When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?

i'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?

at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.

once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

I had a couple of encounters with a brother and a sister that was involved with different types of weight loss schemes.

The "sister" was rather plump and overweight and tried to entice my wife into the scheme ,I tactlessly told her that it didn`t seem to be doing her much good .

And the "brother" who had a beer belly that any drinker would be proud of as having your own private keg wore a T-shirt that said "Lose weight ? Ask me how"

That was a great source of amusement for me.

Their was also a couple ex missionaries who ran a hair removal salon using electrolysis ,what a scam that was that many witnesses fell for.

“Millions now living will never die”

so i’m just reading the part in ray franz book “crisis of conscience” about the 1925 prediction of “millions now living will never die”.. ofcourse all witnesses are very familiar with this campaign.

yet none of us ever had an issue with it, including myself.

since the booklet was published in 1920, we are one year away from 100 years from that time.

JW`s have a history of about 140 years ,a history that they keep revising and are embarrassed by their early publications .

Catholics have a history of about 1700+ years and I`m not aware that they have ever revised there early history .

The catholic church acknowledge there past mistakes and own up to them .

The GB of JW`s don`t own up to anything and never admit to past mistakes .

Just my observations.

With the up coming election in mid may ? is there something we can do to influence in some way politicians to make sure the recomendation`s of the ARC into institutionalised child sexual abuse are part and parcel of their policies ?

And not a watered down version ?

Can we influence politicians to put their money where there mouth is and make this a game changer for those that have been subjected to sexual abuse as minors and get some real justice done by the ARC Recomendation`s ?

As Australians facing an up coming election shortly can we do something to make this change ?

i`m open to all suggestions . As a group ? individually ? anything else ?

And didn`t they also indicate that all of the Bible prophecies about the end of the world The big A and the GT would all be over or in its final fullfilment by the end of the 20th Century ?

And that the 21st century would usher in the paradise Earth that they have so often preached about .

{ Its peculiar when you Know that the Bible never mentions mans destiny is to inhabit a Paradise Earth }

"Trinity" is never mentioned in the bible ,so it doesn`t exist

"Paradise Earth" is never mentioned in the Bible so it doesn`t exist .

Now to play the Devils Advocate :

2 peter 3: 13 But their are new heavens and a new earth we are awaiting according to his promise and in these righteousness is to dwell .

How do you refute this scripture ? with all of the above ?

Thank you Tara for providing that photo and sharing it with us here ,she was a character and i only got to know her by her posts here at a later stage in her life.But she sure made an impression in whatever she spoke about.

I`m sure she would be very proud of you also ,and thank you for this post and photo.

Do you have a photo of her as a young woman ? i`m sure that would be appreciated by all that knew her here .

JW at a thrift store....

so i was recently in a thrift store, looking through some of the stuff there, when another aisle over, somebody sneezed.. (as far as i know, nobody lost a meatball.... 😅🙃 ...).

anyway, somebody sneezed.

and somebody immediately said, “bless you!”.

Jehovah`s Witnesses have always got to make a statement to the world about their stand on issues ,the non important one`s that is not the big issues of life.

They don`t seem to realize how superstitious they really are about things that other normal people don`t give a second thought to.

Do You Take Any Special Vitamins or Meds That You Would Recommend?

as we get older , we tend to feel the aches and pains or some tiredness like never before.. i have some friends who are in excellent condition and i’ve asked what their secret was.. some swear by cbd oil as a cure all for aches and localized pain.

greek yogurt is a natural food that can attack gut fat as does taking probiotics.

have you found anything that makes you more energized?

Simon i think you could replace one of those meat diets with Subway ,but I got a laugh anyway.

Not to put a dampner on the health foods / vitamins trend ,however I know of two women who were religious in there eating healthy and taking vitamins lots ,that died at a young age .

One in particular while in hospital dying responded to another young person who said to her "when I get out of here I will eat nothing but healthy foods"

"My friend replied don`t even bother ,I`ve been doing it all my life and where has it got me "

I would think the WT Corporation doesn`t let on to the R&F this massive selling off of properties around the world , they are being treated like mushrooms ,kept in the dark and fed bullshit.

I was a JW for 33 years and along with my wife we potentially brought 8 family members in the "struth" never a person in our D2D ministry .

Thankfully all are out except 1 niece who shuns us all.

I`m sure there are millions like us who went from D2D for many ,many years and never brought one person into the "struth" in the D2D work.

If I was Jehovah/Jesus I would sack all of the GB for not getting the job done and producing results that matter in preaching in all of the inhabited earth and making disciples .

They have failed dismally in not preaching in all of the inhabited Earth and they have failed dismally in converting many people in there D2D work.

The bulk of there baptisms nowadays are from family members and not worldly converts .

so i just watched a documentary on netflix called "the end of the world cult" about some geezer named wayne bent (self proclaimed as michael travesser).

some of the stuff this guy says is absolutely unbelievable, and made me seriously think that there are some god awful cults out there, and made me think my time in the jw's (however boring and restrictive) wasn't all so bad... has anyone else seen this?

does anyone have any recommendations on other documentaries of the like??
