  At one stage J.W.`s used to point to the increases in numbers they were having as evidence of God`s blessing on them as the one "true" religion .

  Totally ignoring the fact that other religions were having as much growth and even greater growth numerically than they are and still doing so today.

  "Babylon The Great has Fallen" ,false religion so they said many years ago and that religion was becoming an empty shell.

  Despite its problems the Catholic Church still has over 1 Billion paying members ,and Protestant religions are pretty much the same , and Muslims around the world are over 1 Billion members and growing .

  And that doesn`t even take into account the non Christian religions which are still thriving today.

  So much for Babylon The great having fallen .

  Jehovah`s Witnesses today are about a little over 8 Million and their growth is apparently stagnating and in fact they are even declining in many parts of the world .

  It seems to me the only religion not getting blessed by God are Jehovah`s Witnesses ,I wonder what sins they are covering up ?

  i wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has posted here as i have been reading all of them.

  i have realized that i am not alone in my struggles and the realization that the " truth" is a bunch of crap.

  i have been over come with emotion over the last years or so.

  An Elders wife who belonged to a dynasty of influential family members ,elders and servants told my wife she just "Needs to be Seen" doing all that is required of her in the congregation to be accepted "you don`t have to be actually doing it" ?

  Why didn`t we wake up then !

  Your children should be your primary concern don`t let their life be screwed up by a cult .Because that is what will happen if they continue on being indoctrinated .

  Play the" Head of the House" card and teach them alternatives to the cult.

  a circuit overseer or a member of the gibbering body is giving a talk about demonism and he says the following, "there was an elder in a congregation in california who let his 8-year-old daughter watch disney movies that involved witches, gremlins, magic, and sorcery.

  many may feel that they are harmless movies and are just entertainment.

  well, the 8-year-old daughter actually brought a blue smurf doll to the public talk and watchtower study.

  Their have been so many of these Demon associated with material things over the years its hard to keep up with them.

  Sparlok ,Smurfs , Items bought at second hand /Op shops , kiss records , Heavy Metal recordings the list goes on and on and on.

  Jehovah`s Witnesses are a very superstitious lot :

  ,One elder related to us"how a brother bought a figurine from a second-hand shop and he became troubled by the Demons and when he threw it away across the street onto a vacant lot it bounced right back into his home again"

  I believe these same type of story`s do the rounds of many other fundamental /last days /end times religions.

  So J.W`s are lumped right in with Christendom in this regard.

  Superstitions ,Numbers , and Miracles of the Bible Writers ? Why then & not now.

  doesn`t the bible with its fascination / significance with numbers indicate that its authors were superstitious and written for the benefit of superstitious people in mind ?.

  numbers such as 7 ,10 , 12 , 40 , 144,000 , and the amount of times and applications in scripture , sometimes a multiple of such numbers are used.. coupled with its magical claims of miracles , curing the sick by touch,raising the dead ,curing the blind ,walking on water ,axe heads floating on top of the water ,calming the weather during a storm,curing leprosy ,etc,etc.?.

  all of these instances on a limited occurrence of course and only in certain cases.

  Arguments I’ve Had: Historical Accuracy and the Bible

  when i was a jw and still living with my parents i remember the way my father held what could almost be described as contempt for archeologists, paleontologists, and other scientists who dared to try explain what happened in past.

  he justified this attidtude with the argument that these people don’t have enough evidence to make such claims with any certainty.

  however, i see now that his viewpoint was more likely a defense mechanism to protect his presupposed conclusion that everything described in the bible actually happened.

  And of course the Bible does have such conclusive evidence to back up its claim of divine origin as the word of God.?

  "Their entire narrative of history requires that miracles, magic, angles, and demons all influenced the world in very tangible ways in one particular geographic area in the distant past and between then and now such magical forces have stopped manifesting themselves in such obvious ways for no apparent reason".

  That`s it in a nutshell Saethydd which probably deserves a thread in its own right. { "If God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son" } Where was god in the first 4,000 years of human history with regards to the rest of humanity ? God was actually instrumental in committing genocide among "many" nations apart from the Jews.

  He singled out a people for his name that he would bless and protect { when it suited him } and stuff the rest of humanity he wasn`t concerned with them ",old men women and child" could be put to death at his command and at his whim. Which he did time and time and time again throughout the Old Testament ,the Hebrew Scriptures .

  The Children Act - Emma Thompson - advertised on ITV One - prime time.

  as you probably know "the children act" is a film starring emma thompson as a high court judge deciding whether or not to transfuse a teen jw.

  it is due to be on general release in the uk on august 24th 2018. september 14th usa.. its shortened trailer is being advertised in the uk on the biggest independent tv channel - namely itv - at prime time.

  just seen it in advertisment breaks between 6pm and 7pm uk time.. thought you might like to know..

  I`ve read the book and enjoyed it however , its not an expose of the JW belief system but rather how a non witness in this case a judge who has to make a judgement on whether a teenager who is near adult hood has the right to decide if he lives or dies refusing a blood transfusion .

  I would like to see it and see how close it sticks to the book.
