Birthday
by charonsdog inby the time i finish this post, i will have turned 50 years old.
i spent over 40 years of my life not celebrating my birthday, and it never seemed like a big deal to me.
three years ago, i received a cake and some friends sang "happy birthday" to me at a dinner party that was for a different event.

interview with an apostate- morpheus
by _Morpheus inwhen i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.
a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.
again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

Atheists - How Did You Become An Atheist After Waking Up?
by pale.emperor ini consider myself an atheist.
and right now i'm reading a lot on atheism in general (books written to answer creationists).. i'd be interested in knowing how you became an atheist after leaving the jws and how long did it take?
was it instant or did your belief in a deity gradually decline?.

Strange Justice
by watson inmy ex-god had an unusual sense of justice.
you see, his human son broke the law.
so, my ex-god thought there needed to be some form of justice.

Was Jehovah guilty of entrapment of Adam/Eve ?

Its hard to put a finger on the time when I became an atheist because it was such a gradual event over a few years I believe.
It must have started when I finally realized J.W.`s could not possibly be the truth in the early 90`s and it was probably more like the sites like this one where many learned people posed questions and suggested readings that made me look deeper into the Bible and other writings that were not included as sacred scripture up until then I wasn`t aware of the vast amount that was available.
So the internet played a big part in my awakening with the information at a click of a button.
As a true believer before I left the religion it puzzled me no end that after nearly 100 years of preaching D2D that if I went around the block where I lived and asked people what they knew about J.W.`s their answer would be they don`t take blood transfusions or they just come round bible bashing or they dont salute the flag and that`s about it .
And I began to think what a waste of time ? their is something seriously wrong here ?
I marvel at all the life forms that exist on this planet and I marvel at the Universe as we know it however I`m sure that it has nothing to do with a Judeo/Christian God of creation that has an interest in humanity or any other God worshipped by mankind .
And I`ve never been happier

It used to be all abouth preach, donate money , follow directions from GB and suspect others in congregation where involved in secret sins.
As far as I can tell nothing has changed , same crap different year ! Oh ,and don`t get higher education as you won`t need it because the big A is just around the corner.

Shunning: Reasoning With JW's
by The Fall Guy inperhaps this line of questioning could agitate a jw's thinking.
it can't hurt.. you: is shunning a biblical teaching?.
jw: yes.. you: so it must be god's law?.

How much LOVE did Jehovah show the human race during the 4,000 years or so leading up to the baptism of Jesus ?
Wasn`t Jehovah responsible for the deaths of millions of people ,male, female, young ,old ,children ,as well as millions of livestock that were offered up as a sacrifice to him during those 4,000 years or so ?
Doesn`t the Bible say that Jehovah is the same today as he was yesterday and is the same as he will be tomorrow ? or words to that effect ?
Maybe just being shunned is not as bad as being slaughtered by the God of LOVE.
PS. I`m a victim of shunning also .

Let me get this straight : So a spirit Son of God is miraculously born to a female human who is not God-Man but obviously has super natural powers that no other human has and his life is supposed to equal the life of Adam ?
Who wasn`t a Spirit being in the first place and had no super natural powers of his own.
Eve was fully human and was tarnished with the sin of Adam as every other woman was so Jesus had to be at least infected with 50% of Sin as well , surely.
The scales of Justice don`t seem to balance out in my book.
I think you have a good point their watson

Little Free Libraries
I have never heard of this concept before today do they have them here in Australia ?
it sounds like a bloody good idea but why not just put stickers on that say No religious material wanted and if they still persist write to the offending organization threatening to sue them
