i have a jw wife who in 10 years of marriage i have never seen actually read the bible, never given a witness to me, never had a biblical discussion.
for a number of years now hardly even reads the magazines.
My experience is that many religious people are mentally lazy and are quite content to let other people do their thinking for them as to what to believe . Sub consciously they probably think the burden is off of them and rests with those that taught them.
Even when I was "in" I was surprised at how many Elders /MS did not want to discuss the Bible or religion outside of the meetings the common reason was "oh we get enough of that at our meetings this is our free time ."
i know a few family's who have left the cult but send their kids to a religious school because of the public schools teaching many times that homosexuality is ok. the bible is clear that its a sin.
there is no just love each other and its all ok. i don't believe in the bible or any religion.
i have a niece who came out as gay and i told her i don't care.
Even while we were a practicing JW my Bro.in law and one of my wife`s nephew was gay while we didn`t approve of the practice we didn`t judge them in any way .We accepted them as we did the rest of our non JW family and had normal relationships with all of them .
Maybe it was because we were not born ins but converted to the religion.We had close ties with both our families .
Maybe the fact that we had moved to another state also contributed to that fact.and we only saw them once or twice a year.My bro.in law has been in his same sex relationship with his partner for more than twenty years now.
I know many JW couples whose marriage has failed long before that time and gotten divorced.
can we let this day go past without acknowledging his contributions to the betterment of human society ?.

you would think that the adherents of the world's only true religion would also be the best people in the world.
the witnesses use the words "cultivate godly qualities" like a mantra, over and over.
the believers feel that their attendance at meetings and their field service put them in line to gain god's favor as exceptional people.. the problem is that they aren't.
Just look at the Governing Body members on JW.Org ,do you see humble meek like people or do you see arrogant , smug,,puffed up with pride individuals ,who have tailor maid suits ,pinky rings ,and designer watches on.
Who travel around the world on flights giving talks at conventions all on donated monies from the rank & file.
2Thes.3:10 b "If anyone does not want to work neither let him eat" G.B. members are parasites /spongers living off of the generosity of the every day ,average JW who donates to the worldwide Kingdom work and a good percentage of that money contributes to the luxury life style that the GB members enjoy at there new headquarters in America.
While many of their sheep like JW people are living in near poverty around the rest of the world .
Especially 3rd world countries
i always thought this was nonsense, just an excuse for why there’s suffering.. but just assuming there really is this very long period of human history to allow god to prove his sovereignty.
this issue that affects every being not just on the planet but in the universe .
it’s a big deal and one that is so important that billions of people have had to suffer for 6,000 years.. .
Universal Sovereignty ? Don`t the Jehovah`s Witnesses / Watchtower have the bull by the tale and got it all arse about ?
Angels / Spirit creation are a step up the ladder than what humans are in intellect and power ..They also apparently can flit about all over the universe at will .
Whereas humans are limited in what they can do and are confined to this earth which severely restricts them from having much of an influence as to what happens in the universe .
So isnt it more logical for the Angels/Spirit creatures to be dealt with the question and answer of universal sovereignty " and not humans ?
Especially so since it was an Angel that tricked humans in the first place ?
Shouldn`t the onus be put on them to prove Jehovah`s Universal sovereignty and not humans ?
why are the leaders of the watchtower corporation modestly silent about this shame jehovah witnesses?.
all children jehovah witnesses potential terrorist?.

Did this tragedy get anything like the news coverage we are seeing with the NZ tragedy ?

it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.
On the other hand does all of the coal fired power stations around the world contribute to any Climate change ?
Does all of the exhaust fumes of all the cars around the world contribute to any change in Climate ?
They say there is a City in the sky above us with over 1 million people anytime of the day or night flying above us .
All of these Jets spew out exhaust fumes constantly all around the world night and day ,how much pollution are they causing every minute of the day and night ? Do they contribute to any change in climate ?
I don`t know ,but surely it must be having some effect somehow on the environment because the environment was never subjected to this amount of man made pollution 200 years ago.
one of the most despicable things i can remember is having the elders determining whether or not you “qualified” for proper funeral services in a kingdom hall and if the talk could be given by an elder.
people are hurting terribly and the family is then told, even though the deceased was a member of the congregation, they still weren’t good enough to qualify for proper burial services per the congregation!

i've been thinking about the wt's disciplinary system -- marking, private reproof, public reproof, disfellowshipping.
did you find their system oppressive while you were a jw?
did you find the system theoretically okay but unfairly applied (playing favorites, etc.)?
I`m sad to say I was too far indoctrinated and I blame myself because I wanted to believe it at the time.
i was listening to an overnight abc radio broadcast with rod quin ?in the early hours of the morning 14/3/19.
and with him was a guest of the labour party of newcastle nsw ,sorry her name escapes me.. and some issues were raised that i never knew of, that survivors might have .hopefully i can articulate them here as i understand it.
and remember it ....we all know the trauma that a child will go through with being abused and some will go off the rails because of that and commit some crimes of their own maybe in their teen years .. anybody who has committed a crime and spent time in jail can not take part in the redress scheme.
One other thing that I recall about the Redress Scheme and the ARC into Institutionalized Child sexual Abuse was that because of so many institutions that were involved and so many people were interviewed the ARC estimated there could be as many as 60 thousand people who may take advantage of the scheme ,however as of late February their were less than 3 thousand who had taken up the option to take advantage of the redress scheme.
So the question remains is it because of the problems listed in the above post and/or are their other problems also that exist that puts victims off applying to this scheme.
