Is the Bible truly inspired?

so i was reading the book of daniel, starting with chapter 4 (nebuchadnezzar's famous tree chopping/banding dream where the 7 times is introduced) but i noticed that when you don't cherry pick verses and just read straight thru - it really seems like some children's book that was poorly written.

even though the borg says that this book as written by daniel, chapter 4 is clearly written by "king nebuchad·nezzar to all the peoples, nations, and language groups dwelling in all the earth" after the tree chopping business.

) of the rest of the chapters seem to be written in 3rd person (odd, if you are writing about your experiences).

In 1 Sam.17:53-56 The Bible plainly identifies David as the slayer of the philistine Goliath.

However in 2 Sam.21:19 it states in a war with the Philistines "....and Elhanan the son of Ja-a-re-ore-gim the Bethle-hemite got to strike down Goliath the Gittite the shaft of whose spear was like the beam of loom workers."

On another note according to Genesis the Sun was a luminary for the day and the moon was a luminary for the night.

Granted the Sun is regular as clockwork for being a luminary for the day but the moon as a luminary for the night ?

Many times in it`s cycle the Moon never appears in the night sky because it is on the other side of the earth in the day time and quite visible.

Just saying.

so i was just comparing several quotes from different watchtower publications related to 1914. in my experience, pre–1914 publications point to this year as the end, and post–1914 publications point to this year as the start of the last days.

so i was reading awake!

from 1973 january 22 p. 8 where it claims that jehovah's witnesses have always pointed to year 1914 as the beginning of the last days.

I`m sure you will find a quote either from IBSA /WT publications in a previous post about" Watchtower Society Embarrassments" in their publications originally posted about 13 years ago by vinny and just recently bumped.

Russell definetly taught that he and his faithful followers would be taken to heaven in 1914 while the rest of mankind would be punished by the wrath of God .

But then again you could also say "Haven`t J.W`s always claimed that they have the truth ?"

Why Jehovah witnesses don't say, "Bless you" ?

bless you, that was a big sneeze you let out sister.. sister- ah, what does "bless you" mean?.

oh, it's pagan.

because people bless the soul of the person so they don't escape from their physical bodies.. sister- right, it is difficult to change the little things, but we can please jehovah by staying away from those things.. .... this is a scenario that happened when i accidentally (naturally) said "bless you" to the jw sister.

The God of This System Of Things 2 Cor.4:4 is the same God of Rom 13:1-7

aren`t these two scriptures talking about the one and same god ?.

2 cor.4:4 speaks about the god of this system of things blinding the minds of unbelievers .. this scripture has always been attributed as to applying to satan the devil.

he is not blinding the minds of believers but unbelievers and i think that is a critical point about 2cor.4:4. rom.13:1-7 states that christians should be in subjection to the superior authorities under the arrangement of god and whoever opposers the authority has taken a stand against god.

He is not blinding the minds of believers but unbelievers and I think that is a critical point about 2Cor.4:4

Rom.13:1-7 States that Christians should be in subjection to the Superior Authorities under the arrangement of God and whoever opposers the authority has taken a stand against God

It goes on further to state :13:4' for it ( The superior Authorities) is gods minister to you for your good ,but if you are doing what is bad be in fear for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword for it is Gods minister to you for your good but if you are doing what is bad be in fear of the authority'.

Doesn`t this scripture show that God Jehovah is the God of this system of things ? and not Satan the devil ?

And couldn`t the scripture of 2 Cor.4:4 be applied to Jehovah God because he is blinding the minds of unbelievers and not believers.?

I wonder if their are any parents of theses children on here now .May 22 1994

i know it could be a sensitive subject however we were all once firm believers and could have very well let one of our loved ones die due to what we once believed.. and not to be judgemental on what we would have done or did do in the past ,i sometime wonder if any of the parents or even one parent of the children of the may 22nd 1994 magazine of "youths who put god first " have now regretted their decision to let their children make this decision on their own.. after all these years i find it hard to believe that not one of them have no regrets to what happened to their child.. i can also accept that it would be extremely hard to admit that you allowed your child to make a decision to die on a belief you instilled in them that you no longer now believe in.

i think that would be very hard to live with and come to terms with.. if any of you are here my heart goes out to you because you have gone through hell and my thoughts/vibes are with you..

In the 1960`s here in Melbourne Australia when I was a new convert their was a sensational case being played out in the media about a couple ,JW`s who had refused a blood transfusion for their baby who died.

I heard years later he was Dis-fellowshipped and that their marriage had broken down and I always felt that it was such a sad ending for them for what they had gone through as a couple so many years before.

I often wonder what became of both of them after all these years.

Pale.Emperor Meets A Born Again Christian

of all the religions out there one religion that's always filled me with exasperation was the born again christian belief system.

to make matters worse, the street preachers i see and hear here in liverpool always tend to be crack pot, loud mouths, attention seeking and just plain annoying.. this idea that "im going to heaven, you're going to hell" is enough to make me not want to worship their god even if he did exist.

but today i met two.

There are things you "just know" are wrong isnt there? That was put in there by God. We were made in his image.

I think i would have said something like :Maybe that`s why their are so many wars on this earth ,the God of the Bible was constantly instructing the Israelites to exterminate this nation or that Nation ,man woman and child mind you, when he wasn`t destroying all life on earth except for a few species in the flood.

The God of the Bible is guilty of killing or having sanctioned the killing of more millions of people either directly or indirectly than Satan has ever been guilty of I think his last count was about 10 individuals.
