What Privileges do you get when you are baptized ?

my husband was baptized at the recent 2018 convention in south africa ....... he was very annoyed that his non-believing wife did not attend the baptism....... but i think he received pressure from his jw father & elders as to why his wife was not attending ....... anyway ..... it's really water off my back .

i wanted to know what privileges you get as a baptized jw man , as i saw a message from one of the elders at his cong , congratulating him on his baptism and to earning more privileges ..... what are these privileges the elder is speaking about ,,,,, .

i don't feel like asking my husband as it just lands up in a stupid fight ..... or a long winded explanation ..... thanks .

but thank goodness I am as stubborn as a ox ..... the rules in the house are , u leave your religion at the front door & the children are off limits till they are old enough to decide for them selves ........ the kids do not go to his side of the family unsupervised at all & no Jdubs allowed in my house ....

And if he doesn't like it he can Leave ... which we all know they are not allowed to get divorced ..

You sound like a strong woman with balls if I may use that expression ,good for you to stick to your guns especially about the rules for the children .

Kudos to you for doing that.

However about the divorce issue that`s not quite true ... I personally know quite a few JW`s who have been divorced and are still accepted in good standing in the congregations.

Their are always loopholes they can use to rationalize their excuse to get divorced .

I find that JW`s are masters at rationalizing what they consider a wrong and doing the opposite .

Anyone know the significance of the three days and nights Jesus is dead?

in my studies i’ve come to realize that most dying and rising gods such as inanna, jesus and others all were dead three days and nights.

the moon is dead as far as man not being able to see it in the sky three days and nights but many of these gods are not associated with the moon, osiris maybe being the only exception.

have any of you in your research come up with a plausible idea on why there all dead just threes days and three nights?.

The Israelite`s had a thing with other numbers also didn`t they , as well as the number 3.?

Such as 7 , 10 , 12 , 40 , 144 ,all of which feature in numerous scriptures and prophetic writings.

And the WatchTower publications of Jehovah`s Witnesses has also alluded to its members of the importance of these numbers over time.

7,000 years for 1 Creative day.

7. Heavenly completion

Hence their continued fascination with predicting Armageddon / End of the World / Great tribulation and such.

The six thousand years of human existence was first taught to finish in the late 1800`s and later it was revised to end about October 1975.

Armageddon was first taught to happen in 1914 ,then 1918 .

The resurrection of faithful men of old ,Abraham ,Issac ,and Jacob was supposed to happen in 1925 .

None of which ever happened .

The carrot of the New World Of Paradise is forever dangled in front of the gullible Jehovah`s Witnesses and the threat of everlasting destruction keeps them in check.

Not to mention the threat of losing their family and friends and forever being shunned if they ever leave the J.W. religion .

Which is emotional blackmail.

My New Found Patriotism

i'm not entirely sure where this has come from, but these past few months i've found myself gradually becoming more and more involved politically and identifying myself differently.

we all remember what it was like as jws, no political involvement whatsoever, no national pride, no singing the national anthem or saluting the flag etc.

many people attack, doubt and fault god's word.

yet god has made several promises in his word.he promised to preserve his word unto every generation,he promised that every word would be truth,he promised that we can rely and depend on his every word.satan wants nothing more than to dismiss, and cast doubt on god's word... so the question today is... do we have god's preserved word today?

If there is no GOD then obviously there is no word of GOD.

He/She hasn`t been proven to exist to date so why should we believe that GOD`s word exists ?

How to ween them off their 'drug' addiction!

the other day, we were discussing the similarities that a jw has to a drug addict.

(or any form of addiction really).

as jws, we constantly required "another hit" to keep the cravings at bay, or to keep the level of "high" as a "spiritual" person.. yet another jw related activity - ministry, meetings, publications, assemblies etc...just to keep the high level of euphoria.. but what happens when the "drug" supply is cut off?
