The urban legends we heard as JWs!

how often have we heard some sort of sensationalist urban legend as jws?.

here is an example i was told as a kid:.

the experience of a sister who knocked on a door and was greeted by a big fierce looking man- intimidating and mean.

Elvis Presley takes the Watchtower magazines and was studying .

Queen Elizabeth accepts the NW Translation of the Bible and was studying .

A guy bought some object he liked at a second hand store and when he got home after a while he started having Demon attacks when he was told by the Elders it was because of the object he bought from the second hand shop he took it out the front door and through it into a vacant lot across the street .

Next thing he know`s is that the object bounces back into his house .

Once the Demons get their claws into you their hard to get rid of.

As has been said before "you can`t make this shit up " ?

With all due respect Xanthippe you could then have asked then why did the J.W`s/ G.B.

keep promoting dates going back to the late 1800`s well into the end of the 20th Century whereby the New World should have been ushered in.

All those dates have been well documented here and elsewhere including the WTB&TS own publications .

1874 ,1879,1914,1918,1919,1925,1975 ,2000 , if that does not prove they are false profits I don`t know what else could convince the gullible.

Why does any belief system whether it be religious ,secular,political or otherwise have to be "The Truth" as though it is the ultimate that we all strive to attain ?

Their is no such thing.

Its an illusion , a fantasy , a pie in the sky ideal , it does not exist .

Diminishing glory of JWs, confusions are at the root

when the world shuns jws because of difference of opinion, it is described as the action of satan.. when jws shun others because of difference of opinion, it is described as theocratic action.. such confused mind is at the root of getting wrong teachings.

jws shun anything what anyone would rate as the best of the bible or christian traditions:.

1)cross (with a longer descending arm) is the symbol of controlling the less powerful (“acts of the flesh”) with the more powerful (“spirit” within)—galatians 5:17, 19, 25.

God of the Universe who is begging help from his fallen/weak children so that God Almighty may be empowered to give an answer to the taunt of Satan.

That does not sound like an Almighty GOD the Creator of the Universe to me.! More like a weak insecure being seeking validation from a failed human experiment that he tried .and is now appealing to them to get him out of the mess he created ?

Not meaning to be pedantic LTPF but they are not "the only ones left to join the re-dress scheme" though your point is taken that they haven`t joined as yet . and maybe they wont to their shame .

In my personal view I think it may be better if they don`t as they will come under greater scrutiny .and judgement with all the publicity that goes with it if they have to defend their stand in a court of law as the Govt. minister rightly points out.

And hopefully a far bigger cost to them $$$$ wise.

They stopped mentioning 1914 on the inside cover of their magazines Watchtower and Awake as to why those magazines were published many years ago so it should be of no surprise that it gets less attention nowadays.

Celebrating a birthday for the 1st time

after almost a year of thinking and eh feeling, not sure... i decided to throw a small birthday party for my son.

this feels so strange, i have never been to a birthday party.

my husband doesn't feel comfortable with it but he decided to play along lol.

It gets easier and easier every year demonizing ,birthdays are just another example of the G.B./J.W. straining at the gnat and gulping down the camel with their pettiness.

I hope your son has a great day and that both parents do also .

And don`t forget to give him a few presents also.

Satan , Israelite`s /Jews view ./ Satan Christendom`s views .

over the years i have come across different writings that suggest a total difference in how the chosen people of israel and the jewish religion of today with the "old testament" viewed "satan" and how the many of christendoms religions including the jehovah`s witnesses view satan in the bible .. they seem to be at odds with each other ?.

does the christian greek scriptures " new testament" contradict the hebrew scriptures of the "old testament " about who or what satan is ?.

the israelite`s /jews were gods chosen people for 4,000 years wouldn`t /shouldn`t they know better about satan than the christian religion that usurped the jewish religion ?.

One line of thought that intrigued me was that since GOD was Almighty the Alpha and Omega evil is just another part of his makeup .He is the the GOD of good in the world and he is also responsible for evil.

That`s why he put the tree of the knowledge of good and bad in the garden of Eden to test Adam and Eve.

However like Christendom`s disunity of beliefs , their is no unity of belief in Jewish thinking regarding Satan.

Bobcat ,My understanding is that the Jewish religion does not recognise Satan as a personal being as taught in the New Testament.

"my Jewish Learning" Beliefs and practices of Jews is a site to look up regarding Satan.

Maybe one of our Jewish friends here can articulate the thought better than I can
