My main question would be :

If their is / was an Almighty GOD why couldn`t / wouldn` t he preserve the original texts ? After all it is supposedly his word , you would think he would want to preserve it as was accurately portrayed wouldn`t you ?

And not leave it up to imperfect humans who have their own agenda for making their own pet views known.

Ancient Jewish worshipers no doubt had their pet beliefs and being imperfect humans like the rest of us could quite easily modify /manipulate writings to suit their agenda.

Scribes were only imperfect human beings that had their own beliefs and bias `s

It`s no stretch of the imagination that they could influence what we accept today as the Word Of God

My wife and I just had a wonderful experience today.

my wife was looking through some old diary`s that we have lying around and found a ph.# of an old friend (jw) that we knew over 15 years ago .we were always curious as to what has happened to her as she was a dear friend for many years when we were in the "truth".

so she rings the number (,do you still have the same # that you had 15 yrs ago ?

) and this friend was a bit of a "gypsy" type so she wasn`t expecting much when she rang.. to cut a long story short we all had a good conversation we had been trying to find out about her all these years with no success and she was also trying to find out about us all these years with no success ,we had moved interstate.. nothing was said about religion though i suspect she is still associated with the borg.

just an update on this post.

my wife has had a couple of phone calls with our friend in question since the initial contact and she has informed her that she no longer pioneers or even attends so many meetings nowadays as she put it :

"you don`t get any encouragement their anymore "

One thing she said also that I will have to find out a bit more about as time goes on is this.

XXXX One of her sons (she has two ) hasn`t spoken to her in 10 years and i`m not sure whether he is still a JW or not ,though I think he is because the girl he married and her family are (or were ) well into it .

Remember we have been out for over 25 years

So I will tread carefully getting the info about that situation.

In our few discussions either over the phone or pc she has not tried to engage in any religious discussion and neither have we.

She just seems very happy to have made contact with us again after so many years and my wife and I feel the same way.

Will keep you posted on how things pan out.

i live in the sierra nevada foothills of california; a selling point for prospective homeowners in the slightly lower elevation is what is touted in the subject title.

well, right now we are being blasted by a storm barreling down from canada, with hazardous driving and blizzard conditions in the offing, higher up.. as to fog, this photo offers a rare display of misty conditions over our lake, that after the last major rain storm.

it reminds me of summer days of my youth on the pacific coast..

Charity and Jehovah`s Witnesses are not two statements that go together .

Jehovah`s Witnesses have never and will never be charitable to the world and why would they ?

They believe the world lies in the power of the wicked one Satan the Devil so if they support the world in any way they are supporting Satan the Devil .

He has also been accused of knowing about Catholic priests abusing children and moving the Priests around different Diocese to avoid detection .

Is he an untouchable ? because of his position in the Vatican ? because of Catholic politicians in the Australian Parliament ?

You have to wonder .

Keep warm CoCo it`s not conditions I would like to live under but to each his own

How about displaying a contrast photo from the same position so we can compare with no fog no cloud in a summer spring or autumn setting .

Just a thought.
