Apathetic Agnostic in Pennsylvania
1. The existence of a Supreme Being is unknown and unknowable.
To believe in the existence of a god is an act of faith. To believe in the nonexistence of a god is likewise an act of faith. There is no evidence that there is a Supreme Being nor is there evidence there is not a Supreme Being. Faith is not knowledge. We can only state with assurance that we do not know.
2. If there is a Supreme Being, then that being appears to act as if apathetic to events in our universe.
All events in our Universe, including its creation, can be explained with or without the existence of a Supreme Being. Thus, if there is indeed a God, then that god has had no more impact than no god at all. To all appearances, any purported Supreme Being is indifferent to our Universe and to its inhabitants.
3. We are apathetic to the existence or nonexistence of a Supreme Being.
If there is a God, and that God does not appear to care, then there is no reason to concern ourselves with whether or not a Supreme Being exists, nor should we have any interest in satisfying the purported needs of that Supreme Being.

What's your present belief ?
by JH in.
without attacking anyone for their beliefs, feel free to state what you believe in right now.. personally, i still believe in a higher power, a creator, call him jehovah if you wish, a god that will put things back right eventually.

Nascar - Tony Stewart
by Moomin indoes anyone else have a massive crush on tony stewart or is it just me?
i hope it is just me.

Good for you Moomin. That just goes to show that you have excellent taste in men and I am sure you are not the only one that really admires Tony Stewart. So nope, it's not just you.
Ok, he might be a bit 'pudgy' but a cute pudgy, and unshaven yet 'cleans up really well'. As for "bad tempered and immature" I do not think so; he just DOES NOT SUFFER FOOLS with condesention and graciousness as he has no time to suffer FOOLS and there are pleanty of fools in the media and NA$CAR.
Tony Stewart has excelled and earned Championships in EVERY form of auto racing that he has been in!
We have watched him race both NA$CAR Busch and Cup in person many times and the one that stands out in my mind is the '95 Busch race at Milwaukee, WI.
There was a white, unsponsored, #15 in that race that for various reasons came from the back to the top five twice. At that point I had to look in the field lineup who was in the #15 - Tony Stweart - never heard of him before because we had never paid attention to 'open wheel racing'. But he sure could handle the car and again had to come from the back to the front for a third time!! We were so impressed and entertained that we began to watch for him and became instant 'fan's of his. -

I can think of one example right here on this board; our own youthful, newly 'emancipated', dearly loved R*****R***.
He no longer has the time to entertain us with his humorous yet wise observations of the world around him and is evidently spending time and $ on tatoos. I hope it is a phase that will pass. I hope he recovers his humor and goodwill as time heals his grevious emotional wounds inflicted by the WTBTS through his Mom.
I miss him, think of him often, and wish him good health, happiness, and sucess.

Smokey Cat is back from the animal hospital
by Skimmer inmy cat smokey has recently returned from the animal hospital after about a week full of doubts that he would make it to see another day.
he is recovering from an infection, idiopathic weight loss, and some other problems.
smokey is finally starting to eat (just a little) and is using his litter box.

I'll bet Smokey is glad to be back home with you too, and that both of you are "sleeping better at night".
Have an honest talk with Smokey about how you are willing to help him as long as he wants to be helped and ask him to 'tell' you when he is in pain or too tired to go on.
I know this sounds a little "out there", but after the 'talk' you will KNOW in the days, weeks, months ahead if he is just having a bad day or if it's 'time'.
Thank you for taking such good care of your buddy.
Wishing you and Smokey all the best, Judy

When do you put a dog down?
by katiekitten inim at my dads house at the moment and they have this dog thats 14 years old, and apparently this brand of dog has an average life expectancy of 10, so shes had a good innings.. now im not a dog owner, so its pretty easy for me to say i think they should put the dog down.
my dads wife is very sentimental about the dog.
i would say she was very attached to it, but for all her sentimentality, she has never walked the dog (its always been my dad) and she is not the one who gets up in the night with a mop and bucket - that'd be dad too.

If It Should Be
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
An pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, cannot be won.You will be sad, I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test. We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
Would not want me to suffer so
When the time comes please let me go.Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.I know in time you will see
It is a kindness you do to me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved.Don't grieve it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
We've been so close we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears. So I am glad, not that she's gone
But that this earth she roamed and lived upon
Was my earth, too, that I had closely known
And loved her and that my love I'd shown.Tears over her departure?
Nay - a smile
That I had walked with her a little while.Author - unknown

My self and our dog both had lymes and were treated with a month's course of tetracycline (sp).
This was several years ago so there may be new treatment protocols now. Glad your hubby's dr. recognized the seriousness of the situation and made the proper diagnosis.
I hope he makes a full recovery. Best Wishes to you both.

may we humbly suggest the following, written by Roger Zelazny:
Insofar as I may be heard by anything, which may or may not care what I say, I ask, if it matters, that you be forgiven for anything you may have done or failed to do which requires forgiveness. Conversely, if not forgiveness but something else may be required to insure any possible benefit for which you may be eligible after the destruction of your body, I ask that this, whatever it may be, be granted or withheld, as the case may be, in such a manner as to insure your receiving said benefit. I ask this in my capacity as your elected intermediary between yourself and that which may not be yourself, but which may have an interest in the matter of your receiving as much as it is possible for you to receive of this thing, and which may in some way be influenced by this ceremony. Amen. -

to kid-A, say what?
Anyway, I still smoke just under a pack a day and enjoy smoking most with morning coffee, after meals, just before bed, and with ADULT BEVERAGES!
I can't even imagine drinking without a cigarette(s). When eating out, if it is a (Natzi)smoke-free place I will always pass on the wine, kaluha, brandy, whatever if I cannot smoke and order iced tea or water.
Sheeesshhh, they did not have to go to the bother of that study - I could have told them that.
Another dirty little scientific secret is that nicotine is a mild antidepressent.

Does God bless "Non JW's" as well?
by JH inmy sister phoned my mother yesterday and she was all happy that her son found a good job.
and since she belongs to another religion, she said "god blessed us".
so, in my jw mind, i said to myself, "nah, it can't be".
-
talley
I think this is simply and instance of, "God helps those that help themselves."
He would not have 'found' that good job if he had not been 'looking for' that job.
