John 3:16 "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son" ...Really ?
by smiddy3 infor four thousand years god never gave two hoots about the world of mankind that is suggested by john 3;16 and how do we know that ?
simply by looking at his dealings with mankind for the first 4000 years of his dealings with humans as shown by the "old testament".
1. god only dealt with a couple or a few individuals early on in the o.t.. 2.god only dealt with one family line whom he chose above anybody else .. 3.this family line the israelites became a nation whom god dealt with exclusively.. 4.to the exclusion of every other peoples on earth ,he favoured who became the israelites and he obviously had a hatred for any other people and was instrumental in trying to get the israelites to commit genocide on many occasions against these people who god had never taken an interest in .. 5.jehovah god on numerous occasions instructed the israelite`s/jews wipe out the amorite`s , the hittites ,the jebusite`s ,etc ,etc, and with the blessing of him not to feel sorry for them kill old man woman and child and do not feel sorry for them.. jehovah god actually gave the israelites /jews sanctions to commit genocide amongst these nations in the "old testament ".

1. God only dealt with a couple or a few individuals early on in the O.T.
2.God only dealt with one family line whom he chose above anybody else .
3.This family line the Israelites became a nation whom God dealt with exclusively.
4.To the exclusion of every other peoples on earth ,he favoured who became the Israelites and he obviously had a hatred for any other people and was instrumental in trying to get the Israelites to commit genocide on many occasions against these people who God had never taken an interest in .
5.Jehovah God on numerous occasions instructed the Israelite`s/Jews wipe out the Amorite`s , the Hittites ,the Jebusite`s ,etc ,etc, and with the blessing of him not to feel sorry for them kill old man woman and child and do not feel sorry for them.
Jehovah god actually gave the Israelites /jews sanctions to commit genocide amongst these nations in the "Old Testament "
So it sort of contradicts what is said in John 3: 16 doesn`t it .

Jehovah`s Witnesses stated in their publications notably the book "Aid To Bible Understanding " that they settled on the name "Jehovah" because it was the name most commonly used in the world for God ?
And who would be the ones in the world that would be the most likely to use Gods name ?
No prizes for guessing it would Christendom and all its Scholars /clergy and bible translators ,authors etc, etc.
I attended a funeral not so long ago for a friend and one of the songs in the service had the name Jehovah a number of times in it and that was an Anglican service.
Also many years ago the WTB&TS put out a booklet about Conventions that was happening all around the world containing photo`s about the worlds religions and it was shown that many churches around the world in Christendom had the name Jehovah inscribed in stone on the buildings .
This was about the 1970`s-1980`s ? and it may have had to do with "Babylon The Great Has Fallen " theme ?
As well their are many translations of the Bible in Christendom that contain the name as either Jehovah / Yahweh or some other equivalent.representing the four Hebrew letters of the Tetragrammaton commonly translated as JHVH or more accurately as YHWH .
So they are blatantly dishonest in saying Christendom has hidden the name of God from their members .

Dutch House of Representatives formally requests the government to start an investigation re. JW child abuse
by Anders Andersen intoday the dutch house of representatives unanimously voted to petition the government to start an investigation into jw child abuse issues.. the request from the house of reps. came after jw nl refused to listen to repeated and serious requests from the government to start an independent investigation themselves.. now it's up to the government to either accept the request by the house of reps. and start an investigation, or refuse to do so and explain to the house why.
it appears the minister of justice is not unwilling to start an investigation though.... collection of dutch news items here.

Elders of Jehovah`s witnesses three of which in their Judicial Committees in Australia held over 1000 allegations of Child sexual abuse cases over a period of a few decades.
That is more than 3000 Elders we are talking about.
They obviously found grounds to rule against the perpetrator in many cases and either disfellowship them or restrict them from further activity in the congregation until they showed some remorse and/or repentance for their aberration behaviour
Yet all of the Elders failed to notify the Child Protection Agency`s or the law Enforcement Body`s or the Police that alleged Crimes had been committed against children
So all of these Elders failed in their moral capacity and their ethical capacity to provide protection for the most vulnerable ,the children under their care as shepherds to the flock .
They should be ashamed of themselves one and all.

Holy spirit
by mrssauk inwhat is the difference (if any) between being guided by holy spirit and being inspired by holy spirit?
is it just semantics?.
-
smiddy3
Actually this is a bloody good question
.And what IS Holy Spirit ? O.K. I`ve seen the definitions in the dictionary but when you boil it all down its just an imaginary concept.Their is no definitive proof of such a thing/state that exists in all the time/ages that humans have existed and no tangible evidence that such a thing ever existed.
So if such a thing as the Holy Spirit never existed you could neither be inspired or directed or be guided by such a thing as the Holy spirit.
Those that believe in the Holy Spirit do so because of Faith and that is not a good basis for believing in anything .
Billions of people over the Centuries have been misled by believing in "Faith" of one sort or another .

How would you respond?
by enigma1863 insomeone who thinks i’m an elder:.
good afternoon brother.
i am _______ and i work as a regular pioneer.

I`m sorry enigma 1863 but I truly think that the average J.W. would have no clue what you are talking about when you suggest
Research logical fallacies such as “straw man”, “false dichotomy”, and “begging the question”.
You could research epistemology to understand what makes people of other religions believe what they believe.
What Jehovah`s Witness would even bother to research such a word if its not in the watchtower publications i`m not interested in it.is what they would think.
Remember the majority of them don`t have a very high standard of education and that`s from a direction from the Governing Body that the majority happily obey.
I think after reflection on what was said my answer would be .
Read the christian Greek scriptures of the Kingdom Interlinear Translation especially of the word for word translation.
And see how many times you can find that Christians are to be witnesses of Jehovah ?
How many times can you find where Christians are to be witnesses of Jesus ?
In the word for word translation how many times can you find the Tetragrammaton or even the Greek equivalent of those four Hebrew letters ?
What do you conclude from those findings ?

Concerned Parent
by ConcernedParent ini'm writing for some advice from former jws.
my family is christian, and my 15yo daughter is "dating" a jw boy.
(the quotes are because they aren't old enough to actually go out on dates... they consider themselves bf/gf and have hung out and gone places with each other, but always with parents, family, etc.

Their is a new movie coming out called "Apostasy" with Emma Thompson as a family court judge (I think) anyway if your not familiar with how Jehovah`s Witnesses are a high control group over their members and how they break up family`s simply because of religious differences you need to watch it and so does your daughter.
The trailer is out now.
They also forbid Birthday celebrations , Higher education , voting ,saluting the flag, Blood transfusions,(hypocritically they accept Blood fractions donated by other people while they refuse to donate their own blood to be processed into fractions )
I`m sorry if this sounds blunt but if you want to lose your daughter to a cult encourage her to see and get involved with this young JW.
To do so will only lead you to heartache.?
I was a JW for 32 years , nip it in the bud before she gets too involved and even if she does get too involved again do your utmost to end the relationship.
