which is not much....

I have tried to be an atheist
by stillajwexelder ini have tried to be an atheist- honestly, i have really tried.
i have most of dawkins books and many others.
i completely agree there has to be some evolution and obviously the fossil record in the grand canyon plus erosion shows it must be at least 600 million years old.

I too had been struggling with weather or not there was a 'god' in this universe. Then the thought occurred that the world around me was still going to go on; the wonder of this earth, the good and the evil of it's people. My belief in a god or lack there of would make no difference in the realities around me - so I gave up believing or not believing.....
Then I happened across this web page http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/uctaa-pa/ and found that I was not the only person that really just "Did Not Know". And what especially delighted me about this 'group' is their delightful sense of humor about the whole subject and about life in general.
If you go to the page, be sure to read the 'prayer' too, it's really humorous. And the UCTAA also has a 'forum' http://www.dallasagnostics.org/index.php?sid=7df12a5cd86186f69543f23a8120908e
Enjoy.
talley/Judy, who met you at the Apostafest in Stevens Point, WI, back in '05 (the one with out electrical power... remember?)

Why does guilt often remain so long with those who've left the JWs?
by And He Ran ini would be interested in getting people's input in why so many jws - including me from time to time, though less so now - seem to be burdened by guilt after they've left, even after they've successfully faded and aren't being hassled by family or elders.
is it a residual leftover of the indoctrination over the years?
i welcome your comments.

In answer to the OP's question:
Because one has not read Ray Franz's book "CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE" and come to see and understand that the whole basis of the WBTS is unscriptural. Once that is understood, any 'guilt' is GONE from one's mind/conscience along with any JW based unhappiness.

I was wrong
by Junction-Guy inthis is hard for me to say, i don't even know where to begin.. .
first off i was wrong for judging a whole group of people based on the actions of a few others.. .
there have been many courteous replies from some of the gay posters on here, and i know it must have been hard considering all the things that i said.

My Dachshund Dog is acting strange
by Undecided inmy wife bought a little rubber toy that makes a sound when you squeeze it.
it sort of looks like a small puppy.
normally my little dog will play with these toys, bite them and make them squeel, throw them around the floor, but this one is different to her.

I go along with Deputy Dog's line of thinking on this; she is definitely "mothering" that toy.
Spayed or not, I think it best to remove the toy from her as there is a strong possibility that she may soon begin to produce milk for the 'pup'. Which would add more stress to her already triggered hormones and the possibility of mastitice because of milk engorged breasts with no relief.
